  • A spray-type cleaning agent in utilizing dust-remover on PCB was chosen to study the cleanliness test and efficiency. In order to choose alternative environmental-friendly cleaning agents, it is important that the systematic selection procedures should be introduced and applied through the evaluation of their cleaning ability, environmental characteristics, and economical factors, and that the objective and effective evaluation methods of cleanliness should be established for the industry. A novel cleaning evaluation method with scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive X-ray analysis of surface observation evaluation method and an infra-red thermography camera(THERMOVISION A20 model) was studied in this work. The sound card(CT-2770 model) cut by $2{\times}2cm$ size was used as a part, and before and after the spray cleaning, the cleanliness was observed by the image analyzer of SEM and further the removal efficiency of dust was quantitatively evaluated by the component analysis of EDX. For the parts of P4TE model motherboard and IPC-A-36 PCB plate, before and after the spray cleaning, temperature differences were measured and compared at room temperature and 50 oven temperature by an infra-red thermography camera in the contaminants of dust and iron powder.

  • Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) thin films for TFT channel were prepared by using a Facing Target Sputtering (FTS) system. To investigate the effect of oxygen on the optical and the electrical properties of amorphous InGaZnO(a-IGZO), we prepared thin films by FTS system in various oxygen atmospheres at room temperature. As-deposited IZTO thin films were investigated by using a UV/VIS spectrometer, an X-ray diffractometer, a Hall Effect measurement system, and an atomic force microscope. The quantitative analysis of the films was carried out by using the energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) technique for the as-deposited film.

  • In this study, CdSe-$TiO_2$ photocatalyst were synthesized by a facile solvothermal method and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrophotometer. The photocatalytic activity was investigated by degrading methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution under irradiation of UV light as well as visible light. The absorbance of degraded MB solution was determined by UV-vis spectrophotometer. The results revealed that the CdSe-$TiO_2$ photocatalyst exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity than $TiO_2$ both under irradiation of UV light as well as visible light.

  • A simple green method was developed for rapid synthesis of silver and gold nanoparticles (AgNPs and AuNPs) has been reported using Lonicera japonica flower extract as a reducing and a capping agent. AgNPs and AuNPs were carried out at $70^{\circ}C$. The successful formation of AgNPs and AuNPs have been confirmed by UV-Vis spectro photometer, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDAX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). To our knowledge, this is the first report where Lonicera japonica flower was found to be a suitable plant source for the green synthesis of AgNPs and AuNPs.

  • Nanocomposites comprised of graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets and magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles were synthesized by a sol-gel process. The synthesized samples were studied by X-ray powder diffraction, atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. The results show that the MgO nanoparticles, with an average diameter of 70 nm, are decorated uniformly on the surface of the GOs. By controlling the concentration of the MgO precursors and reaction cycles, it was possible to control the loading density and the size of the resulting MgO particles. Because the MgO particles are robustly anchored on the GO structure, the MgO/GOs nanocomposites will have future applications in the fields of adsorption and chemical sensing.

  • In this study, we prepared graphene by using the modified Hummers-Offeman method and then introduced the metals (Pt, Pd and Fe) for dispersion on the surface of the graphene for synthesis of metal-graphene composites. The characterization of the prepared graphene and metal-graphene composites was performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). According to the results, it can be observed that the prepared graphene consists of thin stacked flakes of shapes having a well-defined multilayered structure at the edge. And the metal particles are dispersed uniformly on the surface of the graphene with an average particle size of 20 nm.

  • Nickel oxide-doped ACF and $TiO_2$ composites (NiO/ACF/$TiO_2$) were prepared by a sol-gel method. The composite obtained was characterized by BET surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. A methylene blue (MB) solution under visible light irradiation was used to determine their photocatalytic activity. Excellent photocatalytic degradation of the MB solution was observed using the $TiO_2$, Ti-ACF and NiO/ACF/$TiO_2$ composite under visible light.

  • We studied the microstructure and magnetic properties of Fe nanosized powder synthesized by the pulsed wire evaporation method. The x-ray diffraction spectrum confirmed that this powder had a pure ${\alpha}$-Fe phase. Scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope measurements indicated that the prepared powder had uniform spherical shape with core-shell structure. The mean powder size was about 35 nm and the thickness of the surface passivation layer was about 5 nm. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy measurement indicated that the surface passivation layer was iron oxide. Magnetic field dependent magnetization measurement at room temperature showed that the maximum magnetization of the prepared powder was 177.1 emu/g at 1 T.

  • We functionalized a wear-resistant carbon-based MoS2 filler to solve its limited wear condition problem. The filler exhibits excellent lubricative properties. The surface modification of MoS2 was carried out using a (3-glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) silane coupling agent to improve the low compatibility and dispersibility of the filler that generally degrade the performance of composites. A silane coupling agent was employed for the functionalization of MoS2, and its effect on the wear resistance of MoS2/Polyamide-6,6 was investigated. The silanization of MoS2 was identified by contact angle analysis and Fourier-transform infrared, energy dispersive X-ray, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies. The wear resistance of the composite was found to be improved significantly by the surface functionalization of MoS2.

  • Zirconia powders with nano size pores and high specific surface areas were synthesized via aqueous precipitation and hydrothermal synthetic method using $ZrOCl_28H_2O$ and $NH_4OH$ under pH=11 and ambient condition. By this reaction. zirconia hydrate $(ZrO_x(OH)_{4-2x})$ was primarily synthesized and the obtained zirconia hydrate was heat treated hydrothermally using an autoclave at various temperatures under pH=11. X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy, Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, FT-IR, Raman, Particle size analysis, DTA-TG, and BET techniques were used for the characterization of the powder. The synthesized zirconia showed an amorphous phase, however, the phase was transformed to the crystalline state during the hydrothermal process. The observed crystalline phase above $160^{\circ}C$ was a mixed phase of monoclinic and tetragonal zirconia. By the BET analysis, it was found that the specific surface area was ranged in $126{\sim}276m^2/g$ and the zirconia had the cylindrical shaped pores with average diameter of $2{\sim}7nm$.
