Analysis of Preference in Plant Fragrances and Psychological Evaluation of Firefighter

  • Background and objective: This study was carried out to investigate and analyze the preference for plant fragrance and the psychological effects of a agro-healing activity in 101 firefighters aged 39.71 ± 10.94. Methods: For the psychological evaluation, post-traumatic stress symptoms, Korean occupational stress scale short form (KOSS-SF), emotional intelligence, and job satisfaction were surveyed on the Likert scale. For the preference for plant fragrances, 20 ㎕ of commercially available essential oils from four plant species (Mentha spp., Lavandula spp., Citrus limon, C. sinensis) were absorbed into each test paper and provided to the participants. Results: The rate of post-traumatic stress symptoms was high at 37.6% of the firefighters surveyed.. C. limon fragrance had the highest preference among the four plant fragrances, followed by C. sinensis > Mentha spp. > Lavandula spp. with statistically significant difference (F = 14.256, p < .001). The lower their age, income, and position, and higher the education level, the higher the preference for plant fragrances. And the administrative group had higher preference for plant fragrances than field group. In addition, as a result of examining the correlation between job satisfaction, preference for plant fragrance, post-traumatic stress, emotional intelligence, and job stress for fire-fighters, the higher the job satisfaction, the higher the fragrance preference and emotional intelligence, and the lower the post-traumatic stress and job stress. Conclusion: Therefore, installing a garden using botanical fragrances at workplaces that firefighters can easily access will improve job satisfaction and relieve stress. It can be concluded that applying the fragrance of plants to the healing farming activities at the fire-fighter's workplace can increase the usefulness of the healing activities.

Vocational Preference Inventory of Korean College Students with Symptoms of Temporomandibular Disorders

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the association of vocational interest and personality with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Methods: Four hundred and fourteen college students in Gyeonggi-do completed Vocational Preference Inventory L form and a questionnaire and collected data were analyzed by R program. Results: The percentage of subjects who responded that they had at least one contributing factor for TMD was significantly different among 27 two-letter Holland codes (p<0.05). The two-letter Holland codes of which the first-letter was social (S) (S artistic [A], S investigative [I], S realistic [R], S conventional [C], S enterprising [E]) or C (CE, CS, CA, CI) had tendency of having the relatively higher prevalence of symptoms and contributing factors for TMD. Among 6 one-letter Holland codes, the prevalence of a symptom of frequent fatigue in the jaw and a habit of gum chewing showed the significant difference (p<0.05). E code seemed to have lower prevalence of a symptom of frequent fatigue in the jaw than other codes. S code appeared to use chewing gum more frequently than other codes. High scorers on emotional instability showed the significantly higher prevalence of TMD symptoms (p<0.05) and contributing factors for TMD (p<0.001) than low scorers. Furthermore, high scorers on emotional instability had significantly higher mean scales of the number of positive answers of TMD symptoms (p<0.01) and of contributing factors for TMD (p<0.001) than low scorers. Conclusions: Symptoms and contributing factors for TMD were related to emotional instability. Vocational Preference Inventory L form might be utilized in assessing emotional factors of persons with TMD symptoms.

사회적 배제와 따뜻한 향 선호 (Social Exclusion and Preference for Odors Perceived to be Emotionally Warm)

  • 본 연구는 사회적 배제가 물리적 따뜻함을 추구하게 만든다는 선행연구에 기초하여 사회적 배제가 감성적 따뜻함을 추구하게 만들고, 감성적 차가움을 회피하게 만들 것이라는 예측을 향 감성을 사용하여 검증하기 위해 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 차가운 감성으로 지각되는 향과 따뜻한 감성으로 지각되는 향을 선정하기 위한 사전조사를 실시한 후, 사회적 배제를 지각한 집단과 통제 집단의 향 선호도에 차이가 있는지 확인하기 위한 두 가지 실험을 진행하였다. 결과적으로 사회적 배제를 경험한 사람은 그렇지 않은 사람보다 따뜻한 향에 대한 선호가 강한 반면, 차가운 향에 대한 선호는 약했다. 본 연구는 사회적 배제가 물리적 따뜻함을 추구하게 만드는 현상을 감성적 차원으로 확장했다는 측면과 선행연구에서 간과해 왔던 차가움을 회피하게 하는 현상까지 관찰했다는 측면에서 이론적으로 중요하다. 또한 컴포트 푸드, 인물 감성, 공간 감성 디자인, 인공지능 채팅봇의 감성 등에도 실용적 시사점을 가진다.

