Currently, there is a wave of second startup companies in Korea as well as within the global market, and the role of accelerators have become highly important at the center of changes. In the early 2000s, Y-Combinator has made Airbnb and Dropbox grow into a global company, and its start-up support model has begun to gain worldwide attention, and further became the beginning of the "accelerator" industry. The accelerator industry has been expanding rapidly throughout the United States, Britain and Israel, as well as China and Southeast Asia in recent years. As of the end of 2018, more than 130 accelerators have been operating in Korea, starting with Primer in 2010, and the scope of its activities has been expanding into specialty fields such as Pintech, bio industry, and Block chain, as well as Game. The purpose of this study is to study the role of the accelerator through the phenomenon of these accelerators and their step-by-step support services.

In this study, two extreme cases of compatibility of the horizontal displacements between the foundation and soil are considered, for which the pressure and settlements of the isolated footings and member end actions in structural elements are obtained using the three dimensional models and numerical experiments. The first case considered is complete slip between foundation and soil, termed as the un-coupled analysis. In the second case of analysis, termed as the coupled analysis, complete welding is assumed of joints between the foundation and soil elements. The model and the corresponding computer program developed simulate these two extreme states of compatibility giving insight into the variation of horizontal displacements and horizontal stresses and their intricacies, for evaluation of the influence of using the interface elements in soil-structure interaction analysis of three dimensional multiscale structures supported by isolated footings.

Pennsylvania is one of the states that adopted the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM) and crafted its own standards (The PA Core State Standards). Pennsylvania teachers are required to have a clear understanding of the PA Core Standards. It is timely and appropriate to study Pennsylvania teachers' beliefs, as the standards have been adopted and implemented for several years since the revision of the PA Core Standards (2014). This study examined how eight western Pennsylvania elementary school teachers' beliefs about teaching and learning mathematics related to the SMP. To this end, I conducted an in-depth interview with each participating teacher. The in-depth interviews featured the teachers' overarching mathematical instructional goals and their productive beliefs. Furthermore, I linked these beliefs with the CCSSM Standards for Mathematical Practice (SMP).

The study of Putin's Russia should be placed in a broad historiographical context, prevailing in the West. While in the beginning of the post-Soviet era, most observers believed that Russia would reach a Fukuyamian "end of history," the situation is quite different now. At present, Western observers see Putin's Russia as the manifestation of authoritarianism. While this assumption is undoubtedly true, it does not provide much insight into the regime's operational model. Here, a comparison with Renaissance and early modern Europe might provide a clue to the operational model of the regime. Similar to early modern European rulers, Putin limits the use of direct and wide use of force, preferring manipulation, corruption, and the targeted killing of his most important enemies. In foreign policy, Putin has tried to avoid wholesale conflicts and broadly uses mercenaries, whose relationships with the Kremlin are downplayed. The similarities between Putin's regime and early modern European regimes do not mean that their destinies will be the same. In Europe, the Renaissance led to centralized states, whereas in Russia, the "Renaissance" could well lead to the country's disintegration.

Faced with a series of violent confrontations on civil rights in the State of Alabama in 1963, John F. Kennedy gave a formal speech that heralded the end of his unusually long-drawn-out aloofness from the issue. The speech marked a new phase in Kennedy's political leadership as the thirty-fifth president of the United States employed a rhetoric of moral failure, defining the University of Alabama crisis and the ensuing civil rights struggle as a threat to American federalism and national ideals. This paper employs the formal, neoclassical terms of rhetoric to analyze the distinct mode of persuasion Kennedy employs in which the former U.S. president (1) appeals to moral interpretation as a proper solution to the aggravating social situation and (2) puts an interpretation on civil disorder in Birmingham, Alabama as a major threat to national identity, rather than a regional, largely party-political question.

Oxidative stress has been implicated in a range of disease states, including end-stage renal failure treated with hemodialysis [Westhuyzen J. et al, 2003]. Free radicals react with biological molecules and destroy the structure of cells, which eventually causes free-radical induced disease such as cancer, renal failure, aging, etc. Exogenous or endogenously produced nitric oxide (NO) inhibits superoxide-stimulated urea permeability. In the inner medulla, superoxide generation by local oxidases may stimulate urea transport, and the role of endogenous No may be to dampen this effect by decreasing superoxide levels ［Zimpelmann J. et al, 2003 (Epub ahead of print)］. The classical HMM is defined by a parameter triple �� = (��, A, B), where each parameter represents a collection of probability distributions: initial state, state transition and output distributions in order. This paper proposes a new stationary parameter e = (e1, e2, …, eN) where N is the number of states and et = P(|xt = i, y) for describing how an input pattern y ends in state xt = i at time t followed by nothing. It is often said that all is well that ends well. We argue here that all should end well. The paper sets the framework for the theory and presents an efficient inference and training algorithms based on dynamic programming and expectation-maximization. The proposed model is applicable to analyzing any sequential data with two or more finite segmental patterns are concatenated, each forming a context to its neighbors. Experiments on online Hangul handwriting characters have proven the effect of the proposed augmentation in terms of highly intuitive segmentation as well as recognition performance and 13.2% error rate reduction.

Northeast Asian relations have been dominated by competitions rather than cooperation. Nevertheless, since the end of the Cold War, interchanges among South Korea, China, and Japan's local governments have been increasing rapidly. Why local governments of the three Northeast Asian states have maintained constant exchanges despite the sluggish cooperation of their central governments? What effects and limitations of exchanges among local governments in Northeast Asia on regional peace? The results of research show that effects of Northeast Asian local governments on regional peace is complicated. The study indicated that the local governments' exchanges had certain limitations in constructing the regional peace as an independent factor. However, it is also certain that the local governments' exchanges have contributed to the Northeast Asian peace, to some extent, by playing a complementary role in maintaining cooperation in local level.

Online retail is a growing opportunity for retailers and consumers. Cross-buying provides companies with an opportunity to increase their revenue contributions from existing consumers. In many fields, especially in the service sector, cross-selling is an easier strategy to use relative to increasing revenue rather than acquiring new consumers. Website personalization has been a powerful indispensable tool for web-based companies and end users. Using the Mehrabian and Russell's Stimulus-Organism-Response framework, we experimentally examined how an online retailing merchant's environmental stimuli (S) arouses internal affective and cognitive states (O), that affect consumers' approach-avoidance behavior (R) in cross-buying and shopping cart abandonment in online transactions.

This study aimed to investigate types of emotional experiences that college students undergo, particularly those affecting learning motivation and academic performance. To this end, six college students residing in Seoul, South Korea participated in a series of 'focus-group interview (FGI)' sessions in which in-depths discussions took place. The researcher attempted to draw the participant students' opinions and ideas as they made interactions with each other. Three participants were placed in each of two groups, and each group had approximately 90-minutes-long sessions. The results showed that positive emotions, such as joy and enthusiasm, can increase learning motivation and academic achievement, while negative emotions such as anxiety and stress can hinder them. The findings also highlight that students actively employ coping strategies to manage negative emotions. Moreover, the study underscores students' desire for improved emotional support from instructors, indicating a gap between their expectations and the actual emotional care provided in educational settings. Relevant issues are discussed for future suggestions.
