  • Various wireless communication devices or network such as WRAN and WLAN will coexist in the TVWS(TV White Space). Because of this coexistence, the wireless devices which use the TVWS have to avoid interfering to not only licensed TV receiver and wireless microphone but also homogeneous or heterogeneous TVBD(TV Band Device)s. In this paper, we propose two frequency sharing methods for the coexistence of WLAN and WRAN in terms of interference reduction and throughput enhancement in both homogeneous and heterogeneous networks. One is the WRAN spectrum etiquette to provide more wide bandwidth for WLAN users and the other is the WLAN frequency selection methods to improve the throughput performance. The simulation results have confirmed the throughput improvement of the proposed methods. Moreover, the proposed methods is also applicable to improve the throughput performance and reduce interference of similar systems working in a cognitive manner.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify factors related to compliance with respiratory infection preventive behaviors including hand washing, cough etiquette, and oral hygiene of older adults. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a convenience sample of 100 older adults (mean age: $76.11{\pm}6.35$ years, female: 86.0%). Data were collected from a community senior center through face to face interviews by using instruments including measuring knowledge, perceived threat, self-efficacy, compliance with respiratory infection preventive behaviors. Results: The mean score of knowledge was 7.52 out of 13 in total. The compliance with hand washing with soap was 6.0% for 8 or more times per day. Among the participants, 12.0% adhered to the cough etiquette. Sixty-two older adults (62.0%) didn't use interdental brushes or floss at all. The stepwise linear regression indicated that age and self-efficacy for respiratory infection preventive behaviors were significant factors and explained 24.0% of the compliance with hand washing and the cough etiquette. Education level, cancer diagnosis, and self-efficacy for respiratory infection preventive behaviors were significant predictors of oral hygiene. The factor with the greatest effect was self-efficacy in the two models. Conclusion: The findings suggest that it is necessary to improve compliance with respiratory infection preventive behaviors among older adults using senior centers. In order to enhance the compliance, it is necessary to develop nursing programs based on the self-efficacy for respiratory infection preventive behaviors in the senior centers.

  • This is a historical study of the tea culture and its manners after checking the origin of the tea culture in Korea. Also I created the Blooming Lotus Pond Tea which can be utilized in various meetings or at homes in connection with the tea culture and etiquette by studying good manners, clothing and light refreshments in 'Kyucongyogyul' by Lee-E, 'Karyejibramdo' by Kim Jang-Seng and other books of the Chosun Dynasty. I created the Blooming Lotus Pond Tea by referring to the tea-ceremonies described in the poems by Hong Inmo, his wife, Lady Suh, and her descendants. They can be better harmonized with the modem tea culture rather than the strict procedures of traditional court ceremonies or marriage, funeral, and other formal tea ceremonies. About the costumes of the nobilities, that is especially referred to Kyukmongyogyul by Lee-I of the Chosun Dynasty for the etiquette, also 'The Living Manners' by Professor Lee Gilpyo and Choi Baeyong. In addition, the tea-food is made based on 'the five elements'. The Blooming Lotus Pond Tea is made of frozen lotus flowers and prepared in the lotus formed broad-rimmed tea-utensils and supposed to be shared with family members or guests. It's recommended to hold a poetry-party with a tea-party. At present, this kind of daily tea ceremony is being developed at homes. It'll be desirable if it could recreate the traditional way as a ceremonial tea culture. In that case, it'll regain the quality of the traditional etiquette by harmonizing tea culture and manners. Such a tea culture can contribute to the quality of people's ordinary life and the identity of our country.

