키토산 비드에 의한 중금속 이온의 고정층 흡착에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fixed-bed Adsorption of Heavy Metal Ions over Chitosan Bead)

  • 폐수중 중금속 이온을 제거하기 위한 방법으로 키토산 비드에 의한 금속 이온의 고정층 흡착 특성을 조사하였다. 게껍질로부터 키틴을 추출하고 이를 탈아세틸화 반응시켜 키토산을 제조하였다. 키토산은 비드로 만들어 중금속 흡착제로 사용하였다. 키토산 비드에 대한 $Cu^{2+}$, $Co^{2+}$, $Ni^{2+}$ 이온의 단성분 평형 흡착 실험 결과로부터 Freundlich와 Langmuir 흡착등온식을 결정하였다. 흡착등온식에 의하면 키토산 비드에 대한 중금속 이온의 흡착 세기는 $Cu^{2+}$>$Co^{2+}$>$Ni^{2+}$의 순서로 나타났다. 키토산 비드에 대한 중금속 이온의 단성분 또는 다성분계 고정층 흡착 실험으로부터 흡착 파과곡선을 구하였다. 단성분 흡착등온식으로 다성분 흡착 평형을 예측할 수 있는 IAS (ideal adsorbed solution) 이론을 적용하여 LDFA (linear driving force approximation)에 의한 고정층 흡착 모델식을 수치해 기법으로 모사하여 실험결과와 비교하였다. LDFA에 의한 모델식을 적용한 결과 키토산 비드에 대한 중금속 이온의 단성분 및 다성분계 고정층 흡착거동을 잘 모사할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 도금폐수 중 니켈이온의 분리 회수를 위한 혼성 이온교환체의 제조 및 흡착 특성을 확인하였다. 니켈 흡착량은 이온교환체의 혼합비에 큰 영향이 없었으며, 비드상 이온교환수지 양이 증가할수록 증가하였다. 또한 Langmuir와 Freundlich흡착 등온식이 직선성을 보였으며 이로부터 니켈의 이온교환 친화력이 큰 것을 확인하였다. 또한 충전방식에 따른 압력손실은 다단충전법에서 적층수가 많아질수록 작아졌고, 혼합충전법에서는 비드 이온교환수지의 양이 증가할수록 압력손실은 감소하였다. 한편, 연속식 흡착실험 결과 다단충전방식의 경우 적층수가 증가할수록 초기 파괴 시간은 짧아졌으며, 최종 파괴 시간은 거의 동일한 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 혼합충전방식의 경우 이온교환섬유의 양이 증가할수록 흡착파괴 시간이 짧았으며, 이때 최대 흡착량은 각각 2.51 meq/g과 2.69 meq/g이었다. 한편, 모든 이온 교환체의 흡착된 니켈이온의 탈착은 10분 이내에 98% 이상 탈착되었다.

하상보호용 매트리스의 수리학적 특성 연구 (A Study on the Hydraulic Characteristics for River Bed Revetments using Mattress)

  • 하상보호용 사석은 초기 거동조건의 범위를 넘어 한계조건에 도달하면 흐름에 의해서 각각의 자갈 또는 석재가 분리되면서 점진적으로 파괴된다. 이와 반대로 하상보호용 매트리스의 경우는 비록 초기 거동조건의 범위를 넘어 한계조건에 도달할지라도 매트리스 철망에 의해 각각의 자갈 또는 석재의 분리가 억제가 됨을 알 수 있었다. 비록 변형된 하상보호용 매트리스일지라도 새로운 형태의 평형을 얻을 수 있으며, 더 이상의 변형과 나쁜 조건에서도 저항할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 동일한 수리학적 거동조건에서 하상보효용 매트리스의 채움재로 사용된 자갈 또는 석재의 평균 크기가 하상보호용 사석의 1/2정도이며, 하상보호용 매트릭스에서 Shield 계수는 하상보호용 사석의 약 2배임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 동일한 크기의 자갈 또는 석재가 채움재로 사용될 때 허용유속에 대해서 하상보호용 매트리스의 경우 하상보호용 사석보다 2배이상 심지어 3∼4까지 견딜 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

독성폐기물로 오염된 산업촉매 재생공정에 초임계유체기술의 적용 (Superitical fluid (SCF) technology application to the regeneration of industrial catalyst contaminated with toxic materials)

  • Supercritical fluid technology was applied to the regeneration of industrial catalyst contaminated with toxic materials. The regeneration process of activated loaded with phenol was proposed, then the adsorphon tower was packed with the activated carbon-bed. Phenol diffuses into supercritical carbon dioxide(SCC) through the micro-pore and voldge of the activated carbon. The saturated solubility of phenol in SCC depended on the density of SCC varing with temperature and pressure conditions. Therefore, the fasile phase equilibrium calculation model of dxpanded liquid One was proposed, and equilibrium solubility of phenol in SCC was calculated using the model theoretically. The regeneration mechanism of activated carbon was analysed by degree of saturation of phenol and diffusion in SCC. The solubility prediction was more satisfactory for the wide range of SCC density than the dense gas model and the desorption of phenol depended on the degree of saturation of phenol in SCC.

