  • A new way to integrate various geophysical information for evaluation of RQD was developed. In this study, we does not directly define the RQD value where borehole data are not sampled. Instead, we infer the probability of RQD values with prior probability of data directly obtained from borehole, and secondary supporting probability from resistivity and seismic tomography data. First, we applied the geostatstical indicator kriging to get prior probability of RQD value, and indicator kriging with soft data to get the supporting probability from resistivity and seismic data. And we finally applied the permanence ratio rule to integrate these information. The finally obtained result was also analyzed to fully utilize the probabilistic features. For example, we showed the probability of wrongly classifying the RQD evaluation and vice versa. This kind of analytical result may be used for decision making process based on the geophysical exploration.

  • In the paper. we propose an evaluation model based the adaptive fuzzy systems, which can transform the physical features of a color pattern to the emotional features. The model is motivated by the Soen's psychological experiments, in which he found the physical features such as average hue, saturation, intensity and the dynamic components of the color patterns affects to the emotional features represented by a pair of adjective words having the opposite meanings. Our proposed model consists of two adaptive fuzzy rule-bases and the y-model, a l i r ~ r ys et operator, to fuze the evaluation values produced by them. The model shows con~parablep erformances to the neural network for the approximation of the nonlinear transforms, and it has the advantage to obtain the linbwistic interpretation from the trained results. We believe the evaluated results of a color pattern can be used to the emotion-based color image retrievals.

  • This study evaluates the applicability of the classification rule of hydrological soil group proposed by Lee et al. (2018) with its application to three river basins (Jungmuncheon, Cheonmicheon, and Hancheon) in Jeju Island. The CN values are estimated as results of this application to these three basins, which is then compared with those estimated by applying the conventional three methods. Additionally, previous studies related with the classification of soil groups of Jesu Island, such as the infiltration and rainfall-runoff analysis, are reviewed to evaluate how the resulting hydrological soil groups vary depending on the adopted classification method.. Summarizing the results is as follows. (1) Comparison result of the hydrological soil groups of Jeju Island with respect to the classification method shows that the soil group B is dominant in the application of Lee et al. (2018). However, it is hydrological soil groups C and D in the application of Hu and Jung (1987), hydrological soil groups A and C in the application of Jung et al. (1995), and hydrological soil group D in the application of RDA (2007). (2) In all the applications of Lee et al. (2018) to three selected river basins in Jeju Island, the CN valuse are found to be smaller than those by other conventional three methods.. Lastly, (3) The evaluation results of previous studies related with the classification of hydrological soil groups analysis in Jeju Island shows that the CN value in the Jeju Island may be smaller than those estimated by conventional three methods, also the initial loss higher than 0.2S.

  • This study was first conducted to investigate the effect of post-mortem storage time of chicken meat on the quality of chicken breast, and to determine whether the current grading rule that is 'using the chicken meat within 2 day post-mortem (PM)' is appropriate or not at meat processing plants. Different methods such as freshness, lightness ($L^*$), total number of microbes, 2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), shear force and cooking loss were performed. Forty samples of different PM time (0~4 day) of chicken meat were stored in the refrigerator ($3^{\circ}C$). As a result of comparing the chicken meat of 2 day and 3 day PM, torrymeter value was 6.9 and 7.0, respectively. The other values are also as follows: lightness ($L^*$) 60.22 and 60.51, total number of microbes 4.20 and $4.31log_{10}CFU/g$, TBARS value 0.056 and 0.071 mg MDA/kg, shear force 1.43 and $1.59kg/cm^2$, and cooking loss 17.24 and 15.66%, respectively. As a result, these two groups were not significantly different (P<0.05). TBARS value of the chicken meat of 4 day PM was 0.088 mg MDA/kg which is significantly higher compared to 2~3 day PM (P<0.05). Thus, the result of the study suggests that using the chicken meat within 3 day PM is also possible. If the grading rule that is 'using the chicken meat within 2 day post-mortem (PM)' is changed to 3 day PM, it will allow processing plants and distributors to more flexibly use or distribute chicken meat.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop evaluation indicators forperformance improvement of horticultural therapy garden. In order to achieve a therapeutic purpose, the gardening activity held by the trained horticultural therapist. Moreover, horticultural therapy is 'a medical model' for the treatment and basic premise of the research was set, as horticultural therapy garden is characterized area to support activities of patients and horticultural therapist functionally and efficiently. For this study, three times of Delphi and AHP techniques were proceeded to export panels who were recruited by purposive sampling. Through these techniques, it was possible to deduct the evaluation indicator which maximizes the performance of the horticultural therapy garden. The evaluation items were prioritized by typing and stratification of the indicator. The results and discussions were stated as followings. Firstly, a questionnaire of experts was conducted to horticultural therapists and civil servants who were in charge of horticultural therapy. As results(horticultural therapists: 87.8%, civil servants: 75.2%), It is possible to conclude that both positions have the high recognition and agreed on the necessity of horticultural therapy. Secondly, Delphi investigation was conducted three times in order to develop the evaluation indicator for performance evaluation. After Delphi analysis, total 34 of evaluation elements to improve the performance of the horticultural therapy garden by reliability and validity analysis results. Thirdly, AHP analysis of each evaluation indicator was conducted on the relative importance and weighting. Moreover, the results showed 'interaction between nature and human' as the most important element, and in order of 'plan of the program', 'social interaction', 'sustainable environmental', and 'universal design rule', respectively. On the other hand, the exports from the university and research institute evaluated the importance of 'interaction between nature and human', while horticultural therapists chose 'plan of the program' as the most important element. Fourthly, the total weight was used to develop weight applied evaluation indicator for the performance evaluation of the horticultural therapy garden. The weight applying to evaluation index is generally calculated multiply the evaluation scores and the total weight using AHP analysis. Finally, 'the evaluation indicator and evaluation score sheet for performance improvement of the horticultural therapy garden' was finally stated based on the relative order of priority between evaluation indicators and analyzing the weight. If it was deducted the improvement points for the efficiency of already established horticultural therapy garden using the 'weight applied evaluation sheet', it is possible to expand it by judging the importance with the decision of the priority because the item importance decided by experts was reflected. Moreover, in the condition of new garden establishment, it is expected to be helpful in suggesting ways for performance improvement and in setting the guidelines by understanding the major indicators of performance improvement in horticultural therapy activity.