한국과 베트남 소비자의 지각된 가치가 베이커리 브랜드 선호도와 구매의도에 미치는 영향 (Perceived Value Effects on Global Brand Preference and Purchase Intention in Bakeries: Korean and Vietnamese Consumers)

  • Purpose - This study aims to suggest strategies for Korean enterprises advancing into the Vietnam bakery market by analyzing the effects of perceived values on brand preference and purchase intention among Korean and Vietnamese consumers. Research design, data, and methodology - The perceived value model designed includes functional (price, quality), emotional, and social values. The survey collected data from 500 consumers in Seoul (Korea) and HoChiMinh (Vietnam). The SPSS 18.0 package was used for analysis. Results - First, among Vietnamese consumers, perceived value had a positive (+) effect on global brand preference in the order of functional value of quality, social value, and the functional value of price. However, from an ethnocentric trend and brand image origin, emotional value had a negative effect on global brand preference. In contrast, among Korean consumers, perceived value had a positive (+) effect on global brand preference in the order of functional value of quality, the functional value of price, and the social value. However, emotional value had no effect on global brand preference. Second, for both Korean and Vietnamese consumers, perceived value had a significant positive effect on purchase intention. Third, unlike the Korean consumer, for the Vietnamese consumer, global brand preference had a significant effect on purchase intention. Conclusions - The study implies the following. First, the Vietnamese bakery market has a high proportion of middle-aged customers in their 40s (64%). In terms of monthly income, there was a large proportion (40%) of high-income earners (over $325). Therefore, bakery consumption can be seen as concentrated among middle-aged and high-income consumers. Based on this, bakery strategies should include efforts to increase purchase prices as well as ways to attract local consumers (large cities). Second, unlike Korean consumers, among Vietnamese consumers, the resistance to a global brand based on emotional value (the ethnocentric tendency and brand image origin) can be seen as relatively low. Thus, in the case of the Vietnam bakery market, to increase a global brand's preference, the company should develop a differentiated strategy so that Vietnamese consumers can recognize it better, focusing on product quality, good service quality, and price in the local environment and on social value for social development. Third, in the case of the Vietnamese customer, we found that social value exerts the greatest influence on purchase intention. Therefore, a brand that engenders an image of building the local Vietnamese community can achieve a higher social value and influence purchase intention. In addition, although Vietnamese consumers have ethnocentric tendencies in terms of products, we found that if it is a preferred global brand then there are intentions to purchase. Fourth, in the case of Vietnam, if the preference for global brands is formed, consumer awareness may be connected to purchase intention. Therefore, global brands operating in Vietnam should pay attention to how to improve consumer preferences for global brands in order to increase purchase intention.

건축파사드 LED칼라의 감성평가모형 연구 (A Study on the Emotional Evaluation Model of LED Colors in Architectural Pacade)

  • The purpose of this study is to draw emotional evaluation model related to LED lighting colors and suggest basic informations that enable planned directions of architectural pacade lighting to simulate beforehand in a laboratory. As experimental methods, extracted PAD emotional evaluation model and then directed a experimental model of 10 LED lighting colors, studied and analyzed survey questions. The results are as follows; First, in the case of P(Pleasure-Unpleasure), Red, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Magenta, White and Combination of $G{\leftrightarrow}B$ Colors are satisfying, vibrant and positive distribution chart has shown. Second, in the case of A(Arousal-Unarousal), Red, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, White and Combinations of $R{\leftrightarrow}G$, $G{\leftrightarrow}B$, $R{\leftrightarrow}B$ Colors, it makes a little difference, they have shown useful distribution chart to induce sight in a aroused state. Third, in the case of D(Dominance-Submissiveness), Red, Cyan, Green and Combinations of $G{\leftrightarrow}B$ Colors are free, controlling and extent of effect was excellent. On the contrary, in the case of Yellow and Magenta and Combinations of $R{\leftrightarrow}B$, they are gentle and arouse the protective instinct or feminine distribution chart has shown. Fourth, it showed difference of preference that difference of select ratios of both men and women in Orange, Blue, Greenish-Yellow (preference of man) and Magenta, Combinations of $R{\leftrightarrow}B$ Colors(preference of woman).

가방용 3D 입체패턴 디자인 자카드 직물 개발과 감성구조 (Development and Sensory Evaluation of Jacquard Fabrics with Three Dimensional Pattern Design for Bag)

  • This study was developed using the DTP (digital textile printing) jacquard fabrics with a three-dimensional pattern for bag and evaluated the preference and emotional structure. The following conclusions were obtained. Three-dimensional patterns of 12 species using the illustrator program, including six kinds of designs based on the text and six kinds of character types based on the geometry of the basic design was developed. As a result of evaluating the preference of the three-dimensional pattern jacquard fabric, the most preferred fabric was a three-dimensional patterned jacquard fabric with a motif of the Korean consonant "ㅅ". The results of analyzing the emotional dimension of the three-dimensional pattern jacquard fabric, eight factors including simple image, feminine image, exotic image, graphic image, sporty image, masculine image, dynamic image and stereoscopic image were derived. Between emotional factors and preferences correlation analysis showed the stronger the simple image, the feminine image, and the sporty image, the more preferable. It suggested the possibility of a morphological and new fabric for bag, textile design motifs by using Hangul consonants attempt to limit the flatness of the existing geometric form patterns that can be applied to three-dimensional bag whether swirly patterns overcome.

