The Role of China Douyin Short Video App During COVID-19

  • As of September 2021, COVID-19 is still seriously impacting people globally. To better control the epidemic, the Chinese government adopted a nationwide quarantine policy at the early stage of the discovery of COVID-19, which has significantly changed people's production and life. China's Douyin app (International version: TikTok) is an extremely influential entertainment and social tool. During COVID-19, a large number of short videos about COVID-19 appeared. Publishers included government agencies, professionals, and self-media. The content released has made Douyin a tool for people to receive COVID-19 information in addition to entertainment and social functions. This is a quantitative study. By exploring the impact of the Douyin app on Chinese college students during COVID-19, this study provides suggestions from the level of social media such as TikTok to enable Korea's epidemic prevention to be more effective. This study established variable questions such as Douyin's information perceived value, information usage channels, information awareness, anti-epidemic policy attitude, trust of public institution and preventive behavioral intention, and conducted a questionnaire survey. Using SPSS to analyze the obtained data, this study found that: 1. The short video information usage channels about COVID-19 in Douyin have a positive impact on the audience's information awareness; 2. The information perceived value in Douyin has a positive impact on the audience's information awareness; 3. Information awareness and trust of public institution in Douyin have a positive impact on the audience's anti-epidemic policy attitude; 4. Information awareness and trust of public institutions in Douyin have a positive impact on the audience's preventive behavioral intention; 5. The audience's anti-epidemic policy attitude has a positive effect on preventive behavioral intention.

  • The success of the journey to the west of tvN's shows the positive prospect of web entertainment. This study highlights how viewers actively select web progrmas and how they diffuse the infomrmation of web programs to explore the possibility of success of web program and the change of viewing environment. This study revealed the attention of viewers affected the diffusion of programs via social media. The highness of the viewer's attention cause the highness of active interaction between users. The production company of web entertaninment has to focus on the high hits strategy. In the view of journalists, they covered on the appearance of the heroin rather than the content of the program. The relationship of viewing type and viral type via SNS is related with the activity of viewers. If viewers participate in viewing they express their opinion on the web entertainment actively.

  • Barrage language is a new media language based on Internet video. It is a representative expression of the Internet environment regardless of its format and content. As a unique movie viewing characteristic provided by the barrage function, the timeliness of feedback, entertainment, and interactivity of the content are excellent. Characteristic. Barrage language itself is closely related not only to the value of linguistic research, but also to the spread of the Internet in the Internet environment. Based on the current situation of Chinese video sites, this thesis explores how Barrage is an organic cycle of culture and consumption in a specific platform and group, and analyzes its propagation methods and effects.   • Up until about ten years ago, the use of typography played only an auxiliary role on broadcast television programs, primarily by transmitting information in order to facilitate a basic understanding of content. Recently, however, kinetic typography has become an important component in broadcast production. In fact, kinetic typography has developed into a visual language and a means of artistic expression, one that is increasingly used in the production of entertainment programs on television. This paper analyzes six aspects of kinetic typography: manner of development, location, intent, expressive techniques, color and font selection. Particular attention is placed on their use in three highly rated television entertainment programs: "2 Days & 1 Night", "Running Man", and "Infinite Challenge". The development way consists of the technique : starts off with cut and ends with cut. While, other techniques show conversation and situation representation using Z axis : zoom-in, zoom-out in , X axis : pan in <2 Days & 1 Night>. and Y axis : tilt in . Typographic design elements, expression technique, color, font are shown up according to the feature of each program. The resulting analysis suggests new ways for motion arts designers and the broadcast media to use kinetic typography in the development of television programs.

Technology Status and Improvement Direction of Special Theaters in Korea by Format (국내 특수상영관 포맷별 기술현황과 개선방향)

  • Special theaters were created to provide a sense of immersion and spectacles due to differentiated screens, sound, seating facilities, and advanced services, and also expanded screens. The purpose of this study is to perform comparative analysis of the technical characteristics formats shown in special theaters(3D film, 4DX, IMAX, ScreenX, and VR) in order to identify and find ways to overcome the technological limitations in production. The various formats show differences in field of view depending on the exhibition technology and these differences affect the mise-en-scene, narrative, and editing of the film and consequently result in changes in the production environment and process. Therefore, directors and creators must understand the technological features and limitations of the new formats before making their approach. However, a new format encounters limitations on production sets due to the decline of technical education and succession. In situations where shooting with a special camera is essential, the particular characteristics of each format should be carefully considered from the planning stage but financial problems arise due to increase in production period and cost. To overcome these various obstacles, it is essential to first identify problems and present alternatives through in-depth research on the production set of each format. Finally, this research aims to explore the prototype of each format and analyze the current state of production technology with formats that have not been adapted to the market trends by combining with the other formats and showing that they can survive in new ways.

  • The video production, as a recording data about the archeological survey, has advantages to be visualized in actuality and historical fact presented objects with elements such as moving images, audio(voice) and text(subtitle). While the report with text and images such as photographs and drawings does not present exactly, the video production can record a concrete excavation process to be difficult of represent with former media. To make a practical use the video production in archeological surveys, the use dimension should be expanded to the entire archeological excavations and the shooting and editing work should be done by those video production-specialized staffs. Ultimately, when this video production device is used but also for the survey purposes but also for the education, exhibition, and even commercial purposes, it can have the substantial meaning as a survey tool.

