Variation in demand, natural resource availability, and technological advancement within a country are the main reasons for necessitating export and import activities between nations. Accordingly, this paper aims to analyze the effect of economic openness on Multifactor Productivity (MFP) in selected Asian countries (Vietnam, Thailand, The Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and Singapore) based on data for the period 1990-2018. The analysis conducted in the study employed the panel ARDL approach based on the estimation by Pooled Mean Group (PMG), Mean Group (MG), and Dynamic Fixed Effect (DFE). The Hausman test conducted indicates that the PMG estimation is better than that of MG and DFE since it has a higher variability value than the significance value. The results revealed that economic openness is able to elicit significant and positive effects on short-term and long-term MFP growth. In addition, the study established that other variable, such as the number of schooling years, are also able to produce a positive and significant effect on MFP growth in the long term. Since economic openness can impact MFP growth, every country should thus increase its export activities through more capital and worker inputs that will stimulate greater production.

As safety-related regulations for signaling systems are standardized to IEC 61508/62278/62425, and others at the international level, safety activities and its assessment are required to be performed. And also there is the need to develop technologies for safety improvement to secure safety signaling systems in terms of technologies for safety activities on each life-cycle. In this paper we have developed the safety activity processes and technologies each steps of proposed processes respectively for railway signaling systems. And the proposed process and technologies are applied to the safety activities for mock-up signaling systems.

One of the main cases of the desertification impact is the negative contribution of human activities that worsen environment. There are historical facts of inability and excessive activities which destroyed the civilizations. The basic difference is only in the tempo and scales of civilization collapse. Human pressure was accumulated within the centuries and millennia due to the extremely active economic activities. But today it covers only the decades. Presently the process of desertification has a global scale. There are huge factors of Earth aridization as an increase of the quantity of C02 and atmospheric dust and bloom. This process related not only to the arid areas. Obviously a comprehensive approach of development of territories, particularly arid areas is very important. The use of the satellite information and technologies of remote sensing data processing can take a significant place for decision-makers for calculation and estimation of the environment impacts.
DSM activities have grown and matured over several years in Korea. KEPCO is currently offering some DSM programs in industrial, commercial, and residential customers such as rebate program in purchasing efficient measures. The systematic evaluation process of energy savings and peak reduction will be very important for deciding on the optimal investment of DSM activities in utilities in the future. In general, the estimation process of the potential savings of DSM activities include the determination of baseline electricity consumption, the instantaneous technical potential (ITP), the phased technical potential (PTP), the economic potential (EP), and the achievable potential (AP). The purpose of this article is to provide evaluation process of those DSM potential savings based on bottom-up approach and applicate to residential sector in Korea. In case study, ITP, EP are estimated to be respectively 21.5%, 5.7% of total energy consumption, and 4.1%, 2.5% of peak load in 2010.

This study examines the factors influencing loyalty to cultural arts events using data from the Survey Report on National Culture and Arts Activity in 2022 and 2023. The dependent variable is a binary variable representing the intention to revisit in the future, which serves as a proxy for loyalty. Given that the dependent variable is binary, the logit model specification is employed to estimate the average marginal effects. The estimation results indicate that audience satisfaction exerts the strongest influence on loyalty in both years. It can be observed that participation in cultural arts events is the second most important variable in determining loyalty. This suggests that the government should support the expansion of the scope of these activities and the diversification of programs in order to facilitate greater participation in a wider range of cultural arts activities.

In this paper, a kidnapping detection scheme in which human pose estimation is used to classify accurately between kidnapping cases and normal ones is proposed. To estimate human poses from input video, human's 10 joint information is extracted by OpenPose library. In addition to the features which are used in the previous study to represent the size change rates and the regularities of human activities, the human pose estimation features which are computed from the location of detected human's joints are used as the features to distinguish kidnapping situations from the normal accompanying ones. A frame-based kidnapping detection scheme is generated according to the selection of J48 decision tree model from the comparison of several representative classification models. When a video has more frames of kidnapping situation than the threshold ratio after two people meet in the video, the proposed scheme detects and notifies the occurrence of kidnapping event. To check the feasibility of the proposed scheme, the detection accuracy of our newly proposed scheme is compared with that of the previous scheme. According to the experiment results, the proposed scheme could detect kidnapping situations more 4.73% correctly than the previous scheme.
According to the "FDI-as-market-discipline" hypothesis, inward FDI acts as a mechanism of change in market structure affecting innovative activities of domestic firms. We used panel KIS data for testing this hypothesis. Binary probit estimation shows that, in contrast to the German case of Bertschek (1995), FDI is insignificant in Korean case for explaining product innovation. 1his result maybe comes from the fact that the industries in Korea are more monopolistic or oligopolistic than those of Germany. Using panel data, we tried random parameter estimation using matrix weighted average of GLS and OLS. The result shows different estimates from cross-section outcome and panel estimation with parameter homogeneity, so we can infer large parameter heterogeneity across firms. But, interpretation for FDI variable is similar across panel and cross-section estimation.

Accurate estimation of the Earth gravity field plays an important role in understanding the Earth geodynamic activities. After brief discussion on the objective of the gravity estimation, dedicated satellite missions for this purpose are described. Recently launched NASA/DLR Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) mission, which consists of two co-orbiting low altitude satellites, is described. For the performance analysis, full numerical simulation was performed. The simulation procedure and its key instrument modelings are described. From the simulation results, a significant improvement on the Earth gravity field accuracy is expected.
The effects of recording interval (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 min) on the estimation of some grazing behavior variables in beef cows and calves (<4 months old) were investigated in a daytime grazing (7 h) system utilizing a bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Flugge) pasture (a 1.1 ha paddock and a 0.4 ha resting area). Recording intervals of 10-30 min tended to underestimate the time spent grazing and ruminating and overestimate the time spent resting by animals, whereas intervals of 1-5 min resulted in almost constant estimates. In all grazing activities, the errors of estimation became larger when the recording interval exceeded 5 min. The accuracy of estimation was higher for grazing time>rumination time>resting time. An increase in recording interval always decreased estimates of the distance walked by animals. It was concluded that recording intervals of 1-5 min provide reliable estimates of the time spent grazing, ruminating and resting. It was also concluded that positioning of animals at 1 min intervals may provide estimates of walking distance with acceptable bias toward underestimation.

Remote sensing(RS)- and geographic information system(GIS)-based information management to measure and assess agri-environment schemes, and to quantify and map environment indicators for nature and land use, climate change, air, water and energy balance, waste and material flow is in high demand because it is very helpful in assisting decision making activities of farmers, government, researchers, and consumers. The versatility and ability of RS and GIS containing huge soil database to assess agricultural environment spatially and temporally at various spatial scales were investigated. Spectral and microwave observations were carried out to characterize crop variables and soil properties. Multiple sources RS data from ground sensors, airborne sensors, and also satellite sensors were collected and analyzed to extract features and land cover/use for soils, crops, and vegetation for support precision agriculture, soil/land suitability, soil property estimation, crop growth estimation, runoff potential estimation, irrigated and the estimation of flooded areas in paddy rice fields. RS and GIS play essential roles in a management and monitoring information system. Biosphere-atmosphere interection should also be further studied to improve synergistic modeling for environment and sustainability in agri-environment schemes.
