  • In an environment with a large network bandwidth, maximizing bandwidth utilization is an important issue to increase transmission efficiency. End-to-end transfer efficiency is significantly influenced by factors such as network, data transfer nodes, and intranet network security policies. Science DMZ is an innovative network architecture that maximizes transfer performance through optimal solution of these complex components. Among these, the data transfer node is a key factor that greatly affects the transfer performance depending on storage, network interface, operating system, and transfer application tool. However, tuning parameters constituting a data transfer node must be performed to provide high transfer efficiency. In this paper, we propose a method to enhance performance through tuning parameters of 100Gbps data transfer node. With experiment result, we confirmed that the transmission efficiency can be improved greatly in 100Gbps network environment through the tuning of Jumbo frame and CPU governor. The network performance test through Iperf showed improvement of 300% compared to the default state and NVMe SSD showed 140% performance improvement compared to hard disk.

  • Due to the emersion of J2EE(Java 2, Enterprise Edition), many enterprises inside and outside of the country have been developing the enterprise applications appropriate to the J2EE model. With the help of the component model of Enterprise Java Beans(EJH) which is the J2EE core technology, we can develop the distributed object applications quite simple. EJB application can be implemented by using the component-oriented object transaction middleware and the most applications utilize the distributed transaction. EJB developers can concentrate on the business logic because the EJB server covers the middleware service. Due to these characteristics, EJB technology became popular and then the study for EJB based application has been done quite actively However, the research of metrics for measuring the performance during run-time of the EJB applications has not been done enough. Tn this paper, we explore the workflow for the EJB application service on the run-time and classify the internal operation into several elements. We propose the metrics for evaluating the performance up to the bean level by using the classified elements. First, we analyze the lifecycle according to the bean types which comes from the EJB application on the run-time as to extract each factor used in performance measurement. We also find factors related to a performance and allocate the Performance factors to the metrics as the bean types. We also consider the characteristics like the bean's activation and message passing which happens during bean message call and then analyze the relations of the beans participating in the workflow of the application to make the workflow performance measurement possible. And we devise means to bring performance enhancement of the EJB application using the propose.

  • Entrepreneurship is an important factor not only for start-ups, but also for scale-up of businesses. In other words, the two aspects of establishment and growth of businesses must be balanced through entrepreneurship. However, it is true that entrepreneurship has been biased toward the former in previous researches and government policies. Here in this research, the causal relationships between the entrepreneurial characteristics of Korean firms and the performance of the company, which is measured by proposal, activity, and business performance are examined as a growth perspective. Based on these relationships, a model describing the operating mechanism of corporate entrepreneurship is derived and policy implications are provided. In conducting research, the hypotheses on the interrelationship of variables are builded using '2016 Entrepreneurship Situation Survey(Corporate)' data from Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation and analyzed by structural equation modeling. In addition, the moderating effect according to the firm size and the mediating effect between entrepreneurship and business performance are analyzed. As a result of this research, the fact that entrepreneurship affects business performance is identified and it is necessary to prioritize corporate vision and strategy for enhancement of entrepreneurship. In particular, necessity of operating system for SMEs is confirmed considering SMEs' entrepreneurship level. The implications of this research are expected to be applied by the government in establishing policy direction to enhance corporate entrepreneurship of SMEs in the future.

  • Bifidobacterium species isolated from infant feces were fractionated into cell wall, cytosol, and extracellular preparations of culture broth, and each fraction was examined for Peyer's patch-mediated bone marrow cell proliferation activity in vitro. Cell wall preparation of B. bifidum SL-21 (CWP) showed the highest bone marrow cell proliferating activity dose dependently, and enhanced production of cytokines, such as hematopoietic growth factor (GM-CSF), IL-2, and IL-6, in culture supernatant of Peyer's patch cells, After treatment with lysozyme, CWP was fractionated, among which intermediate molecular-weight fraction (30-50 kDa) showed significantly high bone marrow cell proliferating activity. These results suggest CWP of B. bifidum SL-21 effectively activates lymphocytes in Peyer's patch, and several cytokines, possibly playing important role in enhancement of systemic immune system, were produced by activated lymphocytes.