The Monitoring of Information about Food and Nutrition Presented Throughout Various Television Brodeast Media (방송매체에 나타난 식품영양정보 모니터링)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze information about food and nutrition presented through the television broadcast media, with the aim of finding out the optimal communication method for supplying the general public with accurate information. To perform this study, a total of sixteen monitoring people were recruited and trained before and during the study. Five domestic TV channels were selected to be monitored, and the total monitoring period was six months. For maximum efficiency, the monitoring people were assigned to 8 teams. The results of the present study can be summarized as follows : First, the total reported cases of information about food and nutrition were 237, of which about 30% were judged appropriate and 70% as inappropriate. Second, classifying each case by program type, information programs made up the highest portion at 82 cases (34.6%), cooking programs accounted for 76 cases (32.1%), news programs for 40 cases (16.9%), and entertainment programs for 7 cases (3.0%). The analysis showed that the greatest amount of incorrect information was found in dramas, followed by entertainment, information, cooking and news programs. Third, classifying each case by theme of contents monitored, meal preparation and cookery made up the highest portion at 86 cases (36.3%), foods accounted for 67 cases (28.3%), disease and diet-therapy for 40 cases (16.9%), eating habits for 31 cases (13.1%), and diet and fitness for 13 cases (5.5%). Incorrect information was conveyed most often on the themes of food habits, foods, disease and diet-therapy, cookery, and diet and fitness. Fourth, classifying each case by channel, Cable TV had the highest frequency at 72 cases (30.4%), MBC had 51 cases (21.5%), SBS had 43 cases (18.1%), KBS1 had 41 cases (17.3%) and KBS2 had 30 cases (12.7%). In conclusion, systematic monitoring should be continued to reduce the frequency of incorrect information being broadcast and to help ensure that accurate information is conveyed to the general public. Moreover, there should be a system of cooperation to provide information to help broadcast production teams establish a strategic program. Finally, it is essential to organize an advisory team by promoting links between the mass media and specialists in the field, and to develop an educational program on nutrition to help ensure the communication of accurate information on food and nutrition.   • The purpose of this study was to analyze information about food and nutrition topics presented throughout the television broadcast media, thereby suggest the optimal communication method to give right information to the general public. To perform this study, total sixteen monitoring people were recruited and trained through monitoring practice before and during the study . Five domestic TV channels were selected to be monitored, for six months. For the best efficiency, all the monitoring people were divided into 8 teams based on the regional consideration. The statistical analysis of data was completed using SAS program. The main results of this study are as follows. First, the total reporting cases of information about foods and nutrition were 237 , among which about 30% was classified as appropriate and 70% as inappropriate based on the trained monitors' evaluation. Second, the analysis of contents about incorrect informations showed that the insufficient descriptions of terminology and contents were the highest. And insufficient scientific evidences, incorrect contents excessively entertainment-oriented, no provision of alternatives , improper selection of expert advisors were followed. These results suggest that systematical monitoring should be continued to reduce the frequency of incorrect communication thereby give the right information in food and nutrition area to the general public. And there should be a closely cooperated system to provide the professional information to broadcasting production team by establishing the strategic program. In order to do that, most importantly the advisory team should be organized to professionally connect mass media to corresponding specialists. In addition, more educational programs about food and nutrition should be developed to provide right information to the general public.

  • This study examines the forms and current status of online performance content production in the field of the performing arts through diversified video media platforms. For this, it studied the leading case of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment and analyzed the unique brand value innovation elements of Cirque du Soleil, the background and current status of the digital hub platform of "Cirque Connect", and its various sub-contents that have diversified original contents. Digital platform applications and sub-content production in the field of the performing arts require an understanding of the needs of the public, who are familiar with media content appreciation, and strategic planning that takes into consideration everything from the initial stages of performance planning to the creation of varied sub-contents. This will promote the improvement of sub-content quality and increase the product value of digital contents in the performing arts through distinctions made from other various forms of cultural and artistic contents. environments in which information from various perspectives related to performance works can easily be accessed through online platforms will enhance the popularity of the performing arts field and allow the performing arts industry to expand its base in rapidly changing cultural enjoyment methods. For the performing arts field to be competitive within cultural trends that are being diversified, the most important tasks to be completed are gaining brand value innovation that enhances the artistic and cultural value of performance works and based on this, producing various sub-contents.

The Work Identity and Labor Experience of the Broadcasting Scriptwriters : Focusing on the Auto-ethnography that Reflects the Experiences of the Scriptwriters (방송 구성작가의 업무 정체성과 노동경험: 구성작가들의 체험이 반영된 자기기술지 분석을 중심으로)

  • Scriptwriters have appeared in Korea's broadcasting production system for more than 40 years as a key producer. This study specifically investigated the work identity and labor experience of scriptwriters who have played countless roles from planning and organizing programs in various broadcast genres such as non-drama informative program, entertainment, news, and radio to script writing. As a result of examining the work identity and labor experience of the scriptwriters based on the auto-ethnography of the 20 scriptwriters working in the field, they felt that they had an " indispensable" program producer and a media culture producer and at the same time felt that they were taking on tasks that were unclear. They felt that the cause of this inequality was a problem of the production system and employment type, but they recognized that they could not be solved individually, and they were developing their own skills or building connections to get work, and expanding their areas unconditionally.
