Recently, one of the reason of noise problems is urban planning has little concern about noise. For solving noise problems, strategic action is needed during urban planning. The noise map is one of the solution for concerning about noise in urban planning and EC has been studied the noise map for the strategic purpose since 1970s. The noise map is powerful tool for predicting sound level, calculating exposure population and evaluating the efficiency of the noise reduction plan. In Korea, The noise map is a unfamiliar field. The experience is few for noise-mapping and the noise mapping procedure has not been standardization yet. For activation of noise map, the study about fundamental problems of collecting data md noise-mapping procedure must be need. This paper is for studying on the noise-mapping procedure in Korea and application of noise map.

Fractures, especially faults have most significant influence on the difficulties encountered in various engineering and mining works, because they can give rise to inevitable reductions in shear strength as well as large increase in permeability. Thus, before underground access is possible, it is desirable to estimate the distribution and geometry of fractures in advance, if reliable structural data from e.g. Televiewer tool are available. To this end, fracture face mapping is just the evaluation method used to form a fracture image determined by intersecting of each fracture plane with a selected plane section of a rock mass, assuming that all fractures be planar with fixed-aperture. Although many fractures are geometrically complex and others are altered chemically, according to the abundant experiments in recent years, it would seem that the technique could be applied to benefit the design of numerous engineering works such as slope stability, tunnel excavations, dam foundation and diverse environmental works. This paper presents at first an evaluation algorithm for fracture face mapping and then concludes with various representative examples of applications.

The conformal mapping method (CMM) has been broadly exploited in the study of fluid flows over airfoils and other research areas, yet it's hard to find relevant research in bridge engineering. This paper explores the feasibility of CMM in streamlined box girder bridges. Firstly, the mapping function transforming a unit circle to the streamlined box girder was solved by CMM. Subsequently, the potential flow solution of aerostatic pressure on the streamlined box girder was obtained and was compared with numerical simulation results. Finally, the aerostatic pressure attained by CMM was utilized to estimate the aerostatic coefficient and flutter performance of the streamlined box girder. The results indicate that the solution of the aerostatic pressure by CMM on the windward side is satisfactory within a small angle of attack. Considering the windward aerostatic pressure and coefficient of correction, CMM can be employed to estimate the rate of change of the lift and moment coefficients with angle of attack and the influence of the geometric shape of the streamlined box girder on flutter performance.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of community mapping based on volunteered Geographic Information System on smoking prevention among female middle school students. Methods: This study used a triangulation method which integrated quantitative data from a "pre-post" study on a nonequivalent control group and qualitative data from focus group interviews. Data was collected from 4 August 2015 to 10 January 2016. The experimental group (n=24) participated in community mapping along with education on smoking prevention and the control group (n=28) participated only in routine education. Both groups were measured on their knowledge and attitude related to smoking prevention through self-report questionnaires. The quantitative data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, $x^2$ analysis, and t-test using SPSS 23.0. The qualitative data was collected through focus group interviews to investigate the social-environmental effect of smoking prevention. Results: Knowledge related to smoking prevention was significantly higher (t=2.591, p=.013) in the experimental group than the control group. But attitude related to smoking prevention did not show significant differences between the two groups. When asked about their experiences of the community mapping program, it turned out to be a process where they could learn practical knowledge related to smoking prevention and experience their individual practices manifested as collective intelligence while working together with community members. The study found that community mapping had an effect on smoking prevention from a social and environmental aspect. Conclusion: To be more effective, school education on smoking prevention should be provided in connection with the community. It is also desirable to provide an opportunity where adolescents can experience discovering and solving practical problems along with their own community.
The objective of this paper is to illustrate that kriging can provide an effective framework both for integrating remote sensing data and for uncertainty modeling through a case study of sediment grain size mapping with remote sensing data. Landsat TM data which show reasonable relationships with grain size values are used as secondary information for sediment grain size mapping near the eastern part of Anmyeondo and Cheonsuman bay. The case study results showed that uncertainty attached to prediction at unsampled locations was significantly reduced by integrating remote sensing data through the analysis of conditional variance from conditional cumulative distribution functions. It is expected that the kriging-based approach presented in this paper would be efficient integration and analysis methodologies for any environmental thematic mapping using secondary information as well as sediment grain size mapping.

Three-dimensional data has been used for different applications such as robotics, building reconstruction, and so on. 3D data can be generated from an optical camera or a laser scanner. Especially, a wearable multi-sensor system including the above-mentioned sensors is an optimized structure that can overcome the drawbacks of each sensor. After finding the geometric relationships between sensors, georeferencing of the datasets acquired from the moving system, should be carried out. Especially, in an indoor environment, error propagation always causes problem in the georeferencing process. To improve the accuracy of this process, other sources of data were used to combine with LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data, and various registration methods were also tested to find the most suitable way. More specifically, this paper proposed a new process of NDT (Normal Distribution Transform) to register the LiDAR point cloud, with additional information from other sensors. For real experiment, a wearable mapping system was used to acquire datasets in an indoor environment. The results showed that applying the new process of NDT and combining LiDAR data with IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) information achieved the best result with the RMSE 0.063 m.

In environmental Impact assessment, noise impact assessment usually consists of three stages-surveying the existing noise levels by measurements, predicting noise levels induced by construction works and predicting noise levels after the completion of a project. The distance-attenuation relation of a point source, which has been used to predict the noise level due to its simplicity does not consider complex acoustic phenomena like multi-reflection, -diffraction and -absorption due to complex topographic configuration of buildings and terrains. For the consideration of such physical complexities. a noise mapping tool is adopted to produce a series of noise maps, which are those for the present, tot the works of construction and for the future. For accurate noise mapping, acoustical and topographic Information is used. Standard sound power levels and directivities of various construction equipments are need and scheduling of construction processes and locations of the equipments should be provided. In the case of exceeding legal limit, mitigation measures are applied to satisfy the legal limits and subsequent noise map is obtained and checked.
Forest cover density studies using high resolution satellite data and object oriented classification are limited in India. This article focuses on the potential use of QuickBird satellite data and object oriented classification in forest density mapping. In this study, the high-resolution satellite data was classified based on NDVI/pixel based and object oriented classification methods and results were compared. The QuickBird satellite data was found to be suitable in forest density mapping. Object oriented classification was superior than the NDVI/pixel based classification. The Object oriented classification method classified all the density classes of forest (dense, open, degraded and bare soil) with higher producer and user accuracies and with more kappa statistics value compared to pixel based method. The overall classification accuracy and Kappa statistics values of the object oriented classification were 83.33% and 0.77 respectively, which were higher than the pixel based classification (68%, 0.56 respectively). According to the Z statistics, the results of these two classifications were significantly different at 95% confidence level.

We introduce a new 'image-mapping' in-situ U-Pb dating method using LA-ICP-MS, proposed by Drost et al. (2018), and show the characteristics and usability of this method through several examples of absolute age results determined by first applying it to samples from the Joseon Supergroup of the Early Paleozoic Era in Korea. Unlike the previous in-situ spot analysis, this in-situ U-Pb dating method for carbonate minerals can determine the absolute age with high reliability by applying the 'image-mapping' method of micro-sized domains based on micro-textural observation, as well as determine the absolute age of multiple geological 'events' that occurred after deposition. This was confirmed in the case of determining the syn-depositional age and the multiple post-depositional ages from carbonate minerals of the Makgol and the Daegi Formations. Therefore, if the 'image-mapping' in-situ U-Pb dating method is applied to determine the absolute age of various types of carbonate minerals that exist in various geological environments throughout the geologic era, it will be possible to secure new geological age information.