  • Forty weanling piglets ($5.6{\pm}0.5kg$ and 26 to 30 d of age) were used in a 28-d experiment to determine the effects of ${\beta}$-glucan from Paenibacillus polymyxa and L-theanine on growth performance. Piglets were randomly allotted to four groups (n = 10, 2 animals per pen) provided with the basal feed (control), ${\beta}$-glucan 400 mg/kg feed, L-theanine 80 mg/kg feed or ${\beta}$-glucan plus l-theanine (combination of the above-mentioned concentrations). Body weight and feed consumption were recorded during four weeks. Subsequently, the immunomodulatory effects of ${\beta}$-glucan and L-theanine were investigated for lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cytokine production in vitro and in vivo on day 28. Although there were no significant differences in the growth performances among the treatment groups, ${\beta}$-glucan plus L-theanine had 5.6% greater ADG (p = 0.074) on day 21 to 28. ${\beta}$-Glucan alone or plus L-theanine increased interleukin (IL)-10 levels and decreased interferon (IFN)-$\gamma$ and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$ levels in cultured medium by LPS treatment (p<0.05). Plasma IL-10 levels were also increased in the piglets fed with ${\beta}$-glucan alone or plus L-theanine after LPS challenge ($25{\mu}g/kg$, i.p.), whereas plasma IFN-$\gamma$ and TNF-${\alpha}$ levels were decreased (p<0.05). The levels of IFN$\gamma$ in piglets fed with ${\beta}$-glucan plus L-theanine showed the greatest inhibition after LPS challenges. In conclusion, treatment of ${\beta}$-glucan alone or plus L-theanine might lessen inflammatory responses against Gram-negative bacterial infection via the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokine production and enhancement of anti-inflammatory cytokine production. Further studies are needed to determine an optimal concentration of ${\beta}$-glucan and L-theanine for improved growth performance.

  • The immunomodulatory effects of Aureohasidium pullulans SM-2001 exopolymers containing $\beta$-1,3/1,6-glucan were evaluated in cyclophosphamide (CPA)-treated mice. To induce immunosuppression, 150 and 110 mg/kg of CPA were intraperitoneally injected 3 days and 1 day, respectively, before beginning administration of the test material. Exopolymers were delivered subcutaneously or orally, four times, in a volume of 10 ml/kg at 12-h intervals beginning 24 h after the second CPA treatment. Changes in thymus and spleen weights, splenic amounts of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-$\alpha$, interleukin (IL)-$1{\beta}$, and IL-10, and numbers of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, and TNF-$\alpha+$ thymus and spleen cells were monitored in CPA-treated mice. As a result of CPA treatment, dramatic decreases in the number of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, and TNF-$\alpha+$ cells were detected in the thymus and spleen, along with decreases in thymus and spleen weights. In addition, splenic TNF-$\alpha$, IL-$1{\beta}$, and IL-10 contents were also decreased on observation with flow cytometry. However, oral and subcutaneous treatments with exopolymers effectively reduced the immunosuppressive changes induced by CPA. Therefore, it is concluded that exopolymers of A. pullulans SM-2001 can effectively prevent immunosuppression through, at least partially, the recruitment of T cells and TNF-$\alpha+$ cells or enhancement of their activity, and can provide an effective component of prevention or treatment regimens for immunosuppression related to cancer, sepsis, and high-dose chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

  • The sludge disposal is a major economic factor in the sewage treatment facility operation. Moreover, since the ocean dumping will be prohibited by Korean environmental law from 2013, sludge should be eliminated or sludge volumetric reduction should be performed urgently. In this study, improvement of the sewage sludge dewaterability was investigated by ultrasound and electric field treatment. Sludge was treated by a single or in combination of either the electric field or ultrasound on a pilot pretreatment facility, then it was dewatered by lab-scale filter press. The operating input energy of ultrasound device was varied from 225~1,200 kJ/L and electric field device was varied from 4.5~24 kJ/L. The water contents of dewatered sludge cake treated with ultrasound (1,200 kJ/L) and combination of ultrasound/electric field (1,224 kJ/L) were decreased 10~12% by comparing non-treated sludge. At that time, water contents were 65~66%. The combination treatment of ultrasound/electric field was effective to reduce water content of dewatered sludge cake, however, water content was not changed by a single treatment of electric field because of low energy density.

