A new method is developed to estimate the evaporation of water from a surface with high accuracy and resolution. The principle of new method is to detect a weight change of buoyant weight according to a change in water level of Class A Pan mesured by the use of a strain-gauge load cell. Field test of evaporation recording new instrument was carried out at Suwon for 10 days July 1999. It is possible in field observation to measure hourly evaporation amount by newly developed evaporation recording instrument in Class A Pan against strong solar radiation. Present study provide a possibility of domestic high accuracy instrument development below than 0.1mm water level measurement accuracy. If there is low humidity and high wind speed conditions which is possible to evaporate from water surface during night time. And it needs continuous study to understand between meteorological elements and latent heat effect at ground level by field observation study using high accuracy evaporation recording instrument.
The evaporation heat transfer characteristics of propane(R-290) in horizontal small diameter tubes were investigated experimentally. The test tubes have inner diameters of 1 mm and 4 mm. Local heat transfer coefficients were measured at heat fluxes of 12, $24\;kW/m^2$, mass fluxes of 150, $300\;kg/m^2s$, and evaporation temperature of $15^{\circ}C$. The experimental results showed that the evaporation heat transfer coefficient of R-290 has an effect on heat flux, mass flux, tube diameter, and vapor quality. The evaporation heat transfer of R-290 has an influenced on nucleate boiling at low quality and convective boiling at high quality. The evaporation heat transfer coefficient of R-290 increases with decreasing inner tube diameter. And the evaporation heat transfer coefficient of R-290 is about 1~3 times higher than that of R-134a.
This study aims to experimentally investigate the evaporation characteristics of nanofluid droplet on heated surface at boiling temperature of DI-water. In particular, textured surface was used to examine the effect of wettability on evaporation. At the initial stage of evaporation process, dynamic contact angle (DCA) of nanofluid droplet with 0.01 vol.% concentration on textured surface rapidly increased over its equilibrium contact angle by generated large bubble inside the droplet due to lower wettability. However, contact angle of nanofluid droplet with higher concentration on textured surface decreased with surface tension. In addition, total evaporation time of droplet on textured surface was considerably delayed due to reduction of contact area between droplet and solid surface. Thus, evaporation characteristics were highly affected by the nanofluid concentration and surface wettability.

In evaporative cooling applications, the evaporation water is supplied usually sufficiently larger than the amount evaporated to enlarge contact surface between the water and the air. Especially in indirect evaporative coolers, however, if the evaporation water flow rate is excessively large, the evaporative cooling effect is not used for heat absorption from the hot fluid but spent to the sensible cooling of the evaporation water itself. This would result in a decrease in the cooling performance of the indirect evaporative cooler. In this study, the effects of the evaporation water flow rate on the cooling performance are investigated theoretically. The cooling process in an indirect evaporative cooler is modeled into a set of linear differential equations and solved to obtain the exact solutions to the temperatures of the hot fluid, the moist air, and the evaporation water. Based on the exact solutions, it is analyzed how much the cooling performance is affected by the evaporation water flow rate. The results show that the decrease in the cooling effectiveness is substantial even for a small flow rate of the evaporation water and the relative decrease is more serious for a high-performance evaporative cooler.

Effect of heating medium and evaporation temperatures on a concentration ratio, a evaporation rate and a overall heat transfer coefficient during concentration of garlic juice by a centrifugal thin film evaporator were investigated. At constant feeding rate and evaporation temperature, the concentration ratio, the evaporation rate and the overall heat transfer coefficient increased with the increase of the steam temperature but those values increased slowly or decreased as a steam temperature exceeded $110^{\circ}C$. At the feeding rate of 50 kg/h and the steam temperature of $100^{\circ}C$ and below, those values decreased with the increase of evaporation temperature. But if a steam temperature became $100^{\circ}C$ and up, those values increased slowly and then decreased with the increase of the evaporation temperature until the evaporation temperature reached a critical value. At constant feeding rate, those values increased until the temperature difference between steam and evaporation temperatures became $70^{\circ}C$. But if they become larger than $70^{\circ}C$, those values increased slowly and then decreased.

