The main purpose of this study was to examine the direct and indirect effects of maternal meta-emotion on preschoolers' emotional intelligence through mothers' emotion socialization. A total of 252 preschool-aged children and their mothers residing in the Seoul Metropolitan and Gyeonggi-do areas participated in this study. The mothers completed questionnaires regarding their meta-emotion, emotion socialization and preschoolers' emotional intelligence. The results of the study indicated that maternal meta-emotion did not have a direct effect on preschoolers' emotional intelligence. However, maternal meta-emotion did indeed have an indirect effect on preschoolers' emotional intelligence through emotion socialization styles. That is, mothers who had desirable beliefs about emotions provided supportive reactions to children's negative emotion expression and showed positive emotions more frequently in the family. In addition, the preschoolers of mothers who showed positive emotion socialization styles were reported to be more emotionally intelligent. The findings of this study suggest that maternal meta-emotion and emotion socialization are important in predicting preschoolers' emotional intelligence.

Purpose : This study was carried out to find out the relationship between emotion intelligence, learning flow and career stress of nursing students and influence factors for career stress. Methods : This study targeted 197 university students in their freshman-senior year attending College of Nursing located in P Metropolitan City. For collected data, real numbers and percentage, mean and standard deviation and multiple regression analysis were carried out by using PASW 21.0 program and the correlation between emotion intelligence, learning flow and career stress was analyzed with Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results : Emotional self-awareness(M=3.80, SD =.71), clear goals(M=3.39, SD=.90) and school environment stress(M=2.97, SD=.96) were found to be high in the degree of emotion intelligence, learning flow and career stress of the subjects. The relationship between emotion intelligence and learning flow showed a positive correlation(r=.489, p<.01) in the correlation between emotion intelligence, learning flow, career stress and emotion intelligence showed a negative correlation with career stress(r=-.204, p<.01). Emotion intelligence and learning flow show that career stress is predicted significantly (${\beta}$ =-.15, p < .01) and explained a career stress variate as 18%(F = 24.5, p < .01). Conclusion : Emotion intelligence of nursing students was found to be very influential on the degree of learning flow or career stress. Based on the results of this study, replication studies on emotion intelligence and career stress are needed and the development of intervention programs to increase emotion intelligence is needed.
A new research paradigm is emerging within organizational behavior, in both theory and empiricism, based on the increasing recognition of the importance of emotions to organizational life. This paper suggest that emotion intelligence play a moderate variables in relationship of emotion labor and emotional exhaustion. More specifically, it is proposed that emotional intelligence, the ability to understand and manage emotions in the employee self and others, contribute to effective emotions management in organizations. Four major aspects of emotion labor, appraisal and expression of emotion in oneself, appraisal and recognition of emotion in others, regulation of emotion in oneself and use of emotion to facilitate performance, are described. Also, the emotional intelligence are consists of four aspects, frequency of appropriate emotional display, attentiveness to required displayed rules, variety of emotions to be displayed and emotional dissonance. Then I propose how emotional intelligence contributes to of relations the emotion labor and emotional exhaustion. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of emotion labor to employee's emotional exhaustion to explore the moderating effects of the emotional intelligence between the emotion labor and emotional exhaustion. To complete the research the data were collected through a questionnaire from 147 employees from service company. After multi-hierarchical regression analysis, the outcomes of this study are the employee's emotional exhaustion are affected negatively by the three factors: major aspects of emotion labor, regulation of emotion in oneself, use of emotion to facilitate performance, make the moderation effect between emotion labor and emotional intelligence. These results indicate that instilling in others an appreciation of the importance of work activities: encouraging of true expression individual emotions, generating and maintaining well emotional climate and cooperation situations, and managing a meaningful environment for an organizational life.
