  • It opens a new horizon on spintronics for the potential application of MTJ as a universal logic element, to employ the magneto-logic in substitution for the transistor-based logic device. The magneto-logic based on the MTJ element shows many potential advantages, such as high density, and nonvolatility. Moreover, the MTJ element has programmability and can therefore realize the full logic functions just by changing the input signals. This magneto-logic using MTJ elements can embody the reconfigurable circuit to overcome the rigid architecture. The established magneto-logic element has been designed and fabricated on a triple-layer MTJ. We present a novel magneto-logic structure that consists of a single layer MTJ and a current driver, which requires less processing steps with enhanced functional flexibility and uniformity. A 4-bit gray counter is designed to verify the magneto-logic functionality of the proposed single-layer MTJ and the simulation results are presented with the HSPICE macro-model of MTJ that we have developed.

  • In IP-based wireless sensor networks (WSNs), it might be necessary to distribute application updates to the sensor nodes in order to fix bugs or add new functionality. However, physical access to nodes is in many cases extremely limited following deployment. Therefore, network reprogramming protocols have recently emerged as a way to distribute application updates without requiring physical access to sensor nodes. In order to solve the network reprogramming problem over the air interface, this thesis presents a new scheme for new update code propagation using fragmentation scheme and network coding. The proposed code propagation method roughly shows reduced performance improvement in terms of the number of data exchange compared with the previously proposed pipelining scheme. Further, It is shows enhanced reliability for update code propagation and reduced overhead in terms of the number of data exchange. As a result, we can efficiently perform the software update from the viewpoint of speed, energy, and network congestion when the proposed code propagation system is applied. In addition, the proposed system solves overhearing problems of network coding such as the loss of original messages and decoding error using the predefined message. Therefore, our system allows a software update system to exchange reliable data in wireless sensor networks.

  • In order to examine the functionality of broccoli sprout (Brassica oleracea, BS), solvent extracts were prepared and their anti-oxidative and immunomodulating activities were compared with those of broccoli (B). EtOH extracts (E) were potently higher than hot-water extracts (HW) in the antioxidant contents and radical scavenging activity. In particular, the total polyphenolic contents in addition to ABTS and DPPH radical scavenging activity were significantly higher in EtOH extract of broccoli sprout (BS-E; 9.15 mg GAE/g, 4.52 mg AEAC/g, and 1.14 mg AEAC/g) compared with that of broccoli (B-E; 7.83 mg GAE/g, 3.63 mg AEAC/g, and 0.97 mg/AEAC/g). Whereas, total flavonoid content was significantly higher in B-E (1.60 mg QE/g) than BS-E (1.43 mg QE/g). Anti-inflammatory activity was investigated using LPS-induced cell line model at a concentration of $10{\sim}100{\mu}g/mL$, in which all solvent extracts of both broccoli sprouts and broccoli were not toxic to RAW 264.7 cell lines. In anti-inflammatory activity of broccoli sprouts, EtOH extracts also showed significantly more potent activity than hot-water extracts in all sample concentrations tested. In addition, BS-E ($100{\mu}g/mL$) inhibited nitric oxide (NO) and IL-6 production to 60.9% and 68.9% compared with the LPS inflammation group (without extracts), whereas B-E inhibited 49.6% and 54.9%. On the other hand, in immunostimulating activity by splenocytes and macrophages, hot-water extract showed significantly higher activity than EtOH extract. Especially, BS-HW stimulated the splenocyte proliferation (1.2-fold against saline group) and IFN-${\gamma}$ production (264.39 pg/mL) at $100{\mu}g/mL$, and the production of IL-6 (1.33-fold), IL-12 (1.09-fold) and TNF-${\alpha}$ (1.49-fold) from macrophages was also significantly enhanced over broccoli. In conclusion, broccoli sprouts showed more potent anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and immunostimulating activity than broccoli, suggesting the possibility of using broccoli sprouts as functional food materials.

  • Many recent studies on deep learning-based road crack detection have shown significantly more improved performances than previous works using algorithm-based conventional approaches. However, many deep learning-based studies are still focused on classifying the types of cracks. The classification of crack types is highly anticipated in that it can improve the crack detection process, which is currently relying on manual intervention. However, it is essential to calculate the severity of the cracks as well as identifying the type of cracks in actual pavement maintenance planning, but studies related to road crack detection have not progressed enough to automated calculation of the severity of cracks. In order to calculate the severity of the crack, the type of crack and the area of the crack in the image must be identified together. This study deals with a method of using Mobilenet-SSD that is deep learning-based object detection techniques to effectively automate the simultaneous detection of crack types and crack areas. To improve the accuracy of object-detection for road cracks, several experiments were conducted to combine the U-Net for automatic segmentation of input image and object-detection model, and the results were summarized. As a result, image masking with U-Net is able to maximize object-detection performance with 0.9315 mAP value. While referring the results of this study, it is expected that the automation of the crack detection functionality on pave management system can be further enhanced.