The presented study aims to investigate the colloidal droplet deposition caused by evaporation of the liquid. In the numerical analysis, the evaporation is carried out by using different evaporation function intended to obtain different shape of solute deposition. In the experiment, the colloidal droplets of different solvents are placed on a glass plate and the surface profiles are measured after drying the solvents of the droplets to investigate the effect of the solvent evaporation on the final deposition profile. Comparing the surface profiles obtained under different conditions, the optimum drying conditions of colloidal droplets are, determined to obtain uniform surface profiles. The numerical results showed that ring-shaped deposition of solute was formed at the edge of the droplet due to the coffee stain effect and the height of the ring was reduced at the lower evaporation rate. The experiments showed that the boiling point of a solvent was critical to the surface uniformity of the deposition profile and the mixture of solvents with different boiling points influenced the uniformity as well.
A study has been conducted to clarify the effect of watery vapor concentration in hot ambient on droplet evaporation. Droplets of water, ethanol, n-hexadecaneand n-heptane were used in this experimental study. Ambient conditions are fixed at 470 K in temperature, 0.1 MPa in pressure and 2 m/s in velocity of ambient air. Watery vapor concentration was changed 0%~40% by 10% by add water to air. To obtain the time histories of droplet diameter after exposed in ambient, a suspended droplet in hot and humid ambient stream was synchronized with a back flash light, and enlarged droplet images were taken by a CCD camera. The evaporation rate constant of water droplet decreases slightly with the vapor concentration because diffusion velocity reduction of droplet vapor occurs on the surface. The values of ethanol and n-heptane droplet actively increase by effect that water from condensation of vapor flows into the droplet. The evaporation rate constant of n-hexadecane which has higher boiling point than water increases within around 30% of the concentration.
This study is based on a investigation regarding the evaporation rate of a volatile liquid(methanol, tetrahydrofuran, xylene) according to changes of the temperature and wind. The weight of a volatile liquid was standardized to 24 g and the mixture was formed with the same weight ratio. In order to discover about the effect of the wind velocity, small fan was installed at 10 cm above the entrance and 30 cm away in the direction of the cylinder. The effect of the wind velocity was tested at 0 m/s, 1.63 m/s, 2.03 m/s respectively and the effect of the temperature on the volatile liquid was experimented at the temperature of $21^{\circ}C$, $32^{\circ}C$, $52^{\circ}C$ in the constant temperature water base. As a result, in case of Xylene, the evaporation rate of the tetrahydrofuran and methanol showed 1.4 mg/min, 19.8 mg/min and 10.2 mg/min respectively. Also, the effect of the evaporation rate on the temperature of the volatile liquid and on the velocity of wind was shown to be very sensitive. At the same time, the evaporation rate of the mixture showed large difference compared to that of the single volatile liquid.
As a part of evaluating the volatility of iodide ions subjected to gamma irradiation, $I_2$ evaporation experiments were performed with $I_2$ and $I^-$ mixed solutions in the temperature range $26-80^{\circ}C$ in an open, well-ventilated space. The evaporation of $I_2$ was observed to follow primarily first order kinetics, depending on the $I_2$ concentration. The evaporation rate constant increased rapidly with increase in temperature. The presence of $I^-$ slightly reduced the evaporation rate of $I_2$ by forming relatively stable $I_3^-$. The effect of $Cl^-$ at <1.0 wt% on $I_2$ evaporation was insignificant. The evaporation rate constants of $I_2$ were $1.3{\times}10^{-3}min^{-1}\;cm^{-2}$, $2.4{\times}10^{-2}min^{-1}\;cm^{-2}$, and $8.6{\times}10^{-2}min^{-1}\;cm^{-2}$, at $26^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$, and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively.

Films of Cr, Cu, and Al were deposited by the evaporation technique at the high vacuum level-high evaporation rate and the low vacuum level-low evaporation rate. We measured sheet resistance and light transmittance, and observed microstructure and diffraction pattern by TEM, and investigated oxygen content in thin film by AES. We discussed the relations among microstructure, sheet resistance, and light transmittance with AES data. We found that the films deposited at the high vacuum level-high evaporation rate have small oxygen content in thin film comparing to the films deposited at the low vacuum level-low vacuum level-low evaporation rate, and that the films having crystalline structure and larger grain size were formed in the case of the high vacuum level-high evaporation rate and they showed lower sheet resistance and lower light transmittance.
