  • Software-based GNSS receivers have the great advantage in flexibility compared with conventional receivers. But it has some problems to processing IF level Signal RAW data, need long time to process long term data and TTFF is long because the process is too slow. So this time, we concentrated on the signal acquisition, and examined the speedup technique. Using this technique, the acquisition was speedup dramatically, and signal-to-noise ratio was improved.

  • This paper presents a technique to reduce the low frequency ripple voltage of the dc output in a BIFRED converter with a small-sized energy storage capacitor. The proposed pulse width control method can be effectively used to suppress the low frequency ripple appeared in the dc output and still maintains generally good performance such as low THD of input line current and a high power factor. Using the small-sized energy storage capacitor, it has better merits of low cost and smaller size than a conventional BIFRED converter. The proposed technique is illustrated its validity and effectiveness through simulations.

  • Pure and stable YAG $(Y_3Al_5O_{12})$ powders were synthesized by a PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) polymer solution technique. PVA was used as an organic carrier for the precursor ceramic gel. The precursor gels were crystallized to YAG at relatively a low temperature of $900\;^{\circ}C$. The synthesized powders, which have nano-sized primary particles, were soft and porous, and the porous powders were ground to sub-micron size by a simple ball milling process. The ball-milled powders were densified to 94% relative density at $1500\;^{\circ}C$ for 1h. In this study, the characteristics of the synthesized YAG powders were examined.

  • An improved predictive control technique using adaptive load estimation is proposed. The conventional predictive control technique has not concerned load variations and system parameters. Thus control performances are undesirable such as large current ripples and offset. In this paper the proposed controller employing a simple adaptive algorithm to estimate load is expected to be useful to overcome the problems of conventinal predictive controller.

  • This paper proposes a new TR-based baseline-free SHM technique in which the time-reversal (TR) property of the guided Lamb waves is utilized. The new TR-based SHM technique has two distinct features when compared with the other TR-based SHM techniques: (1) The backward TR process commonly conducted by the measurement is replaced by the computation-based process; (2) In place of the comparison method, the TOF information of the damage signal extracted from the reconstructed signal is used for the damage diagnosis in conjunction with the imaging method which enables us to represent the damage as an image. The proposed TR-based SHM technique is then validated through the damage diagnosis experiment for an aluminum plate with a damage at different locations.

  • Energy Efficiency in any WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) is a critical issue to elongate the life of the batteries equipped in sensors. LEACH(Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) is one of the mostly used routing algorithms which reduce the amount of transmitted data and save the energy in the network. In this paper, a new technique to select channels in routing algorithms is suggested and compared with the LEACH, ALEACH and PEGASIS. This technique forms clusters depending upon the node density as the deployement of the nodes is random. As a result, the proposed algorithm presents the better performance of the energy efficiency than those of the current algorithms.

  • A state-space method is developed to investigate the time-dependent behaviors of an angle-ply cylindrical shell in cylindrical bending with surface-bonded piezoelectric layers. Both the interfacial diffusion and sliding are considered to describe the properties of the imperfect interfaces. Particularly, a matrix reduction technique is adopted to establish the transfer relations between the elastic and piezoelectric layers of the laminated shell. Very different from our previous paper, in which an approximate numerical technique, i.e. power series expansion method, is used to deal with the time-dependent problems, the exact solutions are derived in the present analysis based on the piezoelasticity equations without any assumptions. Numerical results are finally obtained and the effects of imperfect interfaces on the electro-mechanical responses of the laminated shell are discussed.

  • This paper proposes an efficient approach based on a machine learning technique to predict the local stresses on mooring chain links. Three-link and multi-link finite element analyses were conducted for a target chain link of D107 with steel grade R4; 24,000 and 8000 analyses were performed, respectively. Two serial Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models based on a deep multi-layer perceptron technique were developed. The first ANN model corresponds to multi-link analyses, where the input neurons were the tension force and angle and the output neurons were the interlink angles. The second ANN model corresponds to the three-link analyses with the input neurons of the tension force, interlink angle, and the local stress positions, and the output neurons of the local stress. The predicted local stresses for the untrained cases were reliable compared to the numerical simulation results.

  • This paper presents the slope wall technique using soil improvement material for reinforced soil slope through laboratory scale model tests, and verifies the experimental results comparing with numerical analysis. In additional, case study in field has performed to investigate the deformation of reinforced soil slope for 6 months. As a result of laboratory scale model test, numerical analysis, and case study, the reinforcement effect of the slope wall technique using soil improvement material is sufficient to be constructed as reinforced soil slope. The technique shows the stable ratio (0.4%) of horizontal to vertical deformation in the surface loading.
