Radial Reference Map-Based Location Fingerprinting Technique

  • In this paper, we propose a radial reference map-based location fingerprinting technique with constant spacing from an access point (AP) to all reference points by considering the minimum dynamic range of the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) obtained through an experiment conducted in an indoor environment. Because the minimum dynamic range, 12 dBm, of the RSSI appeared every 20 cm during the training stage, a cell spacing of 80 cm was applied. Furthermore, by considering the minimum dynamic range of an RSSI in the location estimation stage, when an RSSI exceeding the cumulative average by ${\pm}6dBm$ was received, a previously estimated location was provided. We also compared the location estimation accuracy of the proposed method with that of a conventional fingerprinting technique that uses a grid reference map, and found that the average location estimation accuracy of the conventional method was 21.8%, whereas that of the proposed technique was 90.9%.

GEOLOGICAL AGE AND THICKNESS ESTIMATION OF LAVA AT MARE CRISIUM BY LUNAR SURFACE GIS

  • SELENE, a Japanese lunar mission, has been launched this year. There are large volumes of images that were already archived and will be archived by missions such as SELENE. Automatic image analysis systems, which extract useful information from large amounts of data, are now required. The authors propose Lunar Surface GIS, which archives lunar surface information collected by lunar orbiting spacecraft and conducts geological analysis automatically. This system includes automatic crater detection, automatic age determination, and lava thickness estimation methods. In this paper, methods for automatically determining the age and estimating the lava thickness of lunar mare are described. The lunar surface age was determined by analyzing data of detected crater size and number using a crater chronology method. Lava thickness was estimated by the extent of the overlying material around the crater as well as the composition of underlying terrain units. In this result, the age map at Mare Crisium suggests the mare had been formed 3.0-3.7 b.y. ago. The lava thickness result suggests the thickest part of the mare is distributed around the center of the mare. The Lunar Surface GIS can produce a geological map, age map, and mare lava thickness map, for example.

  • It is necessary to analysis the data characteristics of discharge and water quality for efficient water resources management, aggressive alternatives to inundation by flood and various water pollution accidents, the basic information to manage water quality in lakes and to make environmental policy. Therefore, the present study applied Self-Organizing Map (SOM) showing excellent performance in classifying patterns with weights estimated by self-organization. The result revealed five patterns and TOC versus rainfall-storage data according to the respective patterns were depicted in two-dimensional plots. The visualization presented better understanding of data distribution pattern. The result in the present study might be expected to contribute to the modeling procedure for data prediction in the future.

시각 장애인 보행안내를 위한 장애물 분포의 3차원 검출 및 맵핑 (3D Detection of Obstacle Distribution and Mapping for Walking Guide of the Blind)

  • In walking guide robot, a guide vehicle detects an obstacle distribution in the walking space using range sensors, and generates a 3D grid map to map the obstacle information and the tactile display. And the obstacle information is transferred to a blind pedestrian using tactile feedback. Based on the obstacle information a user plans a walking route and controls the guide vehicle. The algorithm for 3D detection of an obstacle distribution and the method of mapping the generated obstacle map and the tactile display device are proposed in this paper. The experiment for the 3D detection of an obstacle distribution using ultrasonic sensors is performed and estimated. The experimental system consisted of ultrasonic sensors and control system. In the experiment, the detection of fixed obstacles on the ground, the moving obstacle, and the detection of down-step are performed. The performance for the 3D detection of an obstacle distribution and space mapping is verified through the experiment.

다중 도메인 학습을 이용한 화면 촬영 영상 내 모아레 무늬 제거 기법 (Screen-shot Image Demorieing Using Multiple Domain Learning)

  • 본 논문은 다중 도메인 학습을 이용하여 화면 촬영 영상 내 모아레 무늬를 효과적으로 제거하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 먼저 화소값 영역과 주파수 영역에서 입력 영상의 모아레 무늬를 각각 제거한다. 다음으로 모아레 영상에서 clean edge map을 추정하고, 추정된 clean edge map을 가이드 정보로 사용하여 화소값 영역과 주파수 영역에서 얻은 결과 영상의 품질을 향상시킨다. 마지막으로, 독립적으로 향상된 두 결과 영상을 적응적으로 결합하며 모아레 무늬가 제거된 최종 결과 영상을 생성한다. 컴퓨터 모의 실험결과를 통해 제안하는 기법이 기존의 알고리즘보다 모아레 무늬를 더욱 효과적으로 제거할 수 있음을 확인한다.

Voxel-wise UV parameterization and view-dependent texture synthesis for immersive rendering of truncated signed distance field scene model

  • In this paper, we introduced a novel voxel-wise UV parameterization and view-dependent texture synthesis for the immersive rendering of a truncated signed distance field (TSDF) scene model. The proposed UV parameterization delegates a precomputed UV map to each voxel using the UV map lookup table and consequently, enabling efficient and high-quality texture mapping without a complex process. By leveraging the convenient UV parameterization, our view-dependent texture synthesis method extracts a set of local texture maps for each voxel from the multiview color images and separates them into a single view-independent diffuse map and a set of weight coefficients for an orthogonal specular map basis. Furthermore, the view-dependent specular maps for an arbitrary view are estimated by combining the specular weights of each source view using the location of the arbitrary and source viewpoints to generate the view-dependent textures for arbitrary views. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively synthesizes texture for an arbitrary view, thereby enabling the visualization of view-dependent effects, such as specularity and mirror reflection.