  • In this study, a methodology was developed to evaluate the effects produced in the event of joint-operation of dams from the viewpoint of water use. It was applied to evaluating the actual results of dam operation in the Han River basin. In order to evaluate the effects of real joint-operation in terms of water supply and flow conditions, the methodology used the satisfaction rate of water requirement and the stability of flow conditions at the evaluation site as indicator. In order to evaluate the effects of joint-operation in terms of power generation, the total power generation produced by dams was used as evaluation indicator. Actual operation results were evaluated by comparison of evaluation indicators relating to single dam operation by which the notified mont of water was supplied, as well as to optimization models. Results of actual joint-operation of the Han River basin, from 2001 to 2004, were compared yearly with results from single operation and optimization model; in terms of water supply, the satisfaction ratio of water requirement stood at $94.36{\sim}99.68%$ for single operation, $97.16{\sim}99.90%$ for actual joint-operation, and 100.0 % for optimization model for all four years. The stability of flow condition was evaluated by the coefficient of river regime and coefficient of flow conditions definitely, indicating that flow conditions were more stable in case of actual operation and optimization models than in case of single operation. The actual total power generation was compared with that generated by other operation rules, indicating that the optimization model increased the power generation by $-3.47{\sim}6.54%$ compared with the actual total power generation, and that the single operation decreased the power generation amount by $12.68{\sim}38.94%$ compared with the actual total power generation.

  • In terms of saving costs, energy and materials, the weight of cars has been gradually reduced by optimizing design of structure, which also gives us good performance. In compliance with this, it should satisfy the lifetime of cars for 25 years under the operation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the strength of fatigue using date from strain gauges attached carbody and bogie frame. This dynamic stress can be evaluated using S-N curve based on stress amplitude. Modified S-N curve by CORTON-DOLAN is used for more conservative and substantial evaluation. In addition, !he loadings itself of carbody and bogie frame are considered by calculating the rate of the differences which are occurred between empty car and fuiiy occupied car with passengers. Rainflow cycle counting method is applied to arrange the stress data for the modified S-N curve to predict lifetime of the materials. Conclusively the cumulative damages are not only calculated by Miner's Rule, but the safety factors are also determined by Goodman diagram.

  • The main objective of this research is to build a behavior prediction model of gameplay for MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game using the GOMS analysis method. GOMS analysis is an observational approach to HCI(Human Computer Interaction) to model and predict behaviors of a human operator in a highly interactive task. In this research, a pilot experiment was previously conducted with three skilled gamers. The gamers were provided with the goals and operators through the user's guide book, and they found methods and selection rules while being observed. Based on the results obtained from the pilot study, this research was expanded and the model was further tested with 30 subjects (game experts). The new outcomes revealed that the relevance of GOMS analysis for predicting selection rules is 96.25% according to the degree of abstraction and 77.35% based on the degree of complexity. This research will provide game designers with a new testing mechanism in the early development stages, in order to improve the quality of the game product.

  • This paper describes a methodology for automating the material handling equipment (MHE) evaluation and selection processes by combining knowledge-based rules and fuzzy multi-criteria decision making approach. The methodology is proposed to solve the MHE selection problems under fuzzy environment. At the primary stage, the most appropriate MHE type among the alternatives for each material flow link is searched. Knowledge-based rules are employed to retrieve the alternatives for each material flow link. To consider and compare the alternatives, multiple design factors are considered. These factors include both quantitative and qualitative measures. The qualitative measures are converted to numerical measures using fuzzy logic. The concept of fuzzy logic is applied to evaluation matrices used for the selection of the most suitable MHE through a fuzzy linguistic approach. Thus, this paper demonstrates the potential applicability of fuzzy theory in the MHE applications and provides a systemic guidance in the decision-making process.
