  • In order to cultivate the human resources needed in the 4th industrial revolution era, it is necessary to select the gifted students and educate them systematically. Although excellent gifted students are important in a specific field, more convergent talents in the fields of mathematics, science, and information are required. The purpose of this study is to investigate how evaluation factors reflecting the characteristics of information gifted students affect the selection of science gifted students of a university gifted education center. In the characteristics of information gifted students, the cognitive factors such as Rule creation ability, Reasoning ability, Efficiency ability, Generalization ability, Structuring ability and Abstraction ability were highly correlated in selecting the science gifted students. Correlations in the applicants group of students for science gifted education center are higher than those in the first passers group and higher than those in the final successful candidates group. This means that the factors that shows the characteristics of the information gifted have a great influence on the selection of the science gifted.

  • We evaluated the need for prophylactic postoperative oral antibiotic medication in extraction of asymptomatic impacted mandibular third molars. All patient didn't show sign of pain, inflammation, swelling and trismus at the time of extraction. In the experimental group, oral antibiotic medication(Amoxicillin) was carried out for 5 days postoperatively. In the control group, the patients received no antibiotic medication. All groups didn't use antibiotic irrigation solution. Rule of group composition randomized. The surgical technique was the same in all cases. Parameters that were evaluated were infection, pain, facial swelling, trismus. We could not find any significant difference between the experimental and control groups.(P<0.05) The results of our study show that post operative oral prophylactic antibiotic medication after the extraction of impacted mandibular third molars does not contribute to less infection, pain, facial swelling and increased mouth opening after surgery. Therefore we suggest that prophylactic postoperative oral antibiotic medication is not needed in extraction of asymptomatic impacted mandibular third molars.

  • In this paper we present light weighted English-to-Korean and Korean-to-English mobile translators on smart phones. For natural translation and higher translation quality, translation engines are hybridized with Translation Memory (TM) and Rule-based translation engine. In order to maximize the usability of the system, we combined an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine and Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine as a Front-End and Back-end of the mobile translators. With the BLEU and NIST evaluation metrics, the experimental results show our E-K and K-E mobile translation equality reach 72.4% and 77.7% of Google translators, respectively. This shows the quality of our mobile translators almost reaches the that of server-based machine translation to show its commercial usefulness.

  • In this paper we propose a modified fuzzy min-max neural network model for pattern classification and discuss the usefulness of the model. We define a new hypercube membership function which has a weight factor to each of the feature within a hyperbox. The weight factor makes it possible to consider the degree of relevance of each feature to a class during the classification process. Based on the proposed model, a knowledge extraction method is presented. In this method, a list of relevant features for a given class is extracted from the trained network using the hyperbox membership functions and connection weights. Ft)r this purpose we define a Relevance Factor that represents a degree of relevance of a feature to the given class and a similarity measure between fuzzy membership functions of the hyperboxes. Experimental results for the proposed methods and discussions are presented for the evaluation of the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed methods.

  • The objective of this paper is to study De Morgan's thoughts on teaching and learning negative numbers. We studied De Morgan's point of view on negative numbers, and analyzed his didactical approaches for negative numbers. De Morgan make students explore impossible subtractions, investigate the rule of the impossible subtractions, and construct the signification of the impossible subtractions in succession. In De Morgan' approach, teaching and learning negative numbers are connected with that of linear equations, the signs of impossible subtractions are used, and the concept of negative numbers is developed gradually following the historic genesis of negative numbers. Also, we analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of the De Morgan's approaches compared with the mathematics curriculum.

  • Now a days, there's many change over for PACS among the most of hospital and it standard for DICOM 3.0. These kind of using of DICOM 3.0 improves increasing of medical imaging exchange and service for patient. However, there's some problems of compatibility caused during carry out CD and DVD from hospital. For this reason, this thesis analyzed patients image targeting those storages requested to hospitals in Seoul by using Validation Toolkit which is recommended from KFDA. The analyze type is like this. Make 100 data, total 500, each of MRI CT Plain x-ray Ultrasound PET-CT images and analyzed type of error occurred and loyalty of information. If express percentage of error occurred statistically, we can get a result as follows MRI 5%, Plain x-ray 11%, CT 18%, US 25%, PET-CT 30%. The reson why percentage of error occurred in PET-CT is because of imperfective support and we could notice that we weren't devoted to information. Even though, PET-CT showed highest percentage of error occurred, currently DICOM data improved a lot compare to past. Moreover, it should be devoted to rule of IHE TOOL or DICOM. In conclusion, we can help radiographer to analyze information of image by providing clues for solving primary problem and further more, each of PACS company or equipment company can enhance fidelity for following standard of image information through realizing the actual problem during transfer of image information.

