  • Through fuzzy logic controller is very useful to many areas, it is difficult to build up the rule-base by experience and trial-error. So, effective self-tuning fuzzy controller for the position control of ball and beam is designed. In this paper, we developed the neural network control system with fuzzy-neuron which conducts the adjustment process for the parameters to satisfy have nonlinear property of the ball and beam system. The proposed algorithm is based on a fuzzy logic control system using a neural network learinign algorithm which is a back-propagation algorithm. This system learn membership functions with input variables. The purpose of the design is to control the position of the ball along the track by manipulating the angualr position of the serve. As a result, it is concluded that the neural network control system with fuzzy-neuron is more effective than the conventional fuzzy system.

  • In this paper, we propose the position- and size-independent handwritten on-line Korean character recognition system using multilayer neural networks which are trained with error back-propagation learning algorithm and the features of Hanguel consonants and vowels. Starting point, end point, and three vectors from starting point to end point of each stroke of characters inputted from mouse or tablet are applied as inputs of neural networks. If double consonants and vowels are separated by single consonants and vowels, all consonants and vowels have at most four strokes. Therefore, four neural networks learn the consonants and the vowels having each number of strokes. Also, we propose the algorithm of separating the consonants and vowels and constructing a character.

  • This paper describes the design of a neurochip with on-chip learning capability in hardware with multiple processing elements. A digital architecture is adopted because its flexiblity and accuracy is advantageous for simulating the various application systems. The proposed chip consists of several processing elements to fit the large computation of neural networks, and has on-chip learning capability based on error back-propagation algorithm. It also minimizes the number of blobal control signals for processing elements. The modularity of the system makes it possible to buil various kinds of boards to match the expected range of applications.

  • In this paper, we proposed effective modeling method to nonlinear complex system. Fuzzy Neural Network(FNN) was used as basic model. FNN was fused of Fuzzy Inference which has linguistic property and Neural Network which has learning ability and high tolerence level. This paper, we used FNN which was proposed by Yamakawa. The FNN used Simple Inference as fuzzy inference method and Error Back Propagation Algorithm as learning rule. This structure has better property than other structure at learning speed and convergence ability. But it has difficulty at definition of membership function. We used Hard c-Mean method to overcome this difficulty. To evaluate proposed method. We applied the proposed method to waste water treatment process. We obtained better performance than conventional model.

  • In this paper, We proposed a parallel structure of the Neural Network model to nonlinear complex system. Neural Network was used as basic model which has learning ability and high tolerence level. This paper, we used Neural Network which has BP(Error Back Propagation Algorithm) model. But it sometimes has difficulty to append characteristic of input data to nonlinear system. So that, I used HCM(hard c-Means) method of clustering technique to append property of input data. Clustering Algorithms are used extensively not only to organized categorize data, but are also useful for data compression and model construction. Gas furance, a sewage treatment process are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model and then obtained higher accuracy than other previous medels.

  • This paper describes an optimal synthesis method of binary neural network for pattern recognition. Our objective is to minimize the number of connections and the number of neurons in hidden layer by using a Newly Expanded and Truncated Learning Algorithm (NETLA) for the multilayered neural networks. The synthesis method in NETLA uses the Expanded Sum of Product (ESP) of the boolean expressions and is based on the multilayer perceptron. It has an ability to optimize a given binary neural network in the binary space without any iterative learning as the conventional Error Back Propagation (EBP) algorithm. Furthermore, NETLA can reduce the number of the required neurons in hidden layer and the number of connections. Therefore, this learning algorithm can speed up training for the pattern recognition problems. The superiority of NETLA to other learning algorithms is demonstrated by an practical application to the approximation problem of a circular region.

  • A study for the recognition of the Korean characters by a neural network is presented. To reduce the dimension of the input image data, DC components are extracted from each input image and used as input to the neural net. A multi-layer perceptron with one hidden layer was trained with back-error propagation training algorithm. Its performance is tested for 24 ${\times}$ 24 binary images of Korean characters and the results of several experiments are presented.

  • A Study for Bad Data Processing in state estimation by a Neural Network is presented. State estimation is the process of assigning a value to an unknown system state variable based on measurement from that system according to some criteria. In this case, the ability to detect and identify bad measurements is extremely valuable, and much time in oder to achieve the state estimation is needed. This paper proposed new bad data processing using Neural Network in order to settle it. The concept of neural net is a parallel distributed processing. In this paper, EBP (Error Back Propagation) algorithm based on three layered feed forward network is used.

  • This paper deals with a design of neural network control architectures for robot motion. Three types of control architectures are designed as follows : 1) a neural network control architecture which has the same characteristics as computed torque method 2) a neural network control architecture for compensating the control error on computed torque method with fixed feedback gain 3) neural network adaptive control architecture. Computer simulation of PUMA manipulator with 6 links is conducted for robot motion in order to examine the proposed neural network control architectures.

  • In this paper, the Multi-FNNs(Fuzzy-Neural Networks) architecture is identified and optimized using HCM(Hard C-Means) clustering method and genetic algorithms. The proposed Multi-FNNs architecture uses simplified inference and linear inference as fuzzy inference method and error back propagation algorithm as learning rules. Here, HCM clustering method, which is carried out for the process data preprocessing of system modeling, is utilized to determine the structure of Multi-FNNs according to the divisions of input-output space using I/O process data. Also, the parameters of Multi-FNNs model such as apexes of membership function, learning rates and momentum coefficients are adjusted using genetic algorithms. An aggregate performance index with a weighting factor is used to achieve a sound balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model we use the time series data for gas furnace and the NOx emission process data of gas turbine power plant.
