Squat reinforced concrete (SRC) shear walls are a critical part of the structure for both office/residential buildings and nuclear structures due to their significant role in withstanding seismic loads. Despite this, empirical formulae in current design standards and published studies demonstrate a considerable disparity in predicting SRC wall shear strength. The goal of this research is to develop and evaluate hybrid and ensemble artificial neural network (ANN) models. State-of-the-art population-based algorithms are used in this research for hybrid intelligence algorithms. Six models are developed, including Honey Badger Algorithm (HBA) with ANN (HBA-ANN), Hunger Games Search with ANN (HGS-ANN), fitness-distance balance coyote optimization algorithm (FDB-COA) with ANN (FDB-COA-ANN), Averaging Ensemble (AE) neural network, Snapshot Ensemble (SE) neural network, and Stacked Generalization (SG) ensemble neural network. A total of 434 test results of SRC walls is utilized to train and assess the models. The results reveal that the SG model not only minimizes prediction variance but also produces predictions (with R2= 0.99) that are superior to other models.
Reinforced Concrete (RC) shear walls are one of the civil structures in nuclear power plants to resist lateral loads such as earthquakes and wind loads effectively. Risk-informed and performance-based regulation in the nuclear industry requires considering possible accidents and determining desirable performance on structures. As a result, rather than predicting only the ultimate capacity of structures, the prediction of performances on structures depending on different damage states or various accident scenarios have increasingly needed. This study aims to develop machine-learning models predicting drifts of the RC shear walls according to the damage limit states. The damage limit states are divided into four categories: the onset of cracking, yielding of rebars, crushing of concrete, and structural failure. The data on the drift of shear walls at each damage state are collected from the existing studies, and four regression machine-learning models are used to train the datasets. In addition, the bagging ensemble method is applied to improve the accuracy of the individual machine-learning models. The developed models are to predict the drifts of shear walls consisting of various cross-sections based on designated damage limit states in advance and help to determine the repairing methods according to damage levels to shear walls.

The idea of ensemble learning is to train multiple models, each with the objective to predict or classify a set of results. Most of the errors from a model's learning are from three main factors: variance, noise, and bias. By using ensemble methods, we're able to increase the stability of the final model and reduce the errors mentioned previously. By combining many models, we're able to reduce the variance, even when they are individually not great. In this paper we propose an ensemble model and applied it to classification problem. In iris, Pima indian diabeit and semiconductor fault detection problem, proposed model classifies well compared to traditional single classifier that is logistic regression, SVM and random forest.

This study investigates the efficiency of ensemble machine learning for predicting the lightweight-aggregate concrete (LWC) characteristics. A stacking ensemble (STEN) approach was proposed to estimate the dry density (DD) and 28 days compressive strength (Fc-28) of LWC using two meta-models called random forest regressor (RFR) and extra tree regressor (ETR), and two novel ensemble models called STEN-RFR and STEN-ETR, were constructed. Four standalone machine learning models including artificial neural network, gradient boosting regression, K neighbor regression, and support vector regression were used to compare the performance of the proposed models. For this purpose, a sum of 140 LWC mixtures with 21 influencing parameters for producing LWC with a density less than 1000 kg/m3, were used. Based on the experimental results with multiple performance criteria, it can be concluded that the proposed STEN-ETR model can be used to estimate the DD and Fc-28 of LWC. Moreover, the STEN-ETR approach was found to be a significant technique in prediction DD and Fc-28 of LWC with minimal prediction error. In the validation phase, the accuracy of the proposed STEN-ETR model in predicting DD and Fc-28 was found to be 96.79% and 81.50%, respectively. In addition, the significance of cement, water-cement ratio, silica fume, and aggregate with expanded glass variables is efficient in modeling DD and Fc-28 of LWC.
As the blockchain technology attracts attention, interest in cryptocurrency that is received as a reward is also increasing. Currently, investments and transactions are continuing with the expectation and increasing value of cryptocurrency. Accordingly, prediction for cryptocurrency price has been attempted through artificial intelligence technology and social sentiment analysis. The purpose of this paper is to develop a deep learning ensemble model for predicting the price fluctuations and one-day lag price of cryptocurrency based on the design science research method. This paper intends to perform predictive modeling on Ethereum among cryptocurrencies to make predictions more efficiently and accurately than existing models. Therefore, it collects data for five years related to Ethereum price and performs pre-processing through customized functions. In the model development stage, four LSTM models, which are efficient for time series data processing, are utilized to build an ensemble model with the optimal combination of hyperparameters found in the experimental process. Then, based on the performance evaluation scale, the superiority of the model is evaluated through comparison with other deep learning models. The results of this paper have a practical contribution that can be used as a model that shows high performance and predictive rate for cryptocurrency price prediction and price fluctuations. Besides, it shows academic contribution in that it improves the quality of research by following scientific design research procedures that solve scientific problems and create and evaluate new and innovative products in the field of information systems.
Ensemble classification is to utilize multiple classifiers instead of using a single classifier. Recently ensemble classifiers have attracted much attention in data mining community. Ensemble learning techniques has been proved to be very useful for improving the prediction accuracy. Bagging, boosting and random subspace are the most popular ensemble methods. In random subspace, each base classifier is trained on a randomly chosen feature subspace of the original feature space. The outputs of different base classifiers are aggregated together usually by a simple majority vote. In this study, we applied the random subspace method to the bankruptcy problem. Moreover, we proposed a method for optimizing the random subspace ensemble. The genetic algorithm was used to optimize classifier subset of random subspace ensemble for bankruptcy prediction. This paper applied the proposed genetic algorithm based random subspace ensemble model to the bankruptcy prediction problem using a real data set and compared it with other models. Experimental results showed the proposed model outperformed the other models.
The ImageNet dataset is a large scale dataset and contains various natural scene images. In this paper, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based weighted ensemble technique for the ImageNet classification task. First, in order to fuse several models, our technique uses weights for each model, unlike the existing average-based ensemble technique. Then we propose an algorithm that automatically finds the coefficients used in later ensemble process. Our algorithm sequentially selects the model with the best performance of the validation set, and then obtains a weight that improves performance when combined with existing selected models. We applied the proposed algorithm to a total of 13 heterogeneous models, and as a result, 5 models were selected. These selected models were combined with weights, and we achieved 3.297% Top-5 error rate on the ImageNet test dataset.
In this paper, we developed a framework to detect and predict insider information leakage by collecting and restoring network traffic. For automated behavior analysis, many meta information and behavior information obtained using network traffic collection are used as machine learning features. By these features, we created and learned behavior model, network model and protocol-specific models. In addition, the ensemble model was developed by digitizing and summing the results of various models. We developed a function to present information leakage candidates and view meta information and behavior information from various perspectives using the visual analysis. This supports to rule-based threat detection and machine learning based threat detection. In the future, we plan to make an ensemble model that applies a regression model to the results of the models, and plan to develop a model with deep learning technology.