통계적 바람장모형에의한 고해상도(1Km×1Km)풍력에너지지도 작성에 관한 연구 (The Establishment of a High Resolution(1Km×1Km) Wind Energy Map Based on a Statistical Wind Field Model)

  • 본 논문은 남한지역 풍력자원의 계량화 및 바람환경분석 등에 필요한 풍력에너지지도를 고해상도로 작성하는 방법을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 $1Km{\times}1Km$ 격자로 나누어진 남한전역(345,682 지점)의 월별풍속에 적합한 통계적 바람장모형을 설정하여 각종 풍력에너지통계를 $1Km{\times}1Km$ 격자지점 별로 계산하고, 통계값들를 지도로 구현하는 절차를 연구하였다. 바람장모형의 적합성검정에는 국내 76개 기상관측소에서 관측된 TMY (typical meteorological year) 바람자료가 사용되었으며, Kolmogrov-Smirnov 검정결과 로그정규모형이 남한지역의 월별 바람장모형에 적합하였다. 또한 로그정규모형 하에서 얻어지는 다양한 형태의 풍력에너지통계들을 소개하였으며, 국립기상연구소가 제공하는 $1Km{\times}1Km$ 격자지점(345,682 지점)의 풍속자료를 사용하여 남한(지상 80m)의 풍력에너지밀도(W/$m^2$)지도를 공간분포도 형태로 작성해 보였다.

위성영상을 이용한 비접근지역의 지형정보 획득 및 정확도 평가 (Acquisition and Accuracy Assessment of topographic information of inaccessible areas)

  • It is transformed map data of different coordinate system into unique system and We triedto make topographic map on non-accessible area. We transformed Russian map coordinates(Krassovsky, G-K projection) intoWGS-84, TM projection and assessed accuracy. The RMSE(in East and West bearings : ${\pm}$13.67m, in North and South bearings : ${\pm}$14.67m) using only SCP(Survey Control Point) is more accurate than that(in East and West bearings : ${\pm}$24.26m, in North and South bearings : ${\pm}$25.32m) using SCP, intersection of road, bridge. Exterior orientation parameters are estimated using rigorous modelling and GCPs are classified with SCP, intersection of road, bridge. Rigorous modelling is performed with each classified GCP. The modelling result usingonly SCP(in East and West bearings : ${\pm}$13.53m, in North and South bearings : ${\pm}$14.22m) is more accurate than that using intersection of road(in East and West bearings : ${\pm}$16.l1m, in North and South bearings: ${\pm}$23.85m), bridge(in East and West bearings : ${\pm}$17.21m, in North and South bearings : ${\pm}$21.82m). The results means that SCP is more accurate than intersection of road, bridge because of edit to generate map. therefore, SCP is suitable for object of GCP in paper map(1:50,000). Geographic information on non-accessible area and analysis is performed. The results of stereoscopic plotting is well matched old map data on road, railroad but, many objects are generally editted. It is possible to update on new objects(building, tributary ‥‥etc). Ability of description using SPOT-5(stereo) is more than features and items included in 1:50,000 topographic map. Therefore, it is possible to make large scale map than 1:50,000 topographic map using SPOT-5 imagery. But, there are many problems(accurate GCPs, obtain of high resolution stereoscopic satellite imagery in a period ‥‥ etc) to make topographic map on non-accessible area. It is actually difficult to solve these problems. therefore, it is possible to update 1:50,000 topographic map in part of topographic map generation.

Speech Enhancement Using Phase-Dependent A Priori SNR Estimator in Log-Mel Spectral Domain

  • We propose a novel phase-based method for single-channel speech enhancement to extract and enhance the desired signals in noisy environments by utilizing the phase information. In the method, a phase-dependent a priori signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is estimated in the log-mel spectral domain to utilize both the magnitude and phase information of input speech signals. The phase-dependent estimator is incorporated into the conventional magnitude-based decision-directed approach that recursively computes the a priori SNR from noisy speech. Additionally, we reduce the performance degradation owing to the one-frame delay of the estimated phase-dependent a priori SNR by using a minimum mean square error (MMSE)-based and maximum a posteriori (MAP)-based estimator. In our speech enhancement experiments, the proposed phase-dependent a priori SNR estimator is shown to improve the output SNR by 2.6 dB for both the MMSE-based and MAP-based estimator cases as compared to a conventional magnitude-based estimator.

The Depth and Configuration of The Basement at Sokotra Basin, Offshore Korea Using Marine Magnetics

  • Marine magnetic survey were carried out at Sokotra Basin offshore Korea between latitudes $31^{\circ}$ 42'32' N and $32^{\circ}$ 46'29' N, and longitudes $123^{\circ}$ 56'26" E and $125^{\circ}$ 49'16" E in order to estimate the depth of basement complex and as well as to configure it surface and produce the thickness of sedimentary sequence at the study area. Two methods have been used for depth estimation and basement configuration: the power spectrum and the 3-D analytical signal. The estimated depths resulted from the power spectrum method range from 1.4 km to 6.0 km for deep sources (basement troughs), and from 0.3 km to 1.75 km for shallow source (basement peaks). An isopach map was prepared for estimating the thickness of the sedimentary sequence at the study area; it ranges from 1.2 to 4.66 km. The estimated depths resulted from the analytic signal method range from 1.0 to 6 km. A basement configuration map was constructed for the study area in the basin. They show a well agreement with the geology of the study area.
