  • The purpose of the present study is to build a model to determine the structure of long-term quasi-optimal rates of local and toll telephone services. The outline of this study is as follows : Telephone business, providing social goods, is capital-intensive industry which needs huge fixed cost to operate exchanges and telephone networks nationwide. The nature of above industry justifies the market structure of telephone business to be natural monopoly and makes a good reason for government's direct regulation, that is, price regulation. Three is a gap between the present rates and the quasi-optimal ones because some administrative processes intervene in rate making process before execution. On the above diagnostic basis, the present study made an empirical test for the optimality of present rates structure in connection with Ramsey-Boiteux model to maximize the sum of producer's and consumer's surplus and also the current study proposed a qusasi-optimal rates structure for better market performance. From the empirical analysis, we can deduce a policy recommendation the local price should be increased to 47% whereas toll price decreased to 24% in order to improve the net welfare worth of 32.6 billion won.

  • Economists have advocated that the privatization and market competitiveness improve the firm's productivity and eventually its service quality. However, the previous researches did not provide the empirical results enough to prove that the privatization and competitiveness do improve the service quality. In this paper, we conducted an empirical research to find whether the privatization and competition induces the quality of service. The mobile telecommunication industry was chosen since it went through bringing the privatization and increasing the competition along with a high attention. We found that the privatization and competition itself does not guarantee the quality of mobile telecommunication service. It is the intensity of competition that improves the mobile telecommunication service quality. The service quality depends mainly on the competitor's competence, i.e. the intensity of competition rather than the competition itself. In sum, when we want to improve the service quality as well as the productivity, we had better increase the intensity of competition by allowing many new strong entries.

  • The notion of technological adoption such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been examined in various domains such as supply chain management, inventory management and health care. However, there are several unanswered questions surrounding how this technology is adopted in disaster management. This study attempts to explore the potential of RFID in disaster management. The notion of Task-Technology Fit (TTF) is deemed suitable for this purpose and thus used as the theoretical framework that is further validated by employing multiple case studies. The empirical findings indicate that there are six key factors influencing the decision to adopt RFID in disaster management. Some relate to aspects of RFID when it is put into practice, namely cost, compatibility, standardisation, implementation and locatability; while the other key factor relates to privacy and security aspect of information. It is hoped that the findings of this research will inform disaster management organizations to better plan the adoption of RFID for their operations.

  • Recently, Internet banking becomes a major trend in the financial marketplace. However, there are few researches to investigate relationship between factors influencing user's intention to use the Internet banking service. Therefore, this paper is aimed at analyzing the Internet banking service user's intention to use empirically. Our research framework is basically based on TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) proposed by Davis(1989). Empirical results using path analysis revealed that experience has a direct relationship with intention to use, while those three factors like perceived risk, self-efficacy, technical support indirectly affect intention to use.

  • A physical and numerical steady flow impinging jet has been used to simulate the bulk characteristics of a downburst-like wind field. The influence of downdraft tilt and surface roughness on the ensuing wall jet flow has been investigated. It was found that a simulated downdraft impinging the surface at a non-normal angle has the potential for causing larger structural loads than the normal impingement case. It was also found that for the current impinging jet simulations, surface roughness played a minor role in determining the storm maximum wind structure, but this influence increased as the wall jet diverged. However, through comparison with previous research it was found that the influence of surface roughness is Reynolds number dependent and therefore may differ from that reported herein for full-scale downburst cases. Using the current experimental results an empirical model has been developed for laboratory-scale impinging jet velocity structure that includes the influence of both jet tilt and surface roughness.

  • Consumers experience various emotional responses to clothing in consumption process. These emotional responses are important in explaining consumer behavior of clothing. The Purpose of the study was to identify the types of emotion that consumers experience in the process of wearing clothes. A questionnaire consisted of 35 words expressing emotion was developed. 110 female college students were surveyed to find out consumption experience of clothing. The empirical study was conducted in two ways. One is that the subjects were asked to respond six-point unipolar scale of emotional adjectives to identify the various emotions that consumers experienced. The other is that four different wearing situations were described for the survey and then the subjects were asked to respond same questionnaire. The data surveyed for research were analyzed by factor analysis. The conclusion of empirical study was as follows. The types of emotion that consumers experienced at various situstions were: pleasure, arousal, unpleasure, aversion, dominance, sandness, security and tension.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the market segments of Chinese dining-out customers based on their lifestyle. This study focused on the selection and consumption behavior of dining-out customers. The subjects of this study were 20 years old or older diners in Luoyang, China, and the data were collected for 11 days from April 5, 2016. 400 questionnaires were distributed, and 390 copies were collected. After excluding 9 inadequate questionnaires, 381 responses were used for data analysis by using IBM SPSS 23.0, and Data analysis included frequency analysis, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, and cross tabulation. The results of empirical analysis showed that there was a significant difference in selection attributes, consumption behavior and demographic characteristics in terms of lifestyle market segments.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate as individuals how and why to accept web storage service. Using the Technology Adoption Model2 (TAM2) as methodological framework, this research tries to experiment an empirical background on the acceptance of behavioral changes of an individual sa to information technological advances. The findings of this study are different from TAM2 in terms of job relevance and output quality. However, according to other elements of TAM2 such as result demonstrability, subjective norm, image, this srudy also confirms positive relationships toward technological acceptance. Especially, subjective norms shows the strongest influential factors when adopting technological changes.

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of mentoring functions (career development, role modeling, and psychosocial function) on the motivation to adopt knowledge and the success of knowledge transfer in formal mentoring relations. There are considerable empirical investigation into the antecedents and consequences of mentoring, such as organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behavior, job satisfaction, In this paper, based on the relevant literatures, hypotheses are established and empirically tested that are about the effect of mentoring functions on the motivation to adopt knowledge, and the effect of motivation to adopt knowledge on the success of knowledge transfer. Using a sample of 287 service industry employees, the empirical results shows that career development and role modeling functions ware positively related to motivation to adopt knowledge, but psychosocial function was not significantly related. In addition, the motivation to adopt knowledge was positively related to the success of knowledge transfer. Based on these findings, implication and future direction are discussed.
