On the conflict factors in using community fishing ground and their solutions, some conclusions are derived with the survey for fishing villages, residents, tourists as follows: Jeju Island has beautiful sceneries with seas in all the directions and so remarkable potential as personal experience fishing village. For sustainable development of ecological tourism in each fishing village, systematic, long-term development plans and management systems through decision making with residents in fishing and non-fishing villages are demanded. For tourist development of fishing village, protection management systems for marine and swampy land are needed first of all. Next, economical profit and the participation of resident have first priority, and also individual standards for each village are urgently prepared based on the results of basic research on each village. Finally, educations on environment and fishing village with professional tourist guide are needed. Ecological protection, environmental education, resident participation, local government's concern, and financial support could solve residential conflicts and make Jeju Island a Mecca of local fishing village tourism.
This study aims to verify a difference between the years 2014 and 2019 of Uiryeong-Gil, which is operated by the Visitor-Reservation System, in terms of the cognition of system, operational effectiveness, and behavioral intention. The analysis is as follows. First, among the overall cognition of the Visitor-Reservation System, the satisfaction from - prevention for safety for accident, expansion to other parks, number of visitor restriction, and satisfaction with reservation method - increased compared to 2014. Second, among the effects of the Visitor-Reservation System operation, satisfaction shows differences in year-to-year levels in terms of resource protection, resource damage mitigation efficiency, natural experience opportunity, comfort of visit-environment, and prevention of illegal activities. Third, the analysis of the differences in the behavior of the Visitor-Reservation System showed that the satisfaction of visitors, revisit intention, and overall satisfaction differed per year. The results of this study are meaningful in that the Visitor-Reservation System is no longer the restriction, but the change in cognition for the protection of ecosystems and sustainable visiting in order to expand the Visitor-Reservation System into a sustainable policy.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The recent coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has brought to light issues regarding personal and environmental cleanliness. Individuals may have concerns about cleanliness at food service establishments when they consume food prepared at a restaurant. In Korea, a new restaurant hygienic certificate system was implemented in 2017. The effect of this new system has not been evaluated. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This study investigated consumers' perceptions of these new certificates using the protection motivation theory (PMT). An online survey was conducted to collect data and then exploratory factor analysis, analysis of variance, and multiple regression tests were run. RESULTS: The results of this study indicate that 3 different certificates had significant differences in threat (P < 0.001) and benefit (P < 0.001) perception. However, experience with a foodborne illness from a restaurant did not effect on the PMT variables. In addition, the 3-tier certificate did not motivate consumers to protect themselves against foodborne illnesses, while previous experiences of foodborne illness (P < 0.05), coping (P < 0.001), and benefits (P < 0.01) affected this protection motivation. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that consumers were not influenced by different certificate levels regarding their motivation to protect themselves from foodborne illnesses. Therefore, an improved plan should be initiated to clarify the meaning of these certificates. The results of this study can help the application and development of a new system for future adaptations.
This study investigated the awareness and consumption behavior of 118 vegetarians and omnivores toward plant-based dairy alternatives. The preference and choice attribute questionnaires were compared. Significant differences were obtained between the two groups when considering the purchase experience, preference, and selection attributes of plant-based dairy alternatives. Vegetarians had more experience purchasing plant-based dairy alternative products. In both groups, environmental and animal protection were the major factors that influenced the highest response rate for purchasing plant-based dairy alternatives. The preference score of vegetarians for plant-based dairy alternative products was high, indicating that vegetarianism had a significant effect on their preference for plant-based dairy alternative products. Analysis of selection attributes revealed that price, product weight, appearance, and manufacturer were considered important by vegetarians, whereas nutritional components and labeling, manufacturing environment, composition of ingredients, and taste and texture were considered more important by the omnivores. Results of this study can be used as basic data for the future development of the fast-growing industry producing plant-based dairy alternative products.