감성마케팅을 적용한 홍보전시관 디자인에 관한 연구 -수도권 G지역 종합 홍보전시관과 D지역 뉴타운 홍보전시관을 중심으로- (A Study on Public Exhibition applied Emotional Marketing - Focused on Public Exhibition Proposals of the G Environment Improvement Project and D New Town -)

  • The purpose of this study was verified the effect of analyzed emotional factors and compare with competed design proposals of G and D public exhibition to plan the public exhibition applied emotional marketing which strengthen the effect with touching the emotion. The results are first, public consumer preferred to experience 5 senses and gives a positive effect, second, preference according to factor of scene gives differences by ages, but various ages preferred to experience the factor of scene, third the result of analyze the relation between preference of scene and 3 groups of 5 senses, which is high, middle, and low preferred had significant relation, and fourth, public consumer preferred to several levels of exhibition than only one level, the space preferred was 'experiencing' space.

  • 본 연구는 스마트폰 제품디자인에서 감성공학 요소가 브랜드 선호도와 충성도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 한다. 감성공학 요소를 색상, 성능, 사용성, 가치, 신뢰성으로 나누고, 브랜드 선호도와 충성도의 관련성을 분석한다. 소비자들의 어떤 감성공학 요소가 브랜드 선호도와 충성도에 영향을 미치는가를 고찰하기 위해 연구의 목적을 두고 연구하였다. 연구결과를 통해 제품디자인의 감성공학 요소가 마케팅 전략 수립에 유용한 자료로 활용되어 소비자 감성 심리를 판단하는 데 기초자료로 사용되고자 한다.

초등학교 6학년 아동의 식사행동 및 식품기호와 성격특성 (Dietary Behaviors, Food Preferences and Its Relationships with Personality Traits in Sixth Grader′s of Elementary School)

  • Although many studies have focused on dietary habits and behaviors among children, few have looked at individual dietary behaviors and food preferences and their relationships with personality traits. This study examined the relationships between children's dietary behaviors, food preferences and personality traits using a random sample of 236 sixth graders in Chuncheon. Results showed a high prevalence of undesirable dietary behaviors among children: 42.8% of the children had skipped breakfast at least twice a week, 53% had overeaten, 45.8% had eaten irregularly, and 66.5% had eaten an unbalanced meal. These undesirable dietary behaviors were negatively associated with such personality traits as sociability, responsibility, emotional stability, activity, and superiority. When asked about food preference, fruits were most popular while vegetables were least desirable. Total food preference scores were positively correlated with emotional stability (r=.204), activeness (r=.247), sociability (r=.156), responsibility (r=.249), and superiority (r=.133). Preference for meats had negative correlations with responsibility (r=-.133), sociability (r=-.146), and superiority (r=-.132), while preference for vegetables was positively correlated with these personality traits (r=.292, .244, and .230, respectively). In conclusion, the more desirable dietary behaviors and the higher total food preference scores, the more positive the child's personality traits. In addition, preference for vegetables was associated with positive personality traits. The findings suggest the need for continuous attention and guidance on desirable dietary habits for school children both at home and at school.

스마트 의류 상품 기획을 위한 감성 효과 분석 (An Analysis of Consumer Emotion for Product Planning of Smart Clothing)

  • 기본 연구의 목적은 스마트 의류에 대한 감성 요인을 분석하여 종래 의류와의 감성 차이를 비교하고 제품과 의류 간의 융합으로 인한 소비자 감성의 변화를 고찰하는 한편 스마트 의류와 종래의 의류 간의 선호도 및 구매의사 차이에 대해 조사함으로써 소비자 감성을 만족시키는 소비자 중심의 스마트 의류 디자인 및 애플리케이션 개발을 위한 상품기획 방안의 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 연구 결과 스마트 의류에 대한 감성 요인은 총 6개의 요인으로, '테크니컬한', '컴포트한', '심미적인', '모던한', '펀', '복합적인' 감성 요인으로 분석되었는데, 이 중 '컴포트한'을 제외한 5개의 감성 요인에서 종래의 스포츠, 캐쥬얼 의류와 스마트 의류 간에 유의미한 감성 차이를 보였다. 또한 스마트 의류와 종래 의류 간에 선호도는 스마트 의류가 약간 높았던 반면, 구매의사는 종래의 의류보다 스마트 의류가 더 낮은 것으로 나타나 선호도가 소비자의 즉각적인 구매로 연결되는 것은 아니며 좀 더 다양화된 애플리케이션의 스마트 의류 개발과 상품화 전략이 요구되는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 스마트 의류 개발 및 상품화에 관한 자유 응답식 설문 분석 결과 소비자들은 심박, 심전도 등을 측정할 수 있는 헬스케어용 스마트 의류 뿐 아니라 신체 동작으로부터의 에너지 수확 기능, 발열과 발한 기능, 운동량 측정 및 칼로리 소모등 다이어트에 도움을 주는 스마트 의류 개발에도 관심이 많은 것으로 나타났으므로 이러한 소비자의 요구를 반영하여 향후 스마트 의류의 개발 지침으로 활용해야 할 것이다.
