개화기 ‘남녀동등’담론에 나타난 여성에 대한 계몽의 시각 (Points of Views on Women in Enlightenment Discourse of the Equality of Sexes during the Enlightenment Period of Korea)

  • This paper serves to analyze the points of views un women in enlightenment discourse of the equality of sexes during the enlightenment period of Korea (1860 1910). The discourses of newspapers that are the text of this study have been analyzed with qualitative research technique. The major conclusions that are derived from the study are as follows. First, enlightenment discourse of the equality of sexes criticized women’s inferior status in family and in society. Second, the discourse, however, claimed the women's rights with the view of national interests, which meant that the ultimate goal of the discourse was not the enhancement of women's rights. Women during the enlightenment period were recognized as a member of a nation while they should also role as a member of If. The discourse also claimed that the equality of sexes could be realized through education and emphasized especially women's role as a mother who should raise a member of a nation. Third, enlightenment discourse would not understand the women's every day lives that resulted in demanding women more roles in the name of civilization.

대학생의 양성평등 의식, 자아존중감이 데이트 폭력 인식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Equality of Both sexes and Self-esteem on Perception of Dating violence among University students)

  • 본 연구는 대학생의 양성평등 의식과 자아존중감이 데이트 폭력 인식에 미치는 영향을 연구하여 대학생의 데이트 폭력 인식을 높이는 것에 기여할 수 있는 교육프로그램을 위한 자료와 데이트 폭력 예방 및 데이트 폭력에 대한 피해를 최소화 할 수 있는 방안을 찾기 위한 자료를 제공하고자 실시하였다. 본 연구의 대상자는 충청지역 대학생을 대상으로 편의표집한 200명으로, 조사기간은 2018년 4월 28일부터 5월 12일까지였고, 배부된 225부 중 200부를 최종 분석하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0 통계프로그램을 이용하였다. 연구결과, 변수간의 상관관계를 보였고, 대학생의 데이트 폭력 의식을 설명하는 선형회귀모형은 통계적으로 유의하였다(F=9.41, p<.001). 회귀모형의 설명력을 나타내는 수정된 결정계수 R2(adj.R2)=.36(.32)으로 회귀모형은 대학생활 적응 총 변화량의 36%를 설명하고 있으며, 그중에서도 폭력유무가 가장 영향력이 컸다. 대학생의 건전한 이성교제 및 올바른 남녀 성역할 인식을 통한 건강한 대학생활적응을 위해 프로그램 개발 및 상담이 필요하다.

As Rumi Travels along the Silk Road in Feminist Costume: Shafak's The Forty Rules of Love

  • Transnational exchange has been an inseparable part of both the ancient and modern Silk Road. This paper shows how Rumi (1207-1273), a famous Persian Sufi poet, travels along the Silk Road in the $21^{st}$ century. With the birth of a Rumi phenomenon in the West, Silk Road artists have rediscovered and adapted him for different purposes. Elif Shafak, the Turkish-British novelist and women's rights activist, espouses feminist beliefs in her bestseller, The Forty Rules of Love (2010). Benefiting from the views of feminist theorists like Woolf, de Beauvoir and Friedan, this paper reveals how Shafak appropriates Rumi for her feminist purposes. Forty Rules of Love's protagonist, Ella Rubinstein is analyzed, compared and contrasted with her former literary counterparts Pinhan and Zeliha, heroines of Shafak's previous novels. By adapting Rumi's definition of equality, Shafak shows how egalitarianism must pervade the relationship between women and men. The adaptation of Rumi's ideas regarding the equality of sexes finds a different dimension when Shafak reveals that all humanity possesses femininity and masculinity at the same time. By means of ideas prevalent in the ancient Silk Road, the five classical elements theory, and the yin and yang principle, Shafak portrays unity within contradictions. It is concluded that although individuals might belong to different typologies of the five symbolic elements of nature, they can at the same time complement one another's inharmonious personalities peacefully. The process of integration of female and male sexes can be expedited by opening up one's heart to a universal love.