  • Procedures to separate motile. normal & motile and acrosome-reacted sperm with high efficiency have clinical application in Assisted Reproductive Technology in terms of increasing the probability of fertilization by a normal sperm and subsequent normal embryonic development. This study evaluated the effects of 10 sperm preparation techniques [Swim-up from a washed pellet (SU). Swim-up from semen (SO). Continuous Percoll Gradients I (PIC). Discontinuous Percoll Gradients I (PID). Continuous Percoll Gradients II(P II C). Discontinuous Percoll Gradients II(P II D), SpermPrep (SFC). Wang's tube (WT). Albumin Gradients (AG), Low temperature capacitation (LTC)] on motility (%), normal morphology (%), motile sperm recovery rate(%). morphologically normal & motile sperm recovery rate (%), true acrosome reaction (%) and fertilizing ability. A P II D proved to be an effective means of separating morphologically normal & motile sperm. Our results indicated the P II D has advantages as compared with other methods in terms of recovery rate. enhancement of motility and normal morphology. And a LTC seems to be an effective means of enhancing the true acrosome reaction and fertilizing ability. These results suggest that the combined method of LTC and P II D for separation of morphologically normal & motile sperm and acrosome reacted sperm may be a useful procedure for intrauterine insemination and in vitro fertilization in the management of male factor infertility as well as for isolation of subpopulation of sperm for basic research.

  • Lanthanide(III)-cored complex as a wavelength conversion material has been successfully designed and synthesized for highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells, for the first time, since light with a short wavelength has not been effectively used for generating electric power owing to the limited absorption of these DSSCs in the UV region. A black dye (BD) was chosen and used as a sensitizer, because BD has a relatively weak light absorption at shorter wavelengths. The overall conversion efficiency of the BD/WCM device was remarkably increased, even with the relatively small amount of WCM added to the device. The enhancement in $V_{oc}$ by WCM, like DCA, could be correlated with the suppression of electron recombination between the injected electrons and $I_3{^-}$ ions. Furthermore, the short-circuit current density was significantly increased by WCM with a strong UV light-harvesting effect. The energy transfer from the Eu(III)-cored complex to the $TiO_2$ film occurred via the dye, so the number of electrons injected into the $TiO_2$ surface increased, i.e., the short-circuit current density was increased. As a result, BD/WCM-sensitized solar cells exhibit superior device performance with the enhanced conversion efficiency by a factor of 1.22 under AM 1.5 sunlight: The photovoltaic performance of the BD/WCM-based DSSC exhibited remarkably high values, $J_{sc}$ of 17.72 mA/$cm^2$, $V_{oc}$ of 720 mV, and a conversion efficiency of 9.28% at 100 mW $cm^{-2}$, compared to a standard DSSC with $J_{sc}$ of 15.53 mA/$cm^2$, $V_{oc}$ of 689 mV, and a conversion efficiency of 7.58% at 100 mW $cm^{-2}$. Therefore, the Eu(III)-cored complex is a promising candidate as a new wavelength conversion coadsorbent for highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells to improve UV light harvesting through energy transfer processes. The abstract should be a single paragraph which summaries the content of the article.

  • The information society based on Internet has positive effects to provide us with abundance and comfort as well as enhancement of quality of life. But it also has negative effects which bring about more serious social problems than real life. These negative effects of the cyber space are especially critical to elementary school students who do not have good judgment capability and clear concept on cyber space. To solve these problems, we have to let them have ethical sense to respond to the dysfunctions of Internet. We need to enforce Internet ethics education at home and in school so that they can behave as responsible and moral behaviors in this information society. Because the most of the elementary school students usually use Internet at home, the role of their parents can be particularly important factor in Internet ethics education. The purpose of this paper was to identify the current status of the consciousness on Internet ethics of the elementary school students who are the creators of new culture on Internet and their parents who make great influence on their education, and to study what influence the consciousness on the Internet ethics of parents has made on the Internet usage of their children. Through this study, we try to provide the desirable direction for Internet ethics of elementary school students.
