Recently as the interest on Esthetic Dental Prosthesis is arising, the domains of Esthetic Dentistry is being widely investigated. Esthetic Dental Prosthesis is influenced greatly by the shape, color, tooth arrangement of the teeth and the facial features(including the lips). So the degree to which these characters harmonize will be the professional esthetical standard while the satisfaction of the patient will be another esthetical measure. The reason for this is that each and every one of us has a different standard of what is considered beautiful. Of course it doesn't mean that every standard is correct. Then what does Esthetical Prosthesis mean and what should the standard be? This must be defined as a prosthesis that satisfies the basic requirements - margin, contour, occlusion, and at the same time it should restore the shape, color, and tooth arrangement which the client(patient) would love to have. As Esthetic Prosthesis contains its subjective meaning a great deal, it shouldn't be simply distinguished between the beauty of the teeth itself or ugliness. Also in some case, it needs surgical treatment to make it harmonious in the whole aspect so that one may keep the feeling of satisfaction and security. Then what is the shape, color, tooth arrangement that each individual wants? There is an indefinite variety. For example, considering arrangement both regular and irregular is considered beautiful by each different individual. Regular arrangement may be the standard of beauty for some, while irregular arrangement may be thought of as natural looking and beautiful. That is why there must be enough communication with the patient and an agreement be made at the clinic before a diagnostic plan and actual surgery. The treatment plan as mentioned above must be sent to the dental laboratory. In this research, by using case studies, I am going to the importance and appropriateness of the data and information for the dental technician's esthetic prosthesis.

Anterior maxillary teeth play an important role in determining a person's first impression and facial profile. Implant surgery in esthetic area requires more careful diagnosis, treatment planning, surgery, and prosthetic restoration than in posterior area. To avoid complications in surgery and prosthetic restoration for implants in esthetic area, accurate diagnosis and appropriate case selection become very important. If you have decided to restore the area with implant prosthesis, you have to know exactly where to place an implant. I will discuss the ideal implant position in terms of mesio-distally, apico-coronally, labio-palatally, and implant angulation. And I would like to point out the selection of fixture diameter & length for anterior implant. Finally, a clinical implant prosthesis case in maxillary central incisor will be shown. In conclusion, for superior esthetic outcome in anterior implant prostheses, we must understand the patient's anatomic condition and know our ability.

전치부 임플란트의 심미성에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요소는 다음과 같다. 1) 임플란트 식립체의 올바른 위치, 2) 치조골의 충분한 양, 3) 연조직의 최적의 양. 임플란트 위치는 심미적인 치료결과를 얻는 데에 가장 중요한 요소일 것이다. 임플란트의 3차원적 위치는 치조제의 위치와 방향에 의해 결정된다. 임상가들은 수복물을 제작할 때 흔히 자연치를 모방하려 한다. 그러나 심미적인 진단 및 치료를 하는 과정에서 잊지 말아야 할 것은 얼굴형태, 입술, 치은, 치조제, 그리고 잔존치아들과의 상관관계를 고려하는 것이다. 전치부는 구치부에 비해 생물학적으로 불리하며, 조금이라도 임플란트 위치가 틀어지면 심미적으로 좋지 않은 결과를 야기할 수 있다. 임플란트 3치원적 위치의 생물학적, 보철적 의미를 이해한다면, 전치부에 더욱 심미적인 결과를 얻을 수 있을 것이다.

Usually, orthodontic treatment has been difficult or confused. But orthodontic treatment for prosthodontic/periodontic therapy is usually simple and have a lot of advantages to dental clinicians. Biological occlusion concept is very important in dental treatment of clinician. The following clinical case shows the combination of orthodontic occlusion in the upper arch and normal in the lower.

This article describes esthetic improvement in a patient with a missing maxillary left central incisor. Space analysis of the anterior dentition showed that minor tooth rearrangement was needed. Optimal space distribution for restorations was attained by orthodontic treatment. Through transforming tooth shape with porcelain laminate veneers, the maxillary left lateral incisor was transformed into central incisor and the maxillary left canine into a lateral incisor. The maxillary right central incisor was also restored for esthetic improvement. In a case of changing a tooth shape with porcelain laminate veneers, pre-treatment evaluation, space analysis and diagnostic wax-up are important factors.