This project has been designed for people to experience and understand the process, importance and benefit of coal fire plants. As the biggest and first typical Korean fire plant using coal, Boryeong fire plant has had important roll for the Korean industries. Even so, people has had wrong prejudice for the fire plant in terms of environmental protection. To do these kind of rolls, this museum has been designed with theme, "Boryeong fire plant mating symbiotic relationship between nature, human and technologies." The space was zoned with five major themes: i. circulation of energy in nature, ii. electric power and eco-fire plant, iii. future energy, iv roll for future of environment, v. Korea as the leading energy industry. The design has been developed focused on spatial experiences to make 'Design Sequence' with linear circulations haying several important destinations. The interior has been finished with minimal color and materials projected by big sized movie and various LED movie system. Concept of appordance has been used to make interactive experiences between exhibits and visitors.
"Always-on" small ventilators are likely to experience thermal decomposition of insulating material due to thermal, electrical, mechanical and environmental influences, and lose insulating properties by the process of oxidation and physiochemical reaction. This increases the risk of electrical fire because of layer short, short circuit, overload and Plastics are usually used to make ventilator and ventilator enclosures since they make less noise and are cheaper. Although more preferred than iron, plastic, a combustible material, has a higher risk of fire. In this study, several experiments were carried out to find out how RCD(Residual Current Protective Device) and Thermal fuses, which are electric motor protection devices, work and what needs to be done to reduce the risk of fire.
Many countries are trying to develope the sustainable energy and environmental protection through a more concrete international cooperation. In this paper, the necessity and technical & economical feasibility on the interconnection of power systems in the South Korea, North Korea and North East Asia Region are emphasized with reference to the interconnection between the integrated power system according to the reunification of Germany and the Western European Power System. The Germany has a similar experience of separation and disconnection of their power system what happened in the Korean peninsula. Particularly the Power Economics And Clean Environment Network that could contribute to the PEACE promotion. Through the PEACE NETWORK PROJECT, the interconnection of power systems in North-Eastern Asia should be discussed in serious.
Protection of groundwater resources from contamination has been of increasing concern throughout the past decades. In practice, however, groundwater monitoring is performed based on the experience and intuition of experts or on the convenience. In dealing with groundwater contamination, we need to know what contaminants have the potential to threat the water quality and the distribution and concentration of the plumes. Monitoring of the subsurface environment through remote geophysical techniques or direct sampling from wells can provide such information. Once known, the plume can be properly menaged. Evaluation of existing methodologies for groundwater monitoring network design revealed that one should select an appropriate design method based on the purpose of the network and the avaliability of field information. Integer programming approach, one of the general purpose network design tools, and a cost-to-go function evaluation approach for special purpose network design were tested for field applicability. For the same contaminated aquifer, two approaches resulted in different well locations. The amount of information, however, was about the same.
Urban pollution has been a problem in China since ancient times. In modern times, pollution was aggravated by industrialization and urbanization and became closely related to people's lives. Shanghai was the industrial center and the most urbanized place of modern China. As a price, it needed to face extremely serious urban pollution, and the treatment of this problem involved all aspects of social life. Noise pollution let foreigners to interpret the Chinese people and the city of Shanghai from a cultural perspective, and let Chinese residents to understand Shanghai and the nation from a civilized perspective. Pollution regulation made Shanghai the first city in modern China to implement overall pollution control and levy environmental protection fees. It also enabled the Chinese to gradually fight for their rights in urban governance. Urban pollution also brought business opportunities; in the highly commercial city of Shanghai, it promoted the development of some industries. The experience of urban pollution and its treatment prompted the people of Shanghai to rethink and re-recognize modern civilization, and also promoted the formation of Shanghai urban community.
The purposes of this study were to identify awareness of pollution and attitudes toward eco-friendly clothing according to women's LOHAS lifestyle. Over 60% of women were not aware of severity of environment pollution by clothing wastes and 37.2% kept their not-wearing clothing in dead storage. 26.7% of women disposed not-wearing clothing into clothing collecting box separately and 20.9% sent them to neighbors or friends. 39.4% of women were willing to pay 10% more for eco-friendly clothing and 84.6% were not willing to buy clothing produced by unethical companies. Factors of LOHAS lifestyle were healthy food, environmental protection, family life, healthy clothing, healthy housing, and community service, and were segmented into using leisure group, family centered group, LOHAS group, and LOHAS stagnated group.