  • To abate the environmental burden derived from the massive generation of cattle manure (CM), pyrolysis of CM was suggested as one of the methods for manure treatment. In respect of carbon utilization, pyrolysis has an advantage in that it can produce usable carbon-based chemicals. This study was conducted to investigate a syngas production from pyrolysis of CM in CO2 condition. In addition, mechanistic functionality of CO2 in CM pyrolysis was investigated. It was found that the formation of CO was enhanced at ≥ 600 ℃ in CO2 environment, which was attribute to the homogeneous reactions between CO2 and volatile matters (VMs). To expedite reaction kinetics for syngas production during CM pyrolysis, Catalytic pyrolysis was carried out using Co/SiO2 as a catalyst. The synergistic effects of CO2 and catalyst accelerate the formation of H2 and CO at entire temperature range. Thus, this result offers that CO2 could be a viable option for syngas production with the mitigation of greenhouse gas.

  • This study examined changes in the body composition of Protaetia brevitarsis larvae fed sulfur and selenium. Among the general chemical components, an increase in protein was observed in the sulfur-fed group, whereas an increase in fatty acid was found in the groups fed selenium and sulfur/selenium. The structural amino acid showed some tendency to be increased compared to the control group, but this was especially true in the sulfur-fed group. The free amino acid were increased in the groups fed selenium and sulfur/selenium, with GABA, Glu, and Pro, in particular, being increased in the group fed sulfur/selenium. Among the essential amino acids, Met, Trp, and Val tended to be increased in selenium and sulfur/selenium groups. Saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids showed a tendency to increase in the group fed sulfur/selenium, but monounsaturated fatty acid tended to be decreased in the group. In particular, no oleic acid was detected in the sulfur/selenium group, whereas palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid, and linoleic acid were increased. From observations of these body composition changes associated with the feeding of sulfur and selenium, it is estimated that the group fed sulfur/selenium would likely undergo a pronounced change in body composition. Therefore, we suggest that it is possible to manufacture a food that has enhanced functionality by appropriately adjusting the diet of Protaetia brevitarsis larvae.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the wheat cultivation system to reduce costs and mechanize wheat production. A field study was conducted for 2 years (2009 to 2010) at the National institute of crop science, Iksan, Korea. We used working system I and working system II for the experiment. Working system I is used a multiple machine attached with a spreader tractor (seeding, fertilization, seed coverage, and weed control functionality) and working system II is used a multiple machine with a tractor which works for simultaneous job when seeding step (seeding, fertilization, and seed coverage). Sowing to harvesting operation time is 118 hours/ha for mechanize with conventional planting. Working system I is a multiple machine and a combine machine with a tractor, which worked 26 hours/ha lower than conventional planting. Working system II is 18 hours/ha lower than conventional planting. The reduced work efforts of working system I and II were 78% and 85% respectively. The growth and yield of wheat according to working system I and II is lower than conventional planting. Therefore, a multiple machine needs to study for appropriate seeding rate. Mechanization cost in consideration of the mechanical break-even point when the working system I is 3.7 ha and working system II is 4.2 ha. The farm income is enhanced by working system I (778,110 won/ha) and working system II (849,930 won/ha). The results showed that application of a multiple machine lowered costs of wheat production.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the components and nutritional quality of red-tanner crab (Chionoecetes japonicus) paste in order to explore possibility for food processing source such as surimi gel containing crab paste. Yield of crab paste was $30\%$ from whole body after crushing and dehydrating. Crude protein contents $(9.5\%)$ of crab paste was lower than that $(13.1\%)$ of crab muscle, but fat $(0.5\%)$ and ash contents $(8.0\%)$ of paste were higher than $0.2\%\;and\;1.3\%$ of crab muscle, respectively. Volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) content of the crab paste was lower than those of the edible parts. Total amino acid content (9,497mg/l00g) of paste was lower than that (12,980mg/100g) of muscle. Aspartic acid, glutamic acid, lysine and leucine were the predominant amino acids in the protein fraction. The calcium content (6,539mg/l00g) was higher than those of phosphorus (579mg/100g), and potassium (793mg/100g) while manganese and iron were present in trace amounts. Major fatty acids of total lipid were 16:0, 18:1n-9, 20:5n-3 and 22:6n-3, and no difference of composition between paste and muscle. Sensory evaluation showed that scores of color and flavor of $15\%$ substituted surimi gel increased significantly when compared to surimi gel without crab paste (p<0.05). From the above results, the addition of crab paste enhanced nutrition and functionality of surimi gel.
