설계 데이터가 손실된 선박에 대한 BWMS 설치 계획 연구 (A Study on BWMS Installation for a Ship without CAD Data)

  • After 2017 years, BWMS units must be installed in the existing ship as well as the new ship by the ballast water management convention. Software tools that can help automatically searching for BWMS installation space to avoid pipes and equipment in the engine room of the existing ship will be very useful in the BWMS layout design. In this study, voxel representation of scanned data is generated first to search space efficiently. Simplified voxel models of each unit are prepared to be located in the engine room space as well. Distance between connected models is calculated through the arrangement direction and position of each model. Sums of distance between connected models are compared for the optimal configuration. It is assumed that the sum of distance between connected models depicts the pipe usage. The proposed method can save the time needed for BWMS installation design and allows optimal configuration of BWMS units.

엔진룸 내의 열유체 유동의 2차원 수치시뮬레이션 (A two-dimensional numerical simulation of the thermal and fluid flow in engine room)

  • The complex geometry of the engine room of a passenger car has been modelled two-dimensionally and the thermal and fluid flow therein have been analyzed by using a commercially available code, PATRAN/FLORAM$\mid$N. FLOTRAN adopts a finite element method with streamline upwind formulation for convective terms and the k-.epsilon. turbulence model to solve the three dimensional turbulent flow and heat transfer problems. Velocity vectors, pressure and temperature distributions have been obtained for various cases with different arrangements of license plate, underbody-covers and air dams. The results show that the numerical analysis using PATRAN/FLOTRAN can predict qualitatively well the practical phenomena.

노즐 위치 및 분사각이 공기유동 및 $CO_2$ 소화제 전달특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Nozzle's Location & Injection Angle on the Characteristics of Air Flow and $CO_2$ Extinguishant Transfer)

  • To analyze the characteristics of air flow and $CO_2$ extinguishant transfer when extinguishant is injected into a closed space similar to marine engine room, a numerical simulation on a space was performed. Flow fields and $CO_2$ concentration fields are calculated according with the variation of the location & injection angle of nozzles. The results of simulation showed that the pattern of recirculation flow was affected greatly with the location & injection angle of nozzles and such a recirculation flow accelerated mass transfer of $CO_2$ and greatly affected the diffusion process of $CO_2$ extinguishant. It is considered that this result of this study can be useful to designing the arrangement of nozzles for the $CO_2$ fire fighting equipments in a marine engine room.

  • There is few study which automatically diagnoses the fault from ship's monitored data. The bigger control and monitoring system is. the more important fault diagnosis and maintenance is to reduce damage caused by system fault. This paper proposes fault diagnosis system using a correlation analysis algorithm which is able to diagnose and forecast the fault from monitored data and is composed of fault detection knowledge base and fault diagnosis knowledge base. For all kinds of ship's engine room monitored data are classified with combustion subsystem, heat exchange subsystem and electric motor and pump subsystem, To verify capability of fault detection, diagnosis and prediction, FMS(Fault Management System) is developed by C++. Simulation by FMS is carried out with population data set made by the log book data of 2 months duration from a large full container ship of H shipping company.

  • For ships of ice class, finish Maritime Administration(FMA) requires brackets on intersections between longitudinal frames and the web frames within the ice-strengthened area. The main object of this paper is to verify ultimate load carrying capacity of longitudinal frame without brackets of engine room region of 74,100 DWT Product Oil Tanker. Comparative approach between proposed structures from builder (the proposed structure) and structures satisfying the Finnish-Swedish ice class rules (the rule structure) is used for the analysis.

  • The Insulation, which is consist of the glass wool, mineral wool or perforated SUS plate, installed on the wall or under ceiling for the protecting heat and the blocking the noise of engine room area. In our shipyard, designing the structure model of insulation is hard and difficult, Because designed the insulation model is considered of any factors which are hull model properties of panel shape, direction and thickness and service of area. In this paper, We issue the way to utilize shape and direction of the hull model information and specific character of working space in engine room.

  • In this paper, the electromagnetic shielding performance of a BiMODAL Tram is investigated by means of an electromagnetic analysis tool, called HFSS. For the purposed of doing this, first, three-dimensional finite element modeling for the tram including electronic devices and engine room is carried out. Then, for quantitatively assessing the electromagnetic shielding performance of the tram's body, concentration indexes for electric field magnitude and time-average stored electric energy are introduced. From numerical results, it is inferred that the tram's body can protect the electronic devices and engine room against external electromagnetic waves from 30 MHz to 100 MHz.

  • This paper presents the frequency range and an analysis method to find the dominant source of electro-magnetic wave which originates from a spark ignition in engine room. Applying the distributed constant equivalent circuit theory the radiation of probable electro-magnetic wave around an ignition plug and a high voltage cable is studied analytically. Experimental studies are also conducted by measuring the frequency spectrum to obtain the radiating characteristics of electro-magnetic wave. Results from both analytical and experimental studies confirm that an ignition plug and a high voltage cable are dominant sources of electro-magnetic wave and that the radiating frequency is ranged from 1.3[GHz] to 2[GHz] band.

  • Axial fans are widely used in heavy machines due to their ability to produce high flow rate for cooling of engines. At the same time. the noise generated by these fans causes one of the most serious problems. This work is concerned with the low noise technique of discrete frequency noise. The prediction model. which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the blade passing frequency and it's harmonics. has been developed by Farrasat. This theory is founded upon the acoustic radiation of unsteady forces acting on blade. To calculate the unsteady resultant force over the fan blade. Time-Marching Free-Wake Method are used. The fan noise of fan system having unsymmetric engine-room is predicted. In this paper, the discussion is confined to the performance and discrete noise of axial fan and front part of engine room in heavy equipments.