배우자선택과 성의식에 관한 연구(I) -일본 여자대학생을 대상으로- (A Study on Mate Selection and Sexual Consciousness(I) -Investigation for Unmarried Japanese Women College Students-)

  • This study aimed to clarify the attitude toward marriage, mate selection and sexual consciousness of japanese unmarried women students whom are believed in drastic change in a overall social value system and norm due to the introduction of western civilization, so as to provide some information of the same subject of our young women in similar situation. Survey was carried out for 177 unmarried Japanese women students of 3 Universities located in Osaka prefecture situation. Data were collected by means of Questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS BATCH SYSTEM. Result are as follows; 1) Pattern of mate selection- An increasing tendency of love match is recognized 2) Attitude to marriage-94.0% of correspondences want to marry and proper age of marriage, they think, is between 22-25 years. 3) Love-marriage relation- most correspondences answered that love is a prior condition for marriage, however, 32.8% of correspondences think, love can be built after the marriage. 4) Dating- most correspondences want free dating, however, they fell that they are lacking for opportunity and they are not confident in the selection of proper mate. 5) Premarital sexual intercourse-most correspondences show a very generous attitude toward premarital sexual intercourse if they are in love and this attitude becomes more remarkable among love match makers. 6) Equality of sexes-most correspondences answered that as women are different in physiological function from men, distinctive social roles of both sexes and the inequality of sexes are inevitable.

한국 전근대 여성의 주체적 삶의 양상 고찰 - 젠더 연구적 관점을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Subjective Lives of the Premodern Korean Women in the Viewpoint of Gender)

  • The ultimate goal of women's studies and feminist critics is to improve the understanding on women and recognize women's values. When we examine the Korean women's history on the viewpoint of gender, we can find that the gender role is not fixed. We do not have any proofs that there are any kinds of gaps between women and men in ability and temperament. All of women's identity and subjectivity in status and activities was not insignificant. Especially women's subjectivity in high social standing was superior. The women's activities in economic area were energetically. The productive activities were lively, too. The patrilineal decent is usual in Chana though China is in the same Confucianism cultural area. But patrilineal and matrilineal decent were popular used until the early days in Chosun Dynasty. Only sons can be inherited father's estate in China but it's not in our country. Also the patriarch had the economic power in family in China but the housewives had the power in ours. The feminism has been making efforts for the equality of sexes and the dismantling of the patriarchal sex role for a long time. Every feminist activities included feminist theory and cultural criticism has the goal to increase women's liberty and equality and change the world. This study to understand the historical substance of Korean women is on the way, too.

초등학교 저학년 교과서의 성교육 내용분석 (Analysis of Sexuality Content in Textbooks for Students in Lower Grades of Elementary School)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a sexuality education course of study for students in the lower grades of elementary school. Method: On the basis of the sexuality education guidebook for elementary school students published by Korea Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development, the state-designated textbooks for first to third grade were analyzed. Results: 1) In the category of physical and psychological development, physical development and psychosexual development content were covered, but not sexual health content. 2) In the category of understanding of human relationship, marriage and family, and the opposite sex and love were presented but self-determination and selection were only partially presented. 3) In the category of sexual culture and sexual ethics, sexual role in society was covered, but not social environment or equality of the sexes. Conclusion: These results suggest that content on sexuality which is not covered in textbooks for students in lower grades should be included in other school courses or activities in class.

현대 패션에 나타난 클래식 테일러드 수트의 미적 특성 (Aesthetic Characteristics of Women's Classic Tailored Suits in Modern Fashion)

  • The purpose of this study is to define women's classic tailored suits surviving, despite current millennial impulses tend toward disintegration in style. Through documentary study, the reason which women had chosen the mannish tailored suits instead of sumptuous dresses in the 20th century beginnings is considered carefully. Also, examining the process of transition of women's classic suits makes it possible to infer the aesthetic characteristics of them. According to study, women had began to wear tailored suits acquiring physical comfort and the equality of the sexes. In the early stage, women imitated men's tailored suits in order to show seriousness, intelligent, capability for social success. However, in accordance with the advance of women's social position women modified it to suits themselves to present intrinsic feminity as well as masculine values. By staying the basic form, classic tailored suits have undergone constant internal changes in relation to sexuality. The aesthetic properties of women's classic tailored suits can be inferred as moderation, dualism, and versatility. In conclusion, the credibility with own authority and the evolutionary character inhering in the classic tailored suits could explain the continuity of them.

