A study was carried out to examine the effect of sample form and storage conditions on the accumulated PPSL signals. Korean perilla and sesame seeds were tested as whole samples and separated minerals. Radiation-induced PPSL signals of perilla and sesame seeds themselves significantly increased with irradiation dose up to 5 kGy. On the other hand, a slight decrease in the accumulated PPSL signals was shown at 10 kGy. Similar results were also found in separated minerals. The accumulated PPSL signals of irradiated samples decreased with increasing storage periods. The decay rate was higher in 5 or 10 kGy-irradiated samples than in 1 kGy, in room conditions than in darkroom conditions, and in sesame and perilla seeds themselves than in separated minerals. The accumulated PPSL signals of the irradiated samples measured fur 120 s were higher than those measured for 60 s. These results indicated that although the PPSL signal of all samples decreased with increasing the storage time, detection of irradiated samples was still possible after 12 months of storage regardless of sample form and measurement times (60 and 120 s) in both room and darkroom conditions.

The rapid demand for electric vehicles and energy storage systems has increased interest in energy storage devices worldwide. New technological alternatives are needed to reliably supply energy storage mineral resources such as lithium and vanadium, which are key materials for energy storage devices. Already, research and development activities are taking place in various countries on technologies that can directly secure lithium and vanadium. Accordingly, it is very important to analyze each country's technological trends through patent and paper analysis to establish effective research and development strategies and to set future technological development directions. This study analyzed trends in the development of new technologies and the current status of research and development at home and abroad through patent data from Korea, the United States, Europe, and Japan that were disclosed or registered from 1970 to October 2019, and the data searched for papers from January 2000 to October 2019. According to the analysis, the current growth stage of the technology related to energy storage minerals is in the beginning stage. Therefore, it is believed that a strategy to rapidly upgrade technology by combining the development of new technologies and demonstration of developed technologies is needed in order to lead the technology market and strengthen the competitiveness of technologies.

The alloys which compositions were represented by the formula, $Ti_{(0.22+X)}Cr_{(0.28+1.5X)}V_{(0.5-2.5X)}$ ($0{\leq}X{\leq}0.12$), had the total hydrogen storage capacity higher than 3 wt% and the effective hydrogen storage capacity higher than 1.4 wt%. Particularly, among all the tested alloys, the $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43}V_{0.25}$ alloy exhibited the best effective hydrogen storage capacity of 1.65 wt%. Furthermore, the reversible bcc${\leftrightarrow}$fcc structural transition was observed with hydrogenation and dehydrogenation, which predicted the possibility of pressure cycling. EDS analysis revealed micro-segregation, which suggested the necessity of microstructure homogenization by heat treatment. The $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43}V_{0.25}$ alloy was selected for heat treatment and for other related studies. The results showed that the total and the effective hydrogen storage capacity increased to 3.7 wt% and 2.3 wt%, respectively. The flatness of the plateau region was also greatly improved and heat of hydride formation was determined to be approximately -36 kJ/mol $H_2$.

Hydrogen storage properties of $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43-X}V_{0.25}M_X$($0{\leq}X{\leq}0.1$, M=Fe, Mn, Si) have been investigated. With varing of Mn content, the lattice parameter of the alloy was unchanged and similar to that of $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43}V_{0.25}$ alloy. With increase of Fe, Si content, the lattice parameters of the BCC phases decreased. When the Fe content was 8 at%, the desorption plateau pressure increased to several atmospheres without decrease of the effective hydrogen storage capacity of the alloy. When the Mn content was 8 at%, the effective hydrogen storage capacity showed approximately 2.5 wt% without change in the desorption plateau pressure. With increase of Si content, hysteresis increased and hydrogen storage capacity decreased rapidly. A study was also made on how desorption temperature affected the usable hydrogen of the $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.35}V_{0.25}Mn_{0.08}$ alloy. The temperature was varied from 293 to 413 K, and the pressure from 5 to 0.002 MPa. The usable hydrogen of the alloy was 2.7 wt% when absorbed and desorbed at 293 K and 373 K., respectively. The heat of hydride formation of the alloy was approximately -35.5 kJ/mol $H_2$.

