  • We study a bivariate response regression model with arbitrary marginal distributions and joint distributions using Frank and Clayton's families of copulas. The proposed model is used for fitting dependent bivariate data with explanatory variables using the log-odd log-logistic Weibull distribution. We consider likelihood inferential procedures based on constrained parameters. For different parameter settings and sample sizes, various simulation studies are performed and compared to the performance of the bivariate odd-log-logistic-Weibull regression model. Sensitivity analysis methods (such as local and total influence) are investigated under three perturbation schemes. The methodology is illustrated in a study to assess changes on schoolchildren's oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in a follow-up exam after three years and to evaluate the impact of caries incidence on the OHRQoL of adolescents.

  • This paper considers the estimation of the long memory parameter in nonparametric regression with strongly correlated errors. The key idea is to minimize a unified mean squared error of long memory parameter to select both kernel bandwidth and the number of frequencies used in exact local Whittle estimation. A unified mean squared error framework is more natural because it provides both goodness of fit and measure of strong dependence. The block bootstrap is applied to evaluate the mean squared error. Finite sample performance using Monte Carlo simulations shows the closest performance to the oracle. The proposed method outperforms existing methods especially when dependency and sample size increase. The proposed method is also illustreated to the volatility of exchange rate between Korean Won for US dollar.

  • This research developed construction cost forecasting model using Building Construction Cost Index, time series analysis and Artificial Neural Networks. By this model, we could calculate the forecasted values of construction cost precisely and efficiently. And we also could find out that the standard deviation of forecasted values is 0.375 and it is a very exact result, so the standard deviation is just 0.33 percent of 112.28, the average of Building Construction Cost Index. And it show more exact forecasting result in comparison with Time Series Analysis.

  • Most reinforce concrete Columns of Building structure are subjected to both axial load and biaxial bending. However, It is hard to estimate the moment capacity of biaxial bending by exact solution. Thus, columns under biaxial bending are designed by approximate methods in practice. The purpose of this study is to compare experimental result with approximate methods and exact solution by computer. Parameters of the present test are compressive strength of concrete (350, 585, 650kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$) and shape ratio of rectangular section. Ultimately, an experimental shape factor for rectangular RC column section is obtained through the test program. The shape of load contour is dominated by this shape factor obtained experimentally. So, reasonable design of RC columns subjected to both axial compression and biaxial bending depends on load contour.

  • Corner positioning templates are proposed in order to detect the accurate positions of corners that are extracted using 4-directional edge labeling. Top-down and bottom-up directional labeling are used to label the edge segments with four kinds of labels according to their directions. The points whose labels have changed are then determined as corners. The exact positions of the missing corners due to the disconnected edges are detected through the corner positioning templates that are determined according to the labels of start-points and end-points after the two-pass edge labeling. Experiment results show that the proposed method can detect the exact positions of the real corners.

  • In this paper, a linear matrix inequality-based sampled-data fuzzy observer design method is proposed based on the exact discretization approach. In the proposed design technique, a numerically relaxed observer design condition is obtained by using the discrete-time fuzzy Lyapunov function. Unlike the existing studies, the designed observer is robust to the uncertain premise variable because the fuzzy observer is designed under the imperfect premise matching condition, in which the membership functions of the system and observer are mismatched. In addition, we apply the proposed method to the state estimation problem of the attitude and heading reference system (AHRS). To do this, we derive a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model for the AHRS system, and validate the proposed method through the hardware experiment.

  • Query language has been widely used as a convenient tool to obtain information from a database. However, users demand more intelligent query processing systems that can understand the intent of an imprecise query and provide additional useful information as well as exact answers. This paper introduces a meta-database and presents a query processing mechanism that supports a variety of intelligent queries in a consistent and integrated way. The meta-database extracts data abstraction knowledge form an underlying database on the basis of a multilevel knowledge representation framework KAH. In cooperation with the underlying database, the meta-database supports four types of intelligent queries that provide approximately or conceptually equal answers as well as exact ones.

  • Recently car navigation systems which have been widely spread and evolved. The systems use various information and techniques such as real time traffic information and augmented reality technique. In order to provide a shortest path with good flow, real-time traffic information provided by DMB is required. Augmented reality technique is also introduced to give a reality to driver by displaying real images captured by camera during driving. However, these operate well when the system receives GPS data normally. Exact information about the positions of vehicles is a base that supports the above function with realities. This paper proposes a model for acquiring exact position of vehicles. When the GPS does not operate normally, the proposed model uses various data which are generated by integrated vehicle networks.

  • Even though ruin probability is a fundamental value to determine the insurance premium and policy, the complexity involved in computing its exact value forced us resort to an approximate method. In this paper, we first present an exact method to compute ruin probability under the assumption that the claim size has a GPH distribution, Then, for the arbitrary claim size distribution, we provide a method computing ruin probability quite accurately by approximating the distribution as a GPH. The validity of the proposed method demonstrated by a numerical example. The GPH approach seems to be valid for heavy-tailed claims as well as usual light-tailed claims.