All data were segregated according to the departmental frequencies and their contents. To come up with for environmental and patient satisfaction improvement, all complaints or issues were communicated with hospital administrators, medical and nursing staff and employees. Comprehensive customer satisfaction activities including improving phone etiquette were discussed in Customer Satisfaction Team, CQI Team and each Department. All opportunities for improvement were implemented. Feedback actions were discussed. Results : A total of 317 cases were collected. Issues regarding parking and other accommodation facilities were most common complaints that were 14.5% of total. Issues regarding admission rooms (10.7%), admission procedures (10.7%), waiting room environment (8.8%), nurses and nurse assistants (7.6%), physicians (6.6%) and others (23%) followed. Thirteen of 45 departments received more than 8 complaints. The Nursing Department had the most complaint, receiving 9.8% of total complaints. Complaints regarding the Nursing Department were predominantly related to the environment of patient rooms. The Department of Psychiatry for phone etiquette (4.7%), Department of Otolaryngology for the nursing staff's attitude and phone etiquette (4.4%), and the Admission Department followed. As a part of efforts to improve patient satisfaction, a new parking structure was built and reallocation of the parking space was done. Renovation of other accommodation facilities were carried out by hospital administration, Monthly phone call and answering attitude survey was done by QI Department. Based on this survey we made a phone etiquette manual and distributed throughout the hospital. Compare to the last year, Patient Satisfaction Index measured by Korea Productivity Center using National Customer Satisfaction Index was improved 7 points. According to our organization's own study, we confirmed the phone etiquette was improved 11% than last year. Conclusions : Issues related to parking and other accommodation facilities ranked first followed by complaints made regarding the patient care area, the admission and cashier process, and nurses' and doctors' attitude. The Nursing and Psychiatry Departments need improvement regarding phone etiquette. Results were shared and played a vital role in policymaking and strategic planning of the hospital. It is imperative that we keep our database updated by listening to and solving the needs of each patient. The CQI activities can be achieved only by full commitment of the hospital top management supported by related personal.

  • The following experiment was designed to test the students' involvement in the interactive activities and objectives of the relevant chapters in the newly revised curriculum of 2007. The experiment was carried out with the purpose of understanding the level of participation of the Grade 9 students who have successfully completed the Grade 8 "Choice of Food and Diet" and "Table Manners and Dining Etiquette" courses with classified materials such as tables/diagrams/pictures, reading, and activity resources from Technology Home Economics textbooks. The chapters "Choice of Food and Diet" and "Food Preparation and Etiquette" generally emphasize the practical and experiential part of domestic life through using various activity resources; while the tables/diagrams/pictures and reading materials do not provide the students with first-hand experience, they support the students' learning by explaining the basic knowledge required for doing the activities and solving various problems. Within the main training courses, the objectives which the students achieved the highest marks were(in a descending order) "Table Manners and Dining Etiquette" (3.24), "Checking Nutrition Labels, Food Expiration Date, Country of Origin When Buying Food" (3.18), Additionally "Making Food" and "Planning a Healthy, Balanced Diet" hardly met the goals, the result of which shows clear relations to the well achieved objectives from the list of in-class activities that students directly participated in. Therefore, in order to increase the students' interest in the Food and Diet section of Technology Home Economics textbooks, it is recommended to encourage the students to actively engage in the class activities by developing various learning resources and teacher education/pedagogical materials, rather than following the conventional lecture-based teaching methods.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the nutritional knowledge and eating behavior of elementary school senior students in Incheon area and to develope education program appropriate for them. Questionnaire was developed and distributed to 551 fifth and sixth grade students of fourteen elementary schools in Incheon area. The data was analyzed using ANOVA. According to the results on nutritional knowledge and attitude, senior students were aware of major sources of some nutrients, but didn't seemed to know about the role of some nutrients. Nevertheless, it was favorable that they took various food from major food groups. But the proportion of students skipping breakfast and taking instant food was high. Their table etiquette was not good at home, but attitude for food hygiene was comparatively good. They recognized Korean traditional food more nutritious than fast food. Even though they understood what was right for eating behavior, they didn't practice it correctly. From these results, it seemed that follow-up study or intervention is necessary to improve nutritional knowledge and eating behavior of the students. Qualified teachers, nutrition specialists, are required in order to develop and apply systematic nutrition education program for correcting inappropriate eating behavior of the students. Furthermore, nutrition education for their parents will be more effective.