Geochemical analysis of the various kinds of water including observation borehole groundwater was carried out for the assessment of the hydrological safety of the underground oil storage cavern and the potentiality of mineralogical and microbiological clogging was estimated. Most of water samples belonged to $Ca-HCO_3$ and $Ca-HCO_3-SO_4$ types. There was no distinct chemical difference in the various kinds of water. All kinds of water are undersaturated with the calcite which is the major clogging mineral. Most water samples have low Fe and Mn concentrations. However, they are saturated or oversaturated with the iron-oxide/hydroxide minerals and have high dissolved oxygen contents which suggests the possibility of clogging by the iron-oxide/hydroxide minerals as a long-term aspect. Several water samples from the ground observation borehole also show the high saturation indices far the clay minerals, which can fill up the fractures, indicating the possibility of clogging by the clay minerals. Statistical analysis shows the degree of mineral precipitation or dissolution is mainly controlled by pH, Eh and DO of water samples. According to the microbial analysis, the aerobic microbes and slime forming bacteria are dominant in most water samples and anaerobic microbes including sulfate reducing bacteria are very low or not detected. Although the slime forming bacteria which are known as a main microbial cause of the clogging is lower than $10^5\;CFUs/mL$ in all water samples, because the slime forming bacteria are dominant microbe in several observation boreholes, the clogging can be caused by it as a long-term aspect. In addition, the possibility of clogging can be increased if the microbial effect is combined with the mineralogical effect such as iron oxide/hydroxide minerals for the possibility of clogging. Therefore, the systematic and long-term program for the assessment of clogging is required for the safe operation of underground oil storage cavern.
Green, black and oolong teas were irradiated by $^{60}$ Co-gamma rays (0~10 kGy) and were investigated for detection of irradiation treatment using pulsed photostimulated luminescence (PPSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) during storage. Teas irradiated at 2.5 kGy or more showed a photon count of greater than 5000 counts/60 sec while the non-irradiated yielded only 650~1000 count/60 sec. Correlation coefficients between irradiation dose and photon counts/60 sec were 0.8951, 0.7934 and 0.9007 for green, black and oolong teas, respectively. The TL glow curves for minerals isolated from the non-irradiated teas were situated at about 30$0^{\circ}C$ with a low intensity, but for irradiated samples were approximately 15$0^{\circ}C$ with a high intensity. The TL ratios (TL$_1$/TL$_2$), calculated from values after initial radiation and then after re-irradiation of the teas, were below 0.1 for the non-irradiated samples and higher than 1.44 for all irradiated samples, enhanced the reliability of the identification results for TL. The signal intensity of PPSL and TL for irradiated teas decreased with the lapse of post-irradiation storage time at room temperature but was still distinguishable from that of the non-irradiated samples even after one year.
Some physicochemical properties of gamma-irradiated soybeans (0-20 kCy) were investigated. Proximate components, fatty acid compositions and minerals of the soybeans irradiated at 2.5 - 20 kGy shrived no difference from the nonirradiated control. Irradiation doses above 10 kGy and long term storage caused decrease in extractable phenols and phytate content, whereas increases in acid value and organic acid content. The total amino acids content of the soybeans irradiated up to 10 kGy was not changed as compared with the nonirradiated control. Sulfur-containing amino acids, however, were changed by 10 and 20 kGy irradiaton. Gamma irradiation and long term storage caused minor changes in the color attributes of soybeans. Hunter's 'L' (lightness) and 'b' (yellowness) values were decreased whereas 'a' (redness) value was increased with increasing dose levels and the elapse of the storage period.
This study was carried out to observe changes in several detection factors derived from thermoluminescence (TL) of minerals separated from irradiated Korean perilla and sesame seeds during storage under normal room and darkroom conditions. The TL intensities of the first glow curves increased from 0 to 5 kGy but only slightly increase from 5 to 10 kGy. Maximum TL temperatures of the first glow curves in all irradiated samples were around 20$0^{\circ}C$, ranging from 150 to 25$0^{\circ}C$. Since the control (0 day of storage) glow curve ratios of G3 and G4, calculated from re-irradiated (1 kGy) sample were over 0.5, detection of irradiation was possible. However, because Gl ratios were below 0.1, they were classified as non-irradiated. There was n unique first glow curve shape that could be clearly seen in all irradiated samples, regardless of storage conditions, that was never seen in non-irradiated samples. In all samples, the maximum TL temperatures and shape of the second glow curve was in a lower temperature range than that of the first glow curve. Therefore, detection of irradiated Korean perilla and sesame seeds was possible fur up to 3 months after irradiation, regardless of storage conditions, by examining several TL detection factors; including TL intensity, glow curve ratios maximum TL temperatures, and the shapes of glow curves.
Animal welfare is often neglected by livestock productionists when considering the utilization of animal wastes for livestock feeds. The present review has been carried out to examine the nutritive value of poultry wastes for ruminants, the health risks involved with feeding it, the treatment and feeding methods and the production responses of animals fed on it. It was found that mineral, crude protein, crude fibre and metabolisable energy concentrations are influenced by the system of poultry production, the storage of the waste and the treatment method. Heating at $60^{\circ}C$ kills all pathogens apart from Clostidium botulinum whereas proper ensiling kills all. Apart from the kidney fat and the liver, animal tissues have not shown residues of drugs or heavy metals from poultry wastes. Palatability is affected when the moisture is more than 200 g/kg. Production responses are satisfactory when poultry wastes replace portions of concentrates. It was concluded that poultry litter generally has higher metabolisable energy contents than poultry manure, but research is needed to classify poultry litters on their energy values. The adverse effects of toxic minerals and drug residues are negligible in balanced poultry waste feeding systems.