  • The ISO/IEC 11179 Metadata registry (MDR) is an international standard that was developed to register and share metadata. ISO/IEC 11179 represents an MDR as a metamodel that is an object model. However, it is difficult to develop an MDR based on ISO/IEC 11179 because the standard has no clear criteria to transform the metamodel into a database. In this paper, we suggest the design of an MDR data model that is based on object-relational transformation methodology (ORTM) for the MDR implementation. Hence, we classify the transformation methods of ORTM according to the corresponding relationships. After classification, we propose modeling rules by defining the standard use of the transformation. This paper builds the relational database tables as an implementation result of an MDR data model. Through experiments and evaluation, we verify the proposed modeling rules and evaluate the suitability of the created table structures. As the result, the proposed method shows that the table structures preserve classes and relationships of the standard metamodel well.

  • In this paper we have evaluated the synthetic speech quality by the proposed TD-PCULI speech synthesis method. For the synthesis we have extracted parameters from the Korean monosyllables through the analysis of speech waveforms in the time domain. We have constructed the Korean data format dictionary for the synthesis-by-rule depending upon the frequencies of the Korean pronunciation large vocabulary dictionary, in which V type syllables are 19, CV type's are 80, VC type's are 30 and CVC type's are 100. And using them we have synthesized various Korean monosyllables, words and sentences. We have tested each 10 syllables selected according to the 4 Korean syllable types with the objective MOS(Mean Opinion Score) evluation method about the 4 items i.e., intelligibility, clearness, loudness, and naturality after selecting random group without the knowledge of them. And also we have tested the possibility to modify a duration and F0 into another forms with changing a duration (i.e., 150msec, 300msec, 500msec, 700msec and 1sec) and a central fundamental frequency(i.e., 80Hz, 118Hz, 140Hz, 170Hz, and 200Hz). As the results of experiments the noises occurred in the course of synthesizing the speech by the rules are removed to be a very clear level and we can find that the prosodic elements can be controled as a good condition.

  • This paper proposes a weighted fuzzy reasoning algorithm for rule-based systems based on weighted fuzzy Pr/T nets, where the certainty factors of the fuzzy production rules, the truth values of the predicates appearing in the rules and the weights representing the importance of the predicates are represented by the fuzzy numbers. The proposed algorithm is more flexible and much closer to human intuition and reasoning than other methods : $\circled1$ calculate the certainty factors using by the simple min and max operations based on the only certainty factors of the fuzzy production rules without the weights of the predicates[10] : $\circled2$ evaluate the belief of the fuzzy production rules using by the belief evaluation functions according to fuzzy concepts in the fuzzy rules without the weights of the predicates[12], because this algorithm uses the weights representing the importance of the predicates in the fuzzy production rules.

  • Peritonitis is a serious problem in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. Rarely pneumatosis intestinalis can occur as a complication of this infectious process. Pneumatosis intestinalis is a potential life threatening condition with a challenging management. The mortality of peritoneal dialysis patients with pneumalosis intestinalis secondary to mesenteric ischemia is almost 100%. We describe a rare case of pneumatosis intestinalis in a peritoneal dialysis patient who developed Staphylococcus aureus peritonitis which was initially treated with appropriate antibiotics. Since initial response to therapy was not achieved, an abdominal computerized tomography was done which revealed a pneumatosis intestinalis. A laparotomy was performed and small bowel necrosis was seen. A segmental resection with ileostomy, jejunostomy was done. Though surgical treatment was performed, the patient died in 2 weeks after admission. Pneumocystitis intestinalis in peritoneal dialysis peritonitis is a uncommon complication which requires prompt evaluation to rule out mesenteric ischemia as it carries a high mortality and its management will be surgical.
