  • It is very important and necessary to predict luminous enviroment in an interior space. This paper has described about energy saving and evaluated interior visual environment in a office building having on/off turning control lighting system utilizing daylight. In order to predict the interior varior illumination distribution, the scale model was made and examined under various conditions, such ad difference of window glass, and color pattern of wall, floor, and also ceiling lighting system type. This paper suggests that basic fundamental data of lighting design performance in the concept and schematic stages of design.

  • Salient pole rotor type single phase switched reluctance motor is of simple and rigid structure, short shaft and simple driving circuit. Especially, the output power per unit volume of salient pole rotor structure is comparatively high because the magnetic fluxes of axial and radial direction are simultaneously used. Therefore, this motor will be used at small space and difficult maintenance situations. In this paper, the selecting method of proper pole arc, stator, and rotor dimension of salient pole rotor type single phase SRM is proposed.

  • Simulated electron tunneling time through a potential barrier is compared with theoretical phase time. For a GaAs/Al/sub 0.3/Ga/sub 0.7/As/GaAs potential barrier with 300 meV height and 3 nm or 5 nm width, simulations are performed with various average electron energies and momentum deviations. The simulation results become closer to the theoretical phase time as the average electron energy decreases and as the momentum deviation decreases. It is also shown that a barrier, which is due to the peak spectrum shift in the momentum space after tunneling. (author). refs., figs.

  • In this paper, a BLDC motor and its controller are developed for treadmill application. Motor size and structure are restricted in the design stage due to the limited and enclosed space of the treadmill. The shape of the rotor magnet is analyzed using FEM with restricted design conditions. Manufacturing, cost and performance are also considered. A biomechanical analysis of human locomotion with the change of velocity is considered in the design of the controller. For stable operation of the treadmill, current and temperature are to be detected by the DSP controller. The prototype BLDCM and its controller are tested to verify its performances.

  • The UV curing industry is one of the most wide application fields in the coating and printing inks industry. Applications extend to general coating for paper, board, wood tapes, compact discs and holograms, ink, photoresists for imaging processes and adhesives for welding and sealing in circuit boards. The UV-curing resins have advantages of quick set, space saving, clean environment and efficient use of energy. The purpose of this study has been to control of morphology structures consist of UV-curing resins and alkyd resins. Therefore, we are investigated with regard to rheology properties on the exposure to UV-curing, structures and mechanical properties for curing films.

  • This study is intended to forecast changes in Ubiquitous technology-based residential environment since the digital revolution so as to suggest the direction of furniture design in the near future. Among Ubiquitous technologies, the intelligent digital technology applied to a residential environment is defined as "Smart Digital Technology." Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy named the residential environment where such technology is applied "Smart Home." Smart Home is strategically creating intelligent residential environment where interactivity is made between human, furniture and residential environment, based on home automation, home network and intelligent sensor technology. Smart furniture is based on strategic characteristics of smart home. Its convergence with IT equipments is being made. Largely, smart furniture has three characteristics as below: First, smart furniture provides users with information on home management, health management, education and fashion. not just functioning as storage space. Second, smart furniture that is a new lifestyle pattern will suggest a new aesthetic standard based on unsettled shapes and innovative structure. Finally, it gives convenience to users intelligently. Namely, smart furniture, "intelligent informative furniture", will be suggested as a new paradigm.

  • The proposed contactless charger employs a pair of neighboring printed circuit board windings as a contactless energy transfer device, thereby making it amenable to low-profile designs and suitable for applications to the portable telecommunication/computing electronics in which stringent requirements for height, space, and reliability have to be met. The performance of the proposed charger is confirmed with experiments on a prototype charger developed for cellular phones.

  • The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that the genetic algorithm can be useful for the global path planning when the obstacles and current field data are given. In particular, the possibilities for a novel type small AUV mission deployment in tidal regions, which experience vortical currents, were examined. Experimental simulations show feasibility and effective in generate the global path regardless of current and obstacles. By choosing an appropriate path in space, an AUV may both bypass adverse currents which are too fast to be overcome by the vehicle's motor and also exploit favorable currents to achieve far greater speeds than motors could otherwise provide, while substantially saving energy.

  • Spacecrafts such as most of commercial satellites that are operating in the geostationary orbit can be subjected to intense irradiation by charged particles. The surface made of dielectric materials can therefore become probable sites for damaging electrostatic discharges. Thanks to a specially equipped chamber, the spatial environment can be reproduced experimentally in the laboratory. In this paper, the behavior of high energy electrons injected in polymers such as PolyMethylMetaAcrylate (PMMA) and Kapton is studied. Results obtained by surface potential technique, pulse-electro acoustic device and a cell based on the split Faraday cup system are analyzed and discussed.

  • This paper deals with the parallel operation of inverters. To enlarge capacity of inverter system and reduce current ripples on inverter output side, two or more inverters are operated in parallel. Up to now six-step inverters and sinusoidal PWM inverters are considered in parallel operation, but using space-vector PWM inverters we can get many advantages of reducing ripple current energy and torque ripple and so on. As we can choose effective voltage vectors more freely than single operation, inverter output current ripples can be reduced by shifting beginning and end point of switching state back and forth.
