  • The domestic solar radial ion data have been measured at 16 different sites all over the country since the beginning of 1980. It is very important that the fundamental data for the estimation and assessment of local solar radiation can be secured this project. In order to estimate available energy resource from solar radiation, it is necessary to have enough data, more than 30 years In any country. However since we have collected solar radiation(global radial ion including direct normal radiation) data only for 10 years we still need to measure insolation to secure the reliability and standardization of measured local solar radial ion data. In brief, the major activities on this R&D include rout me maintenance of the national network for insolation data measurement, evaluation of the collected data, and reliability enhancement for assessing the quality of solar radiation data as well.

  • Due to the emergence of open innovation driven by development of network service technologies and convergence in ICT service industry, It is necessary for ICT service firms to examine their capabilities for open innovation. The purpose of this paper is to empirically examine determinants affecting open innovation in Korean ICT service industry. In order to analyze, this paper uses logistic and multiple regression models based on survey data of Korean ICT service firms. Estimation results show that external network for collaboration is positive on the technological innovation activity regardless of the innovation type. Specifically, user networks are significant in all types of technology innovation, revealing that it is important to innovation activities of the ICT service firms.

  • The objectives of this study is to introduce and apply neural network theory to real hydrologic systems for stochastic nonlinear predicting of daily runoff discharge in the river catchment. Back propagation algorithm of neural network model is applied for the estimation of daily stochastic runoff discharge using historical daily rainfall and observed runoff discharge. For the fitness and efficiency analysis of models, the statistical analysis is carried out between observed discharge and predicted discharge in the chosen runoff periods. As the result of statistical analysis, method 3 which has much processing elements of input layer is more prominent model than other models(method 1, method 2) in this study. Therefore, on the basis of this study, further research activities are needed for the development of neural network algorithm for the flood prediction including real-time forecasting and for the optimal operation system of dams and so forth.

  • In the railway system, transportation plan corresponds to a m aster plan for transport services. This service plan must be constructed to minimize operational cost or maximize revenue considering transportation demands and resource capacities in the railway operation company, and it includes several sub-planning activities such as train operation frequency plan, train (schedule) plan, train capacity assignment plan, and rolling stock requirement plan. In these sub- planning processes, train can be con side red as a product for providing customer services, and customer demands and operational advantages must be considered. In this paper, we present an effect estimation system for the train capacity pattern in a train schedule, and the effect of capacity pattern can be expressed as minimum spilled demand, minimum train service cost, and maximum train revenue or profit.

  • Forestry and agricultural land uses constitute 85% of Korea and these land uses are typically mixed in many watersheds. Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) concentration is a primary factor for managing water qualities of the water resources in Korea. BOD loadings from diffuse sources, however, not well monitored yet. This study aims to assess BOD loadings from diffuse sources and their affecting factors to conserve quality of water resources. Event Mean Concentration (EMC) of BOD was calculated based on the monitoring data of forty rainfall events at four agricultural-forestry watersheds. Exceedence cumulative probability of BOD EMCs were plotted to show agricultural activities in a watershed impacts on the magnitude of EMCs. Prediction equation for each rainfall event was proposed to estimate BOD EMCs: $EMC_{BOD}(mg/L)=EXP(0.413+0.0000001157{\times}$(discharged runoff volume in $m^3$)+0.018${\times}$(ratio of agricultural land use to total watershed area).

  • In this research, we have selected the regions of Naerin river and Inbuk river where agricultural activities are actively carried out in the upper Soyang Reservoir and we have observed the changes of water quality while raining after finding out the characteristics of the outflow of floating materials by measuring the water quantity and water quality in division of rainy season and non-rainy season for those floating materials of generating pollutions of turbidity and malnutrition of the water for 4 year from 2002 to 2005. Results of the observation showed that the outflow of floating materials is significantly affected by the surface outflow of rain water, in particular, the surface outflow was great in June -August period of flood seasons.

  • The in vitro construction of osteo-articular large implants combining biomaterials and cells is of great interest since these tissues have limited regeneration capability. But the development of such organoids is particularly challenging, especially in the later time of the culture, when the extracellular matrix has almost filled the initial porous network. The fluid flow needed to efficiently perfuse the sample can then not be achieved using only the hydraulic driving force. In this paper, we investigate the interest of using an electric field to promote mass transport through the scaffold at the late stage of the culture. Based on the resolution of the electrokinetics equations, this study provides an estimation of the necessary electric driving force to reach a sufficient oxygen perfusion through the sample, thus analyzing the feasibility of this concept. The possible consequences of such electric fields on cellular activities are then discussed.

  • We analyze how firms' global production activities affect their inventory supply and financial performance in regards to its production location. For the analysis, we use information on global production quantities of 3,076 Korean multinational firms that operate business in Europe and Asia through foreign direct investment (FDI) from 2006 to 2013. Our estimation results show that an increase in global production ratio, measured by global production/total production, decreases inventory supply and financial performance of firms that produce in European countries, while it decreases financial performance of firms that produce in Asian countries. Although our results indicate that global production decreases financial performance of firms that produce in Europe and Asia, we find that its negative effects on financial performance are different based on the market demand uncertainty.

  • This study investigates how and through which channels R&D activities influences the national economy, using a macro-econometric model. The macro-econometric model in this study includes 24 behavioral equations and 25 identities and was estimated using the annual data. From a simulation analysis, it is shown that the R&D investment has a permanent effect on real variables; lowering prices, wages and interest rates, and increasing potential and real GDP in the long run. It is noted that the national account was recalculated to avoid double-counting in estimation of R&D stocks.

  • In order to understand the characteristics of sedimentary environments in Ulleung Basin of the East Sea (Sea of Japan), three sediment cores were taken with a box corer during R/V Tamyang cruise in October 1999. Activities of $^{7}Be,{\;}^{210}Pb,{\;}^{226}Ra,{\;}^{234}Th,{\;}^{238}{\;}and{\;}^{137}Cs$ in sediment samples were determined by non-destructive gamma-ray spectrometry. Rates of sedimentation and particle mixing were estimated by best fitting an advectiondiffusion particle mixing model to the data of $^{7}Be,{\;}^{234}Th,{\;}and{\;}^{210}Pb$. Estimated sedimentation rates were 0.06-0.08 cm/yr and particle mixing rates were $0.13-0.65{\;}\textrm{cm}^2/yr$. The use of multiple tracers in our study prevented us from probable up to 38% overestimation of sedimentation rates.
