In recent years, renewable energy sources have been mentioned as solution to environmental regulation and energy supply-demand. Energy storage systems are needed to mitigate the intermittent output characteristics of renewable energy sources and to operate micro grid efficiently using renewable energy generation systems. However, despite the necessity of energy storage system, this cannot secure the economical efficiency of the energy storage system by high initial cost. In this paper, a micro grid is constructed to supply electric power to industrial customers by using solar power generation system and energy storage system among renewable energy generation power sources and operated to improve energy independence. In the case study, we use photovoltaic system which is representative renewable energy generation system. Unlike conventional photovoltaic system, this system uses floating photovoltaic system with the advantage of having high output and no land area limitations. It is operated for the purpose of improving energy independence in the micro grid. In order to secure economical efficiency, the energy storage system operates a micro grid with a minimum capacity. Finally, this paper calculates the appropriate subsidy for the energy storage capacity.
The energy storage system is considered to be one of the useful devices for energy storing and recycling. the energy storage system can save energy cost and stabilize the system voltage. This paper presents the development of two energy storage systems. One is 750V system for light rail system. the other is 1500V system for heavy rail system.
The recent environmental protection trend requires more strict energy saving, therefore every transportation system should reduce energy consumption to the minimum value. High-efficiency operation system, energy saving and CO2 emissions shall be addressed as important issue in railway system. These issues are the most essential factors of railway, compared to major public transportation system. Recently, saving energy in the electric railway system has been studied. For such new energy saving, the Energy storage system is considered for saving energy. Energy saving is possible by efficient use of regenerated energy. Regenerated energy is recycled amongst vehicles by mean of charge and discharge corresponding to powering and braking of electric vehicle operations. This energy saving contributes to cut CO2 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Recycling regenerated energy demonstrate significant effect on peak cut of consumption energy in railway substation. Absorption of excess energy avoids regeneration failure due to high traction voltage. This paper presents effects by applying the energy storage system to SeoulMetro Line 2.
The present society have been polluted the earth environment by the rapid industrial growth. So, the meaning of sustainable development is doing more important. Therefore the technology skills of sustainable architecture techniques have been studied many-side of energy as like energy saving and substitutive energy. But, See the studies until now, there have been just one system either energy saving or substitutive energy. So, the paper studies about energy saving system with substitutive energy system(the double-skin facade system with PV modules) and presents the performance of system through the analysis of reduction of the energy load, the solar radiation on the slope angle of PV module, the blind effect in system.

Building energy saving is one of the most important issues in these days. Control algorithm for energy saving should be designed properly to reduce power consumption in building. Recently, building energy system consists of hybrid energy system coupling with RE (Renewable Energy) source. In this paper, an optimum control algorithm for building energy saving is applied to BEMS (Building Energy Management System) by using an outdoor air temperature prediction strategy. BEMS coupling with renewable energy can control HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning) system effectively. In order to verify the effectiveness of building energy saving, BEMS was tested for several months at a laboratorial chamber with an air conditioner, fan and heater. To this end BEMS embedded control algorithm has been tested successfully.
The recent environmental protection trend requires more strict energy saving, therefore every transportation system should reduce energy consumption to the minimum value. High-efficiency operation system, energy saving and $CO_2$ emissions shall be addressed as important issue in railway system. This energy saving contributes to cut $CO_2$ to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Recycling regenerated energy demonstrate significant effect on peak cut of consumption energy in railway substation. Absorption of excess energy avoids regeneration failure due to high traction voltage. Therefore, the energy storage system is needed to be adopted to use regeneration energy when the vehicle is braking.
