  • SNS is a web-based online platform service supporting the formation of relations between users. SNS users have usually used a desktop or laptop for this purpose so far. However, the number of SNS users is greatly increasing and their access to the web is improving with the spread of smart phones. They share their daily lives with other users through SNSs. We can detect events if we analyze the contents that are left by SNS users, where the individual acts as a sensor. Such analyses have already been attempted by many researchers. In particular, Twitter is used in related spheres in various ways, because it has structural characteristics suitable for detecting events. However, there is a limitation concerning the detection of events and their locations. Thus, we developed a system that can detect the location immediately based on the district mentioned in Twitter. We tested whether the system can function in real time and evaluated its ability to detect events that occurred in reality. We also tried to improve its detection efficiency by removing noise.

  • The simulation-based weapon system effectiveness analysis is to support the decision making in the acquisition process of the defense domain. The effectiveness of the weapon system is a complexly influenced indicator from various factors such as environment, doctrine and so on. And the measurement of effectiveness can be defined differently in compliance with major issues in the weapon system. Because of this, the weapon system effectiveness analysis requires the comparative experiment of various alternatives based on the underlying assumption. This paper presents the efficient approach to reconfigure the simulation using the reflection technique. The proposed method contains the recoupling and resetting the simulation entity using DEVS(Discrete EVent System specification) formalism-based dynamic plug-in method. With the proposed method, this paper designs the effectiveness analysis environment that can efficiently handle the various alternatives of the weapon system.

  • Purpose: The important things in space plan of a screening center are improving the spatial awareness by space systemization and minimizing the examination time for customers, and reducing the required time of screening work and maximizing the capacity for the screening center. Therefore, we tried to solve the problem of improving spatial awareness and reducing the examination time by using the pedestrian based discrete event simulation at the minimum cost. Methods: We have analyzed the drawbacks and the supplement points by comparing the floor plan at the time of opening and the current floor plan. Based on the analysis, we propose an improved plan which changes the location of the examination rooms and the number of services, and we also verify the improved plan based on simulation analyses. Results: 1) Through the analyses, we derived the drawbacks of the floor plan at the time of opening, and we realized that the current floor plan reflects the drawbacks. 2) The major reasons of the long examination time are the human traffic jam and the occurrence of queues due to unreasonable allocation of services. 3) Through the discrete event simulation analyses, it was possible to specify the place of the queues manually so as to use the given space fairly. 4) Using the discrete event simulation, it was possible to reduce the examination time and to improve the spatial awareness effectively at the minimum cost. Implications: Although the proposed simulation methodology in this paper is an analysis of the existing screening center, we expect that the proposed methodology will be used to develop a more efficient architectural design process by pre-applying the method to the course of designing a screening center and finding the suitability of the proposed method with the matched number of services.

  • Importance of coordination among heterogeneous devices is significantly increasing to meet the challenges presented by the evolvement of the ubiquitous computing environment. The web services technology is going up as a promising solution to support the inter-operability between such heterogeneous devices via well-defined protocol. Currently, ECA(Event-Condition-Action) rule based framework for coordinating devices is proposed, it is called as WS-ECA(Web Services-ECA) framework. This framework was basically based on the web services and proposed the ECA based rule language, And this also proposed the framework that could enable the device coordination based on proposed rule language. In this paper, we propose the protocol among the components of WS-ECA framework to support dynamic feature for ubiquitous environment, and we also propose WSDL extension to support service and event descriptions these are provided in components of this framework.

  • The attacker's techniques and tools are becoming intelligent and sophisticated. Existing Anti-Virus cannot prevent security accident. So the security threats on the endpoint should also be considered. Recently, EDR security solutions to protect endpoints have emerged, but they focus on visibility. There is still a lack of detection and responsiveness. In this paper, we use real-world EDR event logs to aggregate knowledge-based MITRE ATT&CK and autoencoder-based anomaly detection techniques to detect anomalies in order to screen effective analysis and analysis targets from a security manager perspective. After that, detected anomaly attack signs show the security manager an alarm along with log information and can be connected to legacy systems. The experiment detected EDR event logs for 5 days, and verified them with hybrid analysis search. Therefore, it is expected to produce results on when, which IPs and processes is suspected based on the EDR event log and create a secure endpoint environment through measures on the suspicious IP/Process.