Purpose: This study was conducted in order to describe the process of appearance management with esthetic treatment and for development of a substantive theory that explains lifestyle in female college students. Methods: The participants were seven students who had undergone a surgical procedure with LASEK, cosmetic, and wearing orthodontic brackets. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews and analyzed using grounded theory in Strauss and Corbin (1998). Results: The core category, 'discovering factors of social opportunities' incorporated the relationship between and among all categories and explained the process. Theses processes were categorized acording to four stages: 'facing appearance stress', 'screening medical information', 'applying esthetic treatment', and 'restoring self-confidence'. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate an understanding and profound insight on the issue of psycho-social health promotion in young female.

The critical factors affecting the esthetics of anterior implants can be summarized as following: 1) Correct positioning of implant fixture 2) Enough amount of alveolar bone 3) Optimum volume of soft tissue. The position of implant is probably the most important factor in obtaining esthetic treatment outcome. The 3-dimensional orientation of implant is determined by the position on the alveolar ridge and its direction. Clinicians often try to mimic natural teeth when fabricating restorations. During the course of esthetic diagnosis and treatment, however, one should not forget to consider the correlation between facial pattern, lips, gingiva, alveolar ridge, as well as remaining dentition. Since anterior region is biologically unfavorable when compared with posterior region, one minor discrepancy in positioning of implant can cause esthetically undesirable treatment outcome. If one understands the biological and prosthetic meaning of implant's 3-dimensional position, he or she can achieve superior esthetic outcome in anterior region.

임플란트 술식을 이용하여 소실된 구강조직을 수복하는 방법은 보철적 수복 술식중 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 구강수복의 목적은 손상된 구강조직의 기능성, 심미, 발음 등을 회복하는 데 있다. 최근 환자, 치과의사, 기공사들의 심미성에 대한 요구가 증가하는 추세이므로 임플란트 보철수복의 자연미에 대한 관심 또한 고조되고 있다. 최종 보철물의 심미적인 결과에는 형태, 색조, 비율, 잇몸의 형태 등등의 많은 요소가 관여한다. 자연감과 생동감이 있는 인공보철물을 환자에게 제공해 주기 위하여 주의 깊은 진단 및 치료계획과 이를 뒷받침하는 기공사의 역할이 필수적이다. 자연감 있게 보이는 임플란트 보철물을 제공하기 위하여 재료, 잇몸의 재현, 형태 및 발음, 보철물의 design 등에 관하여 screw type, cement type, 그리고 overdentuure 등의 몇 가지 증례를 통하여 살펴보고자 한다.

심미에 대한 환자의 기대와 요구는 다양하고 복잡하다. 때로는 원하는 것이 명확하지 못할 때고 있고 다다르기에는 한계가 있는 경우도 자주 만나게 된다. 환자의 주소를 객관적인 요소로 분석해야하는 진료자의 입장에서는 환자의 표현을 요구와 필요(wants and needs)에 기반하여 해석해야하는 숙제를 않고 가게 된다. 환자의 요구와 필요를 기반으로 하여 치료의 계획에 있어서 심미적 개선 방향을 설정하고 이를 피드백을 통해 검증하여 소통하는 것이 필요하다. 심미(esthetics)란 객관적인 기준을 기반으로 하지만 일상의 임상에 있어서 환자 개개인의 주관적인 기준을 잘 반영하여야 만족스런 결과로 한발자국 다가서는 슬기로운 접근이라 하겠다. 건강한 자연치를 기준으로하면 한계성을 가지고 있는 중년 환자의 증례를 통해 심미적 분석(analysis)과 접근 전략(strategies)에 대해 함께 살펴보고자 한다.

전치부 심미에 대한 관심과 접근은 환자의 필요와 요구에 의해 시작되어 다양한 재료와 술식을 통해 발전해 왔다. Esthetic dentistry의 선구자라 불리우는 Charles Pincus의 1967년 글에서 잘 묘사되어 있듯이 심미치료의 시작와 끝은 환자에 의해 결정되어진다는 전제 조건은 진단과 치료계획단계에서 늘 우선 되어지는 부분이기도 한다. 술자의 입장인 치과의사들은 이러한 환자의 필요와 요구를 만족시키기 위해 여러 가지 메뉴를 환자에게 제시하게 된다. Pincus의 글에서 Cosmetic Grinding라고 표현되어졌던 가장 보존적인 접근은 minimal invasion이라는 시각에서 접근하면 매우 효과적인 심미 향상의 한 술식이라 할 수 있다. 몇몇 개의 임상 증례를 통해 cosmetic grinding의 심미 개선의 치료 술식으로서의 가치와 한계에 대해 재조명해보고자 한다.