This investigation of developmental trends in children's emotional intelligence used the Emotional Intelligence Rating Scale for Preschool Children(Kim, 1998) to study 973 children. Significant age differences were found in 5 factors: 'utilization of emotion', 'regulation of emotion', 'handling of relationship between child and teacher' and 'handling of relationship with peers'. Children's emotional intelligence scores increased with age in 3 factors: 'utilization of emotion', 'empathy', and 'regulation of emotion'. Sex differences were found in 5 factors: 'utilization of emotion', 'empathy', 'appraisal and expression of self emotion', 'regulation of emotion', and 'handling of relationship between child and teacher'. In all factors, the scores of girls were higher than those the scores of boys.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between child care teachers' emotional intelligence, communicative competence, and job stress. Methods: Four hundred and fifty child care teachers answered questionnaires on three research variables. Data were analyzed by correlation analyses and regression analyses. Results: First, child care teachers' emotional intelligence, i.e. self-emotion appraisal, others' emotion appraisal, uses of emotion, and regulation of emotion, were negatively related to job stress. Second, child care teachers' emotional intelligence, i.e. self-emotion appraisal, others' emotion appraisal, uses of emotion, and regulation of emotion, were positively associated with communicative competence. Third, child care teachers' communicative competence was negatively linked to job stress. Lastly, child care teachers' communicative competence partially mediated the relationship between self-emotion appraisal, others' emotion appraisal, regulation of emotion, and job stress, and child care teachers' communicative competence fully mediated the relationship between uses of emotion and job stress. Conclusion/Implications: This study suggests that high emotional intelligence and effective communication are important in order to reduce child care teachers' job stress.
Intelligence is thought to be related to interaction rather than a deep but passive thinking. Interactive tangible media "iT_Media" is proposed to explore these issues. Personal robotics is a major area to investigate these ideas. A new design methodology for personal and emotional robotics is proposed. Sciences of the artificial and intelligence have been investigated. A short history of artificial intelligence is presented in terms of logic, heuristic, and mobility; a science of intelligence is presented in terms of imitation and understanding; intelligence issues for robotics and intelligence measures are described. A design methodology for personal robots based on science of emotion is investigated. We investigate three different aspects of design: visceral, behavioral, reflective. We also discuss affect and emotion in robots, robots that sense emotion, robots that induce emotion in people, and implications and ethical issues of emotional robots. Personal robotics for the elderly seems to be a major area in which to explore these ideas.
This study examines child emotional intelligence in relation to mother's emotional expressiveness and reaction to child negative emotions. A sample of 352 children and mothers from 4 elementary schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi participated in the study. Child emotional intelligence and mother's reaction to child negative emotions were evaluated by child-report, and mother's emotional expressiveness was assessed by mother-report. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, two-way analysis of variances, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analyses. The findings were as follows. First, mothers of boys showed more oversensitive-reaction to child negative emotions than mothers of girls. Mothers of 6th-graders showed more emotion-minimizin-greaction to child negative emotions than mothers of 5th-graders. Second, girls showed a higher level of overall emotional intelligence than boys. Girls showed a higher level of emotion expression and emotion regulation than boys. The 5th-graders showed higher level of emotion expression than 6th-graders; however, 6th graders showed a higher level of emotion perception than 5th-graders. Third, more emotion-coaching-reaction and less oversensitive-reaction by mothers predicted a better emotional intelligence of children. A mother's appropriate emotional socialization behaviors associated with child emotional intelligence were discussed.

This study would review how important to define emotional intelligence could be in measuring individual differences in emotional experience. For this purpose, the definitions of emotion, built by psychological theorists, would first reviewed, in connection to the newly developed techniques in the area of emotional engineering. Comparing peripheral theories of emotion and cognitive appraisal theories, the multi-facets of emotional experience would be illustrated and it would discussed what these facets mean to predict emotional health of individuals.
The study examined the pathways from maternal reactions to children's negative emotions to children's emotion intelligence through children's resilience by gender. The participants in this study comprised 413 elementary school 4th-6th graders (of which 214 were boys, and 199 were girls). They completed questionnaires on maternal reactions to children's negative emotions, children's resilience and levels of children's emotional intelligence. Data were analyzed by means of T-test and structural equation modeling. In the case of the male group, it was found that maternal emotion coaching, when done indirectly, but not directly, had an influence on their levels of emotional intelligence. On the other hand, in the case of the female group, it was found that emotion coaching, when done indirectly, as well as directly, had an influence on their levels of emotional intelligence. Therefore, these results indicate that children's resilience mediated the effects of maternal emotion coaching on emotional intelligence. It also found that there are distinct pathways from maternal reactions to children's negative emotions to emotion intelligence through resilience by gender.
Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees.
