MMIS System of KNGR is composed of systems by using of digital equipment in general, and also interface function among systems is completed by a network. According to this, KNGR PCS also got rid of many kinds of interface cards which have been used for hardwired interface to outside system, and most of function in these cards is to be programmed by PLC. This paper defines the function and method which is to be programmed to PLC. And this paper presents new function which is to be added for operator's interface by using network. It is expected that PCS logic cabinet will be more simplified, satisfy KNGR design concept, and operation convenience will be increased.
Determination of the interface heat transfer coefficient was investigated in non-isothermal bulk forming of glass-coated Ti-6Al-4V. FE analysis and experiments were conducted. Equipment consisting of AISI Hl3 die was instrumented with thermocouples located at sub-surface of the bottom die. Die temperature changes were investigated in related to the process variables such as reduction, lubricant and initial die temperature. The calibration approach based on heat conduction and FE analysis using an inverse algorithm were used to evaluate the interface heat transfer between graphite-lubricated die and glass-coated workpiece. The coefficients determined were affected mainly by the contact pressure. The validation of the coefficients was made by the comparison between experimental data and FE analysis results.

Nowadays, as IT industry is being developed, many studies are in progress in the areas of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) and interest in the icons related to these areas are rising accordingly. IT developments have also influenced the vessel sector promoting the development of navigation equipment and systems utilizing IT. However, due to complicated functions of navigation equipment and systems, concerns have been noted about the increased cognitive burden on officers, along with the need for researches on reducing such burden. This study, therefore, was conducted focusing on the design of icons that will reduce cognitive burden on officers when using a typical navigation equipment such as ECDIS(Electric Chart Display and Information System). Based on a survey conducted with experts who have rich experiences in navigation and are currently teaching ECDIS in universities, the present study identified the functions of ECDIS, for which icons should be designed. Accordingly, suitable icons for ECDIS were designed and their effects were evaluated. It is expected that the results of this study will be used as basic data for the design of icons for other navigation equipment in the future.
In the reality that the fishing population is decreasing and the single-man fishing vessels is increasing, mandatory equipment for navigation and radio equipments for the safety of fishing boats has continued to be added. Therefore, many equipment such as navigation, communication and fishing are installed in the narrow steering room, so it is very confusing and a number of monitors are placed in the front, which is a factor that degrades the function of maritime observation. To solve this problem, we studied an interface that integrates and operates to major radio facilities such as very high frequency-digital selective calling equipment (VHF-DSC), automatic identification system (AIS) and fishing boat location transmission device (V-pass) into one multi function display (MFD) based on LAN. In addition, IEC61162-450 UDP packets and IEC61162 sentence were applied to exchange data through link between MFD and radio equipments, and additional messages needed for each equipment and function were defined. The integrated MFD monitor is easily operated by the menu method, and the performance of the interface was evaluated by checking the distress and emergency communication functions related to maritime safety and the message transmission status by equipment.
A reactor protection system (RPS) plays the roles of generating the reactor trip signal and the engineered safety features (ESF) actuation signal when the monitored plant processes reach predefined limits. A Korean project group is developing a new digitalized RPS and the Cabinet Operator Module (COM) of the RPS which is used for the RPS integrity testing and monitoring by an equipment operator. A flat panel display (FPD) with a touch screen capability is provided as a main user interface for the RPS operation. To support the RPS COM user interface design, actually the FPD screen design, we developed a user interface style guide because the system designer could not properly deal with the many general human factors design guidelines. To develop the user interface style guide, various design guideline gatherings, a walk-though with a video recorder, guideline selection with respect to user interface design elements, determination of the properties of the design elements, discussion with the system designers, and a conversion of the properties into a screen design were carried out. This paper describes the process in detail and the findings in the course of the style guide development.

This paper deals with a case study on a unique slope failure in a liner system of a municipal solid waste containment facility during construction because the sliding interface is not the geomembrane/compacted low permeability soil liner (LPSL) but a soil/soil interface within the LPSL. From the case study, it is concluded that compaction of the LPSL should ensure that each lift is kneaded into the lower lift so a weak interface is not created in the LPSL, and the LPSL moisture content should be controlled so it does not exceed the specified value, .e.g., 3% - 4% wet of optimum, because it can lead to a weak interface in the LPSL. In addition, drainage materials should be placed over the geomembrane from the slope toe to the top to reduce the shear stresses applied to the weakest interface, and equipment should not move laterally across the slope if it is unsupported but along the slope while placing the cover soil from bottom to top.

There has been much recent research interest in developing numerous kinds of human-machine interface. This field currently requires more accurate and reliable sensing systems to detect the intended human motion. Most conventional human-machine interface use electromyography (EMG) sensors to detect the intended motion. However, EMG sensors have a number of disadvantages and, as a consequence, the human-machine interface is difficult to use. This study describes a muscle volume sensor (MVS) that has been developed to measure variation in the outline of a muscle, for use as a human-machine interface. We developed an algorithm to calibrate the system, and the feasibility of using MVS for detecting muscular activity was demonstrated experimentally. We evaluated the performance of the MVS via isotonic contraction using the KIN-COM$^{(R)}$ equipment at torques of 5, 10, and 15 Nm.

The IISS(Integrated Interface Storage System) software performs the function of transmitting tactical domain messages of Combat Management System for interface analysis of Naval Combat System. The source code is relatively large because the IISS software handles most messages. The modifications of source code of the IISS software occur frequently due to changes in interconnected equipment and messages. Therefore, additional effort and cost are required during the development process. In this paper, we studied standardization of the IISS software to improve reusability. Through the feature model, the components of the IISS software were divided by function and modification elements were separated. And the structure of the IISS software was improved by applying design patterns. As a result, it was possible to minimize modifications of the IISS software by changes in interconnected equipment and messages and a reduction in development costs could be expected.