  • Robotic systems have developed very rapidly over the past decade. Robot Operating System is an open source-based software framework for the efficient development of robot operating systems and applications, and is widely used in various research and industrial fields. ROS applications may contain various vulnerabilities. Various studies have been conducted to monitor the excution of these ROS applications at runtime. In this study, we propose a real-time attack detection system using event-based runtime monitoring in ROS 2. Our attack detection system extends tracetools of ros2_tracing to instrument events into core libraries of ROS 2 middleware layer and monitors the events during runtime to detect attacks on the application layer through out-of-order execution of the APIs.

  • A drought event is characterized by duration, severity and affected area. In general, after calculating a drought index using hydro-meteorological time series at a station, a drought event is defined based on the run theory to identify the beginning and end time. However, this one-dimensional analysis has limitations for analyzing the spatio-temporal occurrence characteristics and movement paths of drought. Therefore, this study is to define a three-dimensional drought event using a simple clustering algorithm and to develop a drought map that can be used to understand the drought severity according to the spatio-temporal expansion of drought. As a result, compared with the two-dimensional monitoring information to show spatial distribution of drought index, a proposed drought map is able to show three-dimensional drought characteristics inclusing drought duration, spatial cumulative severity, and centroid of drought. The analysis of drought map indicated that there was a drought event which had the affected area less than 10 % while on occations while there were 11 drought events (44 %) which had the affected area more a than 90 % of the total area. This means that it is important to understand the relationship between spatial variation of drought affected area and severity corresponding to various drought durations. The development of drought map based on three-dimensional drought analysis is useful to analyze the spatio-temporal occurrence characteristics and propagation patterns of regional drought which can be utilized in developing mitigation measures for future extreme droughts.

  • While the corporate practice of sponsoring major events has existed since the turn of the century, it has only recently become one of the fastest growing areas of advertising and promotion. Despite its long history and recent growth, however, event sponsorship has yet to receive the same kinds of rigorous theoretical and methodological attention that marketing researchers have devoted to other areas of advertising and promotion. Also, the recent Olympic Games in Sydney serve as excellent showcase of the sponsorship phenomenon. On the hand it becomes very clear that an event of such magnitude cannot take place without the commercial support of the sponsors. At the same time, there is a growing concern that the Olympic Games are losing their spirit and are over-commercialized because of the excessive sponsorship-linked marketing activities. At the centre of the debate is the impact and the reaction of the consumers to the growing use of sponsorship to stage major events. While the Olympic Games might be an extreme example of the growth and impact of sponsorship, the proliferation of the phenomenon is widespread across other sports events as well as other cultural and community based events. But a comprehensive model of sponsorship is not currently available in the literature. This research is the aim of the current research to investigate consumer attitude constructs towards sponsorship such as sport involvement, attitude towards the event, attitude towards commercialization. The results still have potentially significant applied and theoretical implication. First, This investigation is the first known effort, grounded in consumer behavior theory, to model antecedent variables believed to influence consumer response to event sponsorship in Korea. Second, these findings are in line with previous research, as sports involvement attitude towards the event, and attitude towards commercialization are found to be significant influences on respondents' ability, motivation and opportunity to process sponsorship information, as well as directly and indirectly impacting emotional response.

  • In this paper, we present a visual analytics system that uses serial-correlation to detect an abnormal event in spatio-temporal data. Our approach extracts the topic-model from spatio-temporal tweets and then filters the abnormal event candidates using a seasonal-trend decomposition procedure based on Loess smoothing (STL). We re-extract the topic from the candidates, and then, we apply STL to the second candidate. Finally, we analyze the serial-correlation between the first candidates and the second candidate in order to detect abnormal events. We have used a visual analytic approach to detect the abnormal events, and therefore, the users can intuitively analyze abnormal event trends and cyclical patterns. For the case study, we have verified our visual analytics system by analyzing information related to two different events: the 'Gyeongju Mauna Resort collapse' and the 'Jindo-ferry sinking'.