저출산 정책의 효과성에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Effectiveness of Policies in Response to Low Fertility)

  • 본 연구는 그 동안 한국에서 시행되고 있는 저출산 관련 주요 정책의 효과성에 대한 분석을 시도하고자 한다. 이를 위해 저출산 관련 시책에 대한 인지도와 경험도를 검토하였으며, 이러한 인지도와 경험도가 자녀의 출산계획에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 현존 자녀수를 고려하지 않을 경우 경제적 지원 정책과 양성평등 문화조성에 대한 인지도는 출산계획의 가능성을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이러한 결과는 현존 자녀수별로 분석할 경우 다르게 나타난다. 즉 무자녀 기혼여성들의 경우 저출산 관련 대책들에 따른 자녀출산계획의 차이는 없는 것으로 나타난다. 1자녀 기혼여성의 저출산 관련 지원정책에 대한 인지도가 추가출산계획에 미치는 영향도 모두 통계적으로 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타난다. 2자녀 여성의 경우에도, 저출산 정책에 대한 인지도가 추가출산계획에 미치는 영향은 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 저출산 정책의 이용도의 경우에도 동일한 패턴으로 나타난다. 즉 현존 자녀수를 고려하지 않을 경우 경제적 지원, 일 가정 양립 지원, 양성평등 문화조성 등은 출산계획에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타난다, 그러나 현존 자녀수별로 분석을 진행할 경우 이러한 변수들의 통계적인 유의성은 사라져 저출산 정책의 이용경험은 모두 출산계획에 유의한 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 저출산 정책을 수리할 때 자녀수에 대한 고려가 필수적임을 보여주는 것이다. 이와 함께 저출산 관련 지원정책의 효과가 뚜렷하게 나타나기 위해서는 보다 실질적이고 체계적인 저출산 대책이 지속적으로 추진되어야 한다는 점을 반영한 것으로 보인다.

젠더 디자인의 기초개념과 전략적 접근에 관한 연구 (Fundamental Concept on Gender Design and Its Strategic Approach)

  • 'gender'는 사회적 의미의 성(性)이고 'sex'는 생물학적인 성(性)을 의미한다. 'gender'는 남녀 차별적인 'sex'보다 대등한 남녀간의 관계를 내포하며, 평등에 있어서도 모든 사회적인 동등함을 실현시켜야 한다는 뜻이 함축되어 있기 때문이다. 점점 더 많은 수의 여성이 과거의 남성 직업으로 진출해왔고, 직업 구조 자체가 바뀌어 가는 과정에서 여성의 일과 남성의 일의 구체적 목록은 변해 왔지만, 여전히 여성주의적 디자인 접근은 피상적인 답보상태에 머무르고 있고 수많은 가전제품의 도입과 개선이 이루어졌음에도 여성의 가사노동 부담은 상대적으로 개선된 점이 없다. 이미 과거의 남성들이 해왔던 일들은 대부분 기계화가 되었다. 현대적 가정기술은 여성이 가사노동의 조력자나 위임자 없이도 가정의 안락한 생활을 유지하는 것을 가능케 함으로써 여성의 사회활동에 기폭제가 된 것만은 틀림없다. 이에 따라 시대 변화 속에서 젠더 디자인의 개념 수립과 이에 따른 전략적 접근이 필요하다. 앞으로 우리의 삶과 상관되는 여성의 주체적 선택이 주어질 수 있는 디자인으로 바뀌기를 바라면서, 사회 속에서 여성의 노동과 그에 따른 가사활동의 문제를 제기하여 남성적 사고가 아닌 여성의 입장에서 디자인을 살펴보고자 했다.

  • This study was inquire into the state of the family ethics during the period of the beginning of 1880′s to the 3.1 independence movement of 1919 which has been the black period in the history of Korean family ethics. The research was conducted by analyzing the newspapers, magazines, related literature and articles of the period. It was the beginning of the 1860′s and by the "Cheondo-Kyo" (the Religion of the Heavenly) way that the issues regarding the equality of sexes as the central concern of the modem family ethics came to be the object of the social discourse for the first time in Korean history. The social discourse had come to be positively activated around 1900, when the intellectuals of the "Korean enlightenment" had begun to the feel necessity of the modernization of Korean socialite and the importance of the women education as the essential part of it. However, the activation of the social discourse itself, especially with the newspapers of that period did not mean the changes of the traditional Confucian family ethics, but the discourse of the modernizing forces had become the seeds for changing the family ethics of the Korean people. The made chauvinistic nature of the family ethics of the period was not so much different from those of the preceeding patriarch societies, but the state of the family ethics during the period are characterized by several social phenomenon such as the rising needs of using the "Hangle"(Korean alphabet) instead of Chinese character for the equal education of the both sexes, increasing practices of the early marriage, customs of trade marriage in accordance with the demand of excessive weeding presents, and regarding social consciousness of the traditional family ethics as patriotics attitude against the Christian rejection of the ancestor worship ritual.