토양상에 의한 Trichloroethyene처리에 관한 연구 (A Study on Control of Trichloroethyene by Soil bed)

  • The purpose of this research is evaluation of adsorption capacity of the cast for TCE comparing with the yellow clay. Furthermore, the experimental data was fitted with the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm and was found to be apllicable to the adsorption isotherm equation. The soil bed reactor used in this study was made of glass(10 cm in diameter, 100 cm in depth). The cast and yellow clay used as adsorbents were screened with 8-20 mesh mecanically. Results from Equilibrium test with adsorbents showed that the equibrium time of the cast and yellow clay was 9min independent of the amount of the adsorbents. The adsorption efficiencys of the cast and yellow clay for TCE was 66.3% and 56.2%, respectively. In the application of Freundlich isotherm, 1/n of the cast and yellow clay were 0.786 and 0.704, respectively. These results showed that the cast was more available than the yellow clay as TCE adsorbent. The best adsorption capacity was showed at 0% moisture content, 70 ppm inlet concentration and 25$^{\circ}$C temperature.

Tidal Flushing at Entrance of Tidal Bay in Korea

  • Tidal Flushing at the entrance channels of tidal bay or estuary in the central western coast of Korea; Gum River Estuary, Garorim Bay, Asan Bay, and Yeomha Estuary were studied with the recent data of current surveys measured by curret meter at three or five anchored stations along the section for one or two tidal periods at mean spring tide. Equilibrium relationship between tidal prism at mean spring tide and minimum flow area below the mean sea level of the channel in alluvial material was found as of O'Brien's (1931, 1969) study. Bed load transport in the tidal channel is balanced with the tidal flushing ability having a mean velocity of about 0.75m/sec or maximum velocity of about 1.25m/sec for a half tidal cycle over the section at mean spring tide which fairly agree with Brunn's study(1955, 1957). flushing actions for different hydraulic depth( mean depth) and bed material size in the channel were reviewed and found that it depend to a minor extent on the factors.

Radial Thickness of Ice Jam in Channel Bends

  • The characteristics of radial thickness of ice jam at the center part of channel bends were analyzed briefly in this paper. Jam thickness in channel bends increases both toward the inner bank, and dowmstream. For this study, slope at the jam's underside was assumed to be liner with similarity of radial slope of bed in alluvial bends. Radial slope at the jam's underside in floating ice elements was estimated using the force equilibrium theory in the radial direction. The eqution which can be estimated the radial slope of ice jam was suggested using Falcon and Kennedy's bed layer theory. Experimental data, which were measured at the center part of cross-section in a single 180-degree bend, were compared to the calculated values using the suggested equtions. The result shows that the calcultated values were smaller than the measured ones. Ot is considered that the estimated value of shear stress in the radial direction may be smaller than the actual and two-layer model may be not suibable for alluvial bend flow.

활성탄에 의한 Tartrazine의 흡착 특성 (Adsorption Charateristics of Tartrazine by Activated Carbon)

  • The adsorption characteristics of tartrazine by granular activated carbon were experimentaly investigated in the batch adsorber and the packed column. The adsorptivity of activated carbon for tartrazine was largely improved by pH control, and 98 percent of initial concentration could be removed at pH 3. It was estabilished that the adsorption equilibrium of tartrazine on granular activated carbon was sucessfully fitted by Freundlich isotherm equation in the concentration range from 50 mg/L to 1,000 mg/L. The characteristics of breakthrough curve of activated carbon packed column, which depend on the design variables such as initial concentration, bed height, and flow rate, were studied.

지도축척의 영향에 따른 하천형태학적 특성연구 (A study on stream morphological characteristics according to effect of Map Scale)

  • The stream morphological characteristics of watershed have important influence upon the analysis of runoff. In this study, the effect of the map scale on the stream morphological characteristics was used on the data taken from 15'(1:50, 000) and 7'30"(1 :25,000) topographic maps which could cover the whole Miho River basin This basin are the first tributary of the Geum. River. Otherwise, the longitudinal stream bed profile was calculated by Yang's theoretical stream bed profile, equilibrium profile and actual profile. In the result of this investigation the conclusion is that the resultant relationship obtained from different topographic maps in the scale on the same stream system has come upon the same result as the stream morphological characteristics. Therefore, the great amount of time and effort can be saved in studing the stream morphological charecteristics by using the 15' instead of the 7'30"map system excluding the first order streams.

Prediction of the Dynamic Adsorption Behaviors of Uranium and Cobalt in a Fixed Bed by Surface Modified Activated Carbon

  • In order to predict the dynamic behaviors of uranium and cobalt in a fixed bed at various influent pH values of liquid waste, the adsorption system was regarded as multi-component adsorption between each ionic species in a solution. Langmuir isotherm parameters of each species were extracted by incorporating equilibrium data with the solution chemistry of uranium and cobalt using IAST. Prediction results were in good agreement with the experimental data, except for a high concentration and pH. Although there was some limitations in predicting the cobalt adsorption, this method may be useful in analyzing a complex adsorption system where various kinds of ionic species exist in a solution.
