  • It is very difficult to exchange geographical data among geographical information systems which store their spatial data with independent storage structures. Since, moreover, large amount of storage space is necessary to store spatial data and ex pen sive cost is required to input them, waste will grow as they are stored redundantly. Therefore, it is essential to share them with other geographical information systems by exchanging spatial data among them. In order to exchange spatial data efficiently, there exist several international standards for data exchange format. In this paper, we design and implement a data conversion system that converts geographical data between SDTS (Spatial Data Transfer Standard) which is adopted as the national standard for common data exchange format and Informap which is the existing mapping system. We first analyze the storage structures of SDTS and Informap, respectively and develop gateway functions according to these analyses for efficient conversion. Finally, we design and implement the overall data conversion system between SDTS and Informap using the gateway functions.

  • Information Delivery Manual (IDM) is a documentation format for capturing the information requirements among various AEC project tasks and their software uses. The authors analyzed the structural engineering and analysis domain and were able to define its process model definition and the information flow required for the process by following the methodology stated in the IDM format. The authors believe that The manual has its potentials for further enhancements for IFC-based process integration by transferring it into a information model schema, which can be later referenced by the software applications to automatically determine which data need to be exchanged.

  • Foreign investors who invest in the Korean stock markets are exposed to two kinds of foreign exchange rate risk, the economic exposure and the translation exposure. The former is the foreign exchange rate exposure in return generating process of the assets invested and the latter is the foreign exchange rate exposure in the translation of domestic return into foreign investors' currency. Domestic investors, however, are exposed only to foreign exchange rate exposure in the asset invested. This different situation on foreign exchange rate exposure between foreign investors and domestic investors can induce different response to exchange rate change by investor groups. Previous studies on foreign exchange rate exposure of Korean firms reported that quite a few Korean firms are exposed to foreign exchange risks and suggested to manage the foreign exchange risks. Also, many studies on the market segmentation showed that a market can be practically segmented according to the characteristics of investor groups. These studies support the hypothesis that the Korean stock market can be practically segmented by the foreign investors' attitude to the foreign exchange rate exposure. This study examines the response of both foreign investors and domestic investors to the foreign exchange rate exposures in Korean stock markets. Test results show that foreign investors increase their sell transactions when the foreign exchange rate exposure of the previous day is negative. This result can be possible when foreign investors attempt to actively manage the decrease in value of their assets due to rising of exchange rate. Analysis on the sell order data is also supportive to this interpretation. Foreign investors also increase their buy transactions when the foreign exchange rate exposure of the previous day is negative. This result can be possible when foreign investors use actively the relation between the increase in asset value and the translation gain due to declining of exchange rate. Analyses on buy order data, however, do not show the same result as the analyses on transaction data. This difference may come from the difference of information contained in transaction data and order data. In summary, the result of the paper supports the hypothesis that foreign investors response differently to foreign exchange rate exposure compared with domestic, Korean investors. Two groups do not show different response when exchange rate exposure is positive, i.e., as foreign exchange rate is increase (decrease), the asset value is increase (decrease). However, foreign investors' response is different from that of domestic investors when exchange rate exposure is negative, i.e., as foreign exchange rate is increase (decrease), the asset value is decrease (increase). These results mean that foreign investors and domestic investors are placed in different situations related to foreign exchange rate exposure, and these differences are reflected in the Korean stock markets. And domestic investors need to consider foreign investors' different attitude to the foreign exchange rate exposure when they analysis foreign investors' trading behavior.

  • As a way for defending against cyber security threats, there has been a research on cybersecurity information exchange between security management domains in order to raise security performance of the whole network. One of the hottest issues in exchanging cybersecurity information between security management domains is that the requirements of those domains on information sharing are different with each other because each is autonomous domain. This paper proposes a mechanism for effective cybersecurity Information exchange between independent security management domains, which can satisfy their requirements on information sharing through sharing policy and sharing policy control protocol, proposed in this paper. In this paper we have developed an integrated security control system that supports the proposed mechanism. Through the system the performance of the proposed mechanism is measured and evaluated.

  • A designated verifier signature is a special type of digital signature, which convinces a designated verifier that she has signed a message in such a way that the designated verifier cannot transfer the signature to a third party. A strong designated verifier signature scheme enhances the privacy of the signer such that no one but the designated verifier can verify the signer's signatures. In this paper we present two generic frame works for constructing strong designated verifier signature schemes from any secure ring signature scheme and any deniable one-pass authenticated key exchange protocol, respectively. Compared with similar protocols, the instantiations of our construction achieve improved efficiency.

  • The Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocol is most widely used as a security key exchange protocol on the Internet. Security policies used by the IKE protocol must be configured in advance, however the complex options and manual settings cause inconvenience. This paper proposes an automatic configuration method for the IKE protocol based on X.509 certificate. Security policies are embedded in the certificate, read, and added into the IKE configuration file by a negotiation assistant module in order to achieve automatic IKE configuration. Our proposed method reduces the complexity of configuration process and improves the adaptability of the IKE protocol.

  • The Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) collects and documents a large amount of information from different paths in one place during design and construction projects. This documented information is readily available as a means of continuously transferring data to the facility management systems used by building engineers. In this process, the COBie Worksheet, an open standard form, is used to input the information by simplifying the list required by the user. As a result, COBie was developed to improve dramatically how relevant information is obtained and updated to support operations, maintenance, and asset management at the design and construction stages. On the other hand, to use COBie, a great deal of manual work is required for information linkage and quality inspection with heterogeneous data models. These issues become obstacles to COBie-based facility management system development. This study analyzed the COBie information system and defined the framework for simpler operating maintenance information from BIM (Building Information Modeling). Moreover, the rules for facility management information submission, quality inspection, role definition of framework components, and information linkage were derived. COBie DB schema and support data linkages could be generated effectively based on the proposed framework in prototype development.

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have been considered as valuable aerial reconnaissance systems and our army wants capability-enhanced UAVs installed in our territory, hoping that the UAVs will provide enemy information in detail. The enemy information acqcuired by UAVs would be shared by our army's legacy systems. In this article, we made a research on the interoperability between UAVs and Ground Fighting Vehicles (GFVs), laying emphasis on what kinds of tactical information could be exchanged by two different weapon systems. Also, it needs to be addressed that their upper-level commanding systems play a significant role in such operation.
