CARS 측정 기술을 이용한 스파크 점화 기관에서의 화염 전 화학 반응에 의한 온도 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Temperature Elevation Due to the Pre-flame Reaction in a Spark-Ignition Engine Using CARS Technique)

  • End-gas temperatures were measured using CARS technique in a conventional DOHC spark- ignition engine fueled with PRF80. The measured pressure data were analyzed using band pass filter method. The measured CARS temperatures were compared with adiabatic core temperatures calculated from measured pressures. Significant heating by pre-flame reaction in the end gas zone was observed in the late part of compression stroke under both knocking and non-knocking conditions. CARS temperatures measured at 10 crank angle degree before knock occurrence was higher than adiabatic core temperatures. These results indicate that there exist some exothermic reactions in low pressure and temperature region. CARS temperatures began to be higher than the adiabatic core temperature when the end-gas temperatures reached look. The temperature elevation due to the pre-flame reaction correlated better with CARS temperature than with cylinder pressure.

Synthesis and Optical Recording Properties of Coupled Hemicyanine Salts for DVD-R

  • A series of coupled-hemicyanine dyes with alkylene spacer were successfully synthesized by a reaction of coupled aldehydes with corresponding salts, respectively. These coupled dyes had more excellent thermal properties (high decomposition temperature, stiff decomposition behavior) and higher molar absorption properties than an uncoupled dye. The coupled dyes with perchlorate anions showed the strongest exothermic decomposition while those with hexafluorophosphorate anions showed endothermic decomposition. As the coupling length (n=3, 4, 5, 6) increased, thermal properties decreased and dyes with even spacer was more thermally stable than dyes with odd spacer. Among several coupled dyes, C4-NP-ClO4 and C4-Cl-ClO4 exhibited the best recording properties with the lowest jitter value of 7.5∼9.5% in authoring disc.

  • Poly(4, 4'-diphenyl ether pyromellitamic acid) was prepared from pyromellitic anhydride with 4, 4'-diamino diphenyl ether by means of low-temperature solution polymeriztion. The reation was exothermic and very fast when carried out at room temperature. The synthesized poly(4, 4'-diphenyl ether pyromellitamic acid) was converted to poly(4, 4'-diphenyl ether pyromellitimide) by thermal dehydrocyclization. FTIR analysis was widely used as a means of determining the course of imidization from intensity of characteristic bands of the imide ring at $1790cm^{-1}$ and $1490cm^{-1}$. The density of poly(4, 4'-diphenyl ether pyromellitimide) was higher than poly(4, 4'-diphenyl ether pyromellitamic acid) indicating the greater crystallinity, perhaps because of the reduction of molar volume of polymers

Poly(amic acid) 전구체 용액의 성질 (Property of Poly(amic acid) Precursor Solution)

  • Condensation type aromatic polyimides were synthesized in DMF solvent by two step low temperature solution polymerization. By employing monomers as p-phenylene 3diamine and 3 kinds of dianhydrides such as pyromellitic dianhydride, 3,3',4,4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride and trimellitic anhydride chloride, poly(amic acid) precursors were sythesized. These reactions were exothermic and very fast. When synthesized poly(amic acid)s were dissolved in DMF solvent and stood long time, the polymers were hydrolyzed and their degradation reactions were accelerated as the solution concentrations were dilute. Also, when water is added there-to the degradation rates were accelerated 8faster. In addition, in a very dilute solution state, the reduction viscosity is greatly increased to show properties of conventional polyelectrolytes. This also showed properties sensitive to the concentration change as carboxyl groups per unit segment are increased.

  • The solid state reaction of Mo/Si multilayer thin films produced by RF magnetron sputtering technique was examine dusing differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and x-ray diffraction, and explained in view of two concepts, effective drivig force and effective heat of formation. In constant scanning rate DSC, there were two exothermic peks which corresponded to the formation of h-MoSi2 and t-MoSi2 , respectively. The activation energyfor theformation of h-MoSi2 was 1.5eV , and that of t-MoSi2 was 7.8eV. Nucleation wa stherate controlling mechanism for each of the silicide formation. Amorphous phase was not formed , which was consistent withtheprediction by the concept of effective driving force. h-MoSi2 the first crystalline phase, was considered to have lower interfacial free energy than t-MoSi2 and by increasing temperature it was transformed into more stable t-MoSi2.

비이온성 수지를 이용한 음이온 계면활성제의 흡착에 관한 연구 (A Study on Adsorption of Anionic Surfactants with Nonionic Resins)

  • The adsorption of the anionic surfactants, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS) anion surfactants form aqueous solutions with nonionic resins, Amberlite XAD-2, XAD-4 and XAD-7 at temperatures in 15~45$^{\circ}C$ range was studied. Several adsorption isotherm models were used to fit the experimental data, The best results were obtained with the Redlich-Peterson equation and the Freundlich model provided remarkably good fits. For a particular resin at a particular temperature, SDBS was more extensively adsorbed than SLS. The highest adsorption were obtained with XAD-4 resin and the specific surface area of the resins plays a major role in adsorption of the surfactants. Estimations of the isosteric heat of adsorption were indicative of an exothermic process, and their magnitudes manifested a physisorption process.

  • This paper describes the analysis of deterioration characteristics for connection factor used in grounding system. The connection method of grounding system is specified in IEC standard. In order to analyze the deterioration characteristics for connection factor, deterioration test was carried out when the connection factor was buried in salt water and underground. The test connection factors were C-type sleeve, clamp, and exothermic welding. As a consequence, most of the connection factor was corroded, and the electrical resistance decreased after deterioration. The analytical results can be used to establish the safety of grounding system.

A Study of Thermal Properties of LDPE-Nanoclay Composite Films

  • This work focused on the study of thermal properties and kinetic behavior of LDPE-nanoclay composite films. The effect of nanoclay content (0.5, 1, 3, and 5 wt%) on thermal stability and crystallization characteristics of the nanocomposites were investigated by Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The results from endothermic curve showed that the nanoclay played an important role in the crystallization of nanocomposites by acting as nucleating agent. From exothermic curve, there was a crystallization temperature shift which was attributed to crystallization process induced by nanoclay. The TGA results showed that the addition of nanoclay significantly increased the thermal stability of LDPE matrix, which was likely due to the characteristic of layered silicates/clays dispersed in LDPE matrix as well as the formation of multilayered carbonaceous-silicate char. A well-known Coats-Redfern method was used to evaluate the decomposition activation energy of nanocomposite. It was demonstrated that introducing of nanoclay to LDPE matrix escalated the activation energy of nanocomposite decomposition resulting in thermal stability improvement.

  • Hydrogen is the ideal candidate as an alternative energy carrier, so many hydrogen storage methods are investigated. The hydrogen storage method using metal hydride is good candidate as energy sources for portable devices because hydrogen-storage as metal hydride shows large volumetric storage density. In this study, we investigated the variations of hydrogen charging/discharging performance of metal hydride tanks at different temperature conditions. We charged metal hydride tanks with hydrogen in low temperature because of the exothermic reactions of hydrogen absorption while we discharged in high temperature to provide sufficient heat because of the endothermic reactions of desorption. In addition, we investigated the difference of hydrogen charging/discharging performance between two tanks having different sizes.
