The value of Environment is so high and important that no one can estimate it correctly. In the area of Logistics, Environment protection is very important and keen subject for the present and for the future of this country and people. Environmental logistics, similarly used as Green logistics, means the protection of Nature and Environment and reduces all kinds of factors and behaviors that may destroy and deteriorate current Environment. It also include the preservation of Nature and sustainable development. Environmental logistics aims to save natural resources and to promote reuse of all kinds of materials and to increase the utilization of Environment friendly substitute goods. In this paper the concept and characteristics of Environmental logistics were summarized and described. Also the main previous studies were surveyed. Some of important cases and experiences which were introduced and applied in major countries such as Japan, Hongkong, USA and the case of PHILIPS were summarized and analyzed. With these cases and analysis, this paper suggested some alternatives and countermeasures for the improvement of Environmental logistics in terms of 3 dimensions such as Country, Company and Individual level. And a strategy model for enhancement of the Environmental logistics was suggested and limitations of this paper and future research directions were described.

The external diseconomy is hampering sustainable development of the city logistics sector. Burdens on urban environment imposed by the city logistics industry have been put in the spotlight. Based on the principle of Life Cycle Analysis, the comprehensive environment impact for city logistics systems is measured. Firstly, with the city logistics service chain as a whole, its business processes and their interactions with environment are analyzed. In total four types of major environment impact categories are determined. Secondly, case study is made on three city logistics operators located in Jing-Jin-Ji region of China with different business modes, respectively self-operation mode, joint distribution mode and the $3^{rd}$ Party Logistics or 3PL mode. Through analysis of energy consumption and emissions for various business processes, their comprehensive environmental impact values are finally obtained. Thirdly, horizontally comparative analysis is carried out to these three modes of the urban logistics distribution systems. Results show the advantages of the 3PL and the joint distribution modes in developing greener urban logistics distribution. Future research avenues and policy suggestions are proposed finally.

The purpose of this study is to examine the actual condition of environment conscious logistics(ECL) system which is essential to make material recycling economic society. ECL management which meant simply recycle is tend to promote material reduction, reuse and recycling. We have made case studies about advanced ECL system. To examine manufacture companies' ECL system, we made survey form which is consist of 82 questionnaires and 129 companies have participated for this. And we have analyzed the survey responses. As a result, we propose the way of constructing ECL system in Korea.

This study set up a hypothesis that the main variables (business environment, business strategy, business policy, logistics information system) of logistics information system utilization under ubiquitous environment would contribute to business performance, and then verified the relation between each variables that have an effect on business performance. The analysis results between each main variable can be summarized as follows. First, among main variables under ubiquitous environment, business environment closely made influence on business performance. Second, business environment, business strategy, and business policy were meaningful among other variables, whereas logistics information system was not meaningful. But, it is known that corporate performance is only meaningful to business environment and business policy. In conclusion, business performance is not achieved by each variable of business strategy, business policy and logistics information system. It is recognized that business performance is influenced by business environment that combines a given condition of business strategy, business policy and logistics information system.

Taking advantage of geographical position of Korea located on the main route of world-wide service, Port Logistics Industry can be strategic industry which secures international competitiveness necessary for Korea to be hub of Northeast Asian's logistics. Along with the advent of super large container vessel, world ports environment changed from "milkway" type, which means vessel calls every port for service to "Hub & Spoke" type, which means vessel calls regional central port and feeder service for the rest ports. As environment changes, regional ports in Northeast Asia are competing each other tougher and tougher and introducing or developing port logistics information system based on state-of-the-art technology in order to adapt themselves to new environment, thus to be Hub port. Taking this situation into consideration, we want to define clearly the meaning and scope of port logistics IT and review the global trend of port logistics IT. Finally we want to find future development of port logistics IT which we have to achieve.

With the effectuation of Kyoto Protocol, one of the important movement throughout the world is reducing the emission of greenhouse gas which is the main reason of making global warming. The actual factor of greenhouse gas is CO2, and in year of 2002 20% of total CO2 emission was produced only through transportation throughout the South Korea. In the contrary, the recycling of municipal wastes in South Korea was 44.0% in 2002, but it will be targeted upto 53.5% in 2011. All of these show environment-conscious logistics should be implemented together throughout the each stage of distribution with the development of product and service. This study applied survey research for the activities affecting to the emission of CO2 and packaging wastes produced from transportation and packaging stages in logistics area. For this, survey questionary was constructed with five specific areas - strategy, transportation & distribution, custody, packaging, and information. Based on the 148 returned survey questionaries, this study analyzed 52 categories and finally suggests necessary modal shift, collaboration & co-operation in logistics, LCA(life-cycle assessment), and other promoting policies for the environment-conscious logistics in effective way.

The modem world has brought a wave of changes, not the least of which is globalization or what is often referred to as the "borderless society." In recent times, changes in the global business environment, such as trade deregulation and advances in technology, are challenging us to find new ways of thinking about and coping with these new forces. The field of global logistics has encountered a host of paradigm shifts as well. Therefore, it is critical that managers involved in international logistics take into account perceptional swift or at least understand the value of fully utilizing information. The appropriate management of human resources is a key factor in dealing with not only new information technology, but also shifts in the business environment. In particular, it will be important for Korea's logistics managers at international logistics companies to continually work to develop themselves, as they must carry out a critical role in global supply chain management. If they fail to take heed of the demand's of the new environment, the competitiveness of Korean enterprises in international logistics will suffer severely.

The management of return flows induced by the various forms of reuse of products and materials in industrial production processes has received growing attention throughout this decade. Environmental problems are becoming hot issues in many countries and the role of the enterprise, which causes environmental contamination, has become one of the most important concerns in business. We consider the factors such as reduce, recycle, reuse, which is effected environment conscious logistics system, and then we are to suggest optimal directions through statistical analysis of effects and causes of the influences of environmental logistics activities on logistics performance. In order to attain this objective we simultaneously execute a literature and actual research considering many manufacturing companies. In this paper we analyze various factors of logistics activities for environment conscious logistics system (ECLS) for economy base construction under resources circulation, and we especially analyze effects and causes of the influences of logistics performance by the operation characteristic of enterprises.
