  • In this paper, the equilibrium flight conditions of a Korean Traditional Bangpae Kite with low aspect ratio were analyzed by it's aerodynamic data of wind tunnel test. The data of aerodynamic forces and center of pressure of the Kite were used to calculate the relative length of bridles to satisfy the condition of settling the kite to the static equilibrium steady state between ${\theta}=30^{\circ}{\sim}60^{\circ}$. From this equilibrium flight performance analysis, we obtained ($0.88{\pm}0.02$)c of the rear bridle length corresponding to 0.88c of fixed front bridle length. These results were exact agreement with the relative bridle lengths by Korean classical method.

  • This thesis is an experimental and numerical research on bearing capacity acting retaining walls close to rigid slopes with stiff angles. Experiments were performed with changing the roughness of adjacent slope to the wall, its inclination, distance between wall and slope. Vertical stress and applied surcharge loads were measured by miniature earth cells and a load cel respectively. Stress distribution Vertical Settlement of surcharge load of rigid model footing were measured by LVDTs. Bearing capacities of surcharge loads were compared with theoretical estimations by using several different methods of limit equilibrium and numerical analysis. For limit equilibrium methods, the modified silo and the wedge theories, proposed by Chung sung gyo and Chung in gyo (1994) were used to analyze test results Based on those modified theories, the particular solution with the boundary condition of surcharge loads on the surface of backfill was obtained to find the stress distributions acting in the backfill and to compare with test results. From results of surcharge test with model wall being very close to the slope, analyzed results by the modified silo theory and to be in the better agreements than other methods.

  • This study aims to increase students' understanding of equilibrium, one of the many concepts in chemistry that students find difficult. Dynamic equilibrium must be dealt with at the sub-microscopic level where the real and the representation overlap in order to microscopically understand the constant motion and interaction of particles and to understand the macroscopic characteristics expressed through this. However, as a result of analyzing 9 Chemistry I textbooks, the expression approach for equilibrium had some limitations. As a strategy to understand equilibrium at a sub-microscopic approach, the classes using scratch were consisted of a total of 4 hours, and it was implemented with 56 students. The classes were composed of 6 steps, and it was designed to understand equilibrium step by step. As a result of comparing the pretest and post- test, the number of students who got both the microscopic and macroscopic explanations of chemical equilibrium correct increased largely. Through this, it was possible to get a glimpse of the applicability of classes using scratch as the approach strategy of the sub-microscopic representation.

  • Kullback-Leibler (KL) information is a measure of discrepancy between two probability density functions. However, several nonparametric density function estimators have been considered in estimating KL information because KL information is not well-defined on the empirical distribution function. In this paper, we consider the KL information of the equilibrium distribution function, which is well defined on the empirical distribution function (EDF), and propose an EDF-based goodness of fit test statistic. We evaluate the performance of the proposed test statistic for an exponential distribution with Monte Carlo simulation. We also extend the discussion to the censored case.

  • Permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) technology can be applied to contaminated groundwater remediation. It is necessary to select adequate reactive material according to contaminant characterization. In groundwater. In this research, the reaction between reactive material and heavy metal contaminants was estimated through batch test. Reactive material was slag, which has been produced in Gwangyang power plant, and heavy metal contaminants were cadmium, lead and copper. Batch test consisted of two testes: 1) sorption equilibrium test and 2) sorption kinetic test. Sorption equilibrium test was performed for estimating slag sorption capacity against contaminants. And sorption kinetic test was performed for slag sorption rate with contaminants species, contaminants initial concentration and sulfate. Sorption capacity and sorption rate were affected by contaminant species. Sorption rate increased with increasing initial concentration in lead and copper but decreased with increasing initial concentration in cadmium. Sorption rate increased in existing sulfate. In low concentration, film diffusion was domain mechanism, and in high concentration, particle diffusion was domain mechanism.

  • Development and verification of whole vibration test system was requested for developing a geostationary satellite. This satellite is enlarged significantly compared with fore-satellite in KARI. For vertical vibration test, new vertical vibration system was developed. For lateral vibration test, thermal equilibrium test was performed because of difference of thermal characteristics between test adapter and slip table. And lateral vibration system performance for overturning moment was verified by analysis and test. As the number of acquisition channels was increased, new shaker control and data acquisition system was installed. In this paper, verification process and techniques to improve test stability are introduced for the whole vibration test system.

  • In this paper, we developed a fuzzy identification system to evaluate sensation of equilibrium objectively and quantitatively. By using caloric test. we estimated ECG(electro-cardiogram) and EOG(electro-oculogram), which were biomedical signals related to sensation of equilibrium, and used them as inputs of fuzzy identification system input. Fuzzy identification system analyzed the relationality between biomedical signals and sensation of equilibrium automatically, and evaluated it taking the co-relation between these signals into consideration.

  • In this paper the upwind flux difference splitting Navier-Stokes method has been applied to study the perfect gas and the equilibrium chemically reacting hypersonic flow over an axisymmetric sphere-cone(5°) geometry. The effective gamma(γ), enthalpy to internal energy ratio was used to couple chemistry with the fluid mechanics for equilibrium chemically reacting air. The test case condition was at altitude(30km) and Mach number(15). The equilibrium shock thickness over the blunt body region was much thinner than that of perfect gas shock. The pressure difference between perfect gas and equilibrium gas was about 3 ∼ 5 percent. The heat transfer coefficient were also calculated. The results were compared with VSL results in order to validate the current numerical analysis. The results from current method were compared well VSL results ; however, not well at near nose. The proper boundary condition and grid system will be studied to improve the solution quality.

  • This work applies the equilibrium molecular dynamics simulation method to study a Lennard-Jones liquid thin film suspended in the vapor and calculates diffusion coefficients by Green-Kubo equation derived from Einstein relationship. As a preliminary test, the diffusion coefficients of the pure argon fluid are calculated by equilibrium molecular dynamics simulation. It is found that the diffusion coefficients increase with decreasing the density and increasing the temperature. When both argon liquid and vapor phases are present, the effects of the system temperature on the diffusion coefficient are investigated. It can be seen that the diffusion coefficient significantly increases with the temperature of the system.