This study set out to devise an optimized system to take into account life cycle cost(LCC) and ton of carbon dioxide($TCO_2$) by applying the weighted coefficient method(WCM) to "public-purpose" facility buildings according to the mandatory 5% and 11% of new renewable energy in total construction costs and anticipated energy consumption, respectively, based on the changes of the public obligation system. (1) System installation capacity is applied within the same new renewable energy facility investment according to the mandatory 5% of new renewable energy in total construction costs. Both LCC and $TCO_2$ recorded in the descending order of geothermal, solar, and photovoltaic energy. The geothermal energy systems tended to exhibit an excellent performance with the increasing installation capacity percentage. (2) Optimal systems include the geothermal energy(100%) system in the category of single systems, the solar energy(12%)+geothermal energy(88%) system in the category of 2-combined systems, and the photovoltaic energy(12%)+solar energy(12%)+geothermal energy(76%) system and the photovoltaic energy(12%)+solar energy(25%)+geothermal energy(63%) system in the category of 3-combined systems. (3) LCC was the highest in the descending order of photovoltaic, geothermal and solar energy due to the influences of each energy source's correction coefficient according to the mandatory 11% of new renewable energy in anticipated energy consumption. The greater installation capacity percentage photovoltaic energy had, the more excellent tendency was observed. $TCO_2$ recorded in the descending order of geothermal, photovoltaic and solar energy with the decreasing installation capacity of photovoltaic energy. The greater installation capacity percentage a geothermal energy system had, the more excellent tendency it demonstrated. (4) Optimal systems include the geothermal energy(100%) system in the category of single systems, the photovoltaic energy(62%)+geothermal energy(38%) system in the category of 2-combined systems, and the photovoltaic energy(50%)+solar energy(12%)+geothermal energy(38%) system and the photovoltaic energy(12%)+solar energy(12%)+geothermal energy(76%) system in the category of 3-combined systems.
In general, the entire air supply of a bio-safety laboratory (BSL) should be exhausted on the outside to ensure bio-safety, and the air conditioning system should always be operated to maintain a difference in the room pressure. As a result, the annual energy consumption of such a building is approximately five or ten times higher than that of an office building of the same magnitude. Thus, this study applies an actual operating system that targets BSL. The energy consumption is analyzed using the Energy Plus V8.0 program (an energy analysis program), and five kinds of cases that depend on the energy consumption of the basic BSL system are also analyzed. As a result, the energy consumption in Case 1 (basic system) is of 324.95 GJ. When the basic system of Case 1 is compared to that in Case 2 (basic system+passive design with exterior envelopes), an annual energy savings of is 6.9% is achieved. For Case 3 (basic system+Photovoltaic, PV) 12.7% is achieved, and for Case 4 (Solar Geothermal Hybrid System of renewable energy, SGHS) 49.5% is achieved. If a passive design with exterior envelopes and renewable energy system (PV+SGHS) is combined, as in Case 5, the energy consumption would be 118.15 GJ. Therefore, when this last system is compared to a basic system, the passive design with exterior envelopes and renewable energy system (PV+SGHS) can reduce energy consumption by 63.6%.
Six thousands of vehicles are operated on Korean urban transit system. 95% of them have regeneration system. Especially, the VVVF-Inverter vehicle has a merit of the highest regeneration rate. Therefore, the energy storage system is needed to be developed to use regeneration energy when the vehicle is braking. Therefore, Measuring regeneration energy in the substation need to know how much regeneration energy occurs, how much capacity of energy storage system is needed. After measuring regeneration energy, we design the capacity of energy storage system.
The aim of this study was to analysis the Heating/cooling performance of Solar Window System built in apartments. The solar window is the idea to integrate daylight as a third form of solar energy into a PV/Solar Collector system and allows more control due to the possibility to close the reflectors. However, there can be a conflict between the desire for on one hand daylight and view and on the other hand optimal energy conversion for the PV/Solar Collector system. The process of this study is as follows: 1) The Solar Window system is designed through the investigation of previous paper and work. 2)The simulation program(ESP-r, Therm5.0, Window6.0) was used in energy performance analysis. The reference model of simulation was made up to analysis energy performance on Solar Window system. 3)Selected reference model(Floors:15, Area of Unit:$148.5m^2$) for heating/cooling energy analysis, Energy performance simulation with various variants, such as U-value of Solar Window system according to its position and angle. Consequently, When Solar Window system is equipped with balcony window of Apartment, Annual heating and cooling energy of reference model was cut down about 5%~11%.
