유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅을 위한 센서 디바이스 Plug & Play (Sensor Device Plug & Play for Ubiquitous Computing)

  • When mounting the sensor device in the way of Plug&Play, sensor device drivers need to be loaded and linked dynamically. Since a sensor node platform is based on small 8 bit MCU, dynamic loading and linking technique used in Windows and Linux can not be applied. In this paper, we present how to link and load dynamically sensor device drivers for sensor device Plug&Play. We implement a prototype and evaluate it to make sure that there is no performance degradation like sensor device driver connection speed and memory usage. Connection speed overhead increases to 0.2ms. Memory usage overhead increases to hundreds byte. It shows that there is no heavy influence in running the actual program.

PS 긴장재 긴장력 계측을 위한 PSC 거더 내부 매립용 EM 센서 (Embedded EM Sensor for Tensile Force Estimation of PS tendon of PSC Girder)

  • 본 논문에서는 PSC 거더 내부 긴장재의 Prestress 변화를 계측하고, 그 손실을 관리하기 위하여 PSC 거더 내부에 매립이 가능한 매립형 EM 센서를 연구 및 제작하였다. 현재까지의 PSC 내부 긴장재의 긴장력 손실관리는 시공 시 설계 긴장력 도입 여부 검증에 머물러 있으며, 시공 후에는 관리가 제대로 이루어지고 있지 않다. 이에 본 논문에서는 강자성체에 자기장이 작용하면 비투자율인 강자성체 고유의 특성이 변화한다는 탄성-자기 이론을 기초로, PSC 거더의 정착구와 쉬스관 외관의 특성을 반영하여 PSC 거더 내부에 매립이 가능한 매립형 EM 센서를 설계하여 제작하였다. 제작 후에는 그 성능을 검증하기 위하여 소형 PSC 거더 모형에 제작된 매립형 EM 센서를 설치한 후 콘크리트를 타설하였다. 양생이 종료된 후 7가닥의 PS 텐던을 삽입한 후 텐던에 200, 710, 1070, 1300kN의 긴장력을 도입하면서 매립형 EM센서를 통해 비투자율의 변화를 계측하였다. 계측 결과 도입한 긴장력이 커질수록 PS 텐던의 비투자율이 낮아지는 변화가 있음을 확인하였으며, 도입 긴장력에 따른 투자율이 도입 긴장력을 충분히 추정할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안한 매립형 EM 센서는 PSC 교량 내부로 매립이 가능함을 확인하였으며 매립형 EM 센서를 통한 비투자율 변화 계측을 통하여 PS 텐던의 긴장력 변화를 추정할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

웹 환경에서 임베디드 시스템을 이용한 VOC센서 원격 신호 모니터링 시스템 개발 (Developing of VOC sensor Signal Processing System using Embedded System on the Web Environment)

  • 디지털 기술의 눈부신 발전과 인터넷 서비스의 다양화로 인하여 USN 시스템에서 임베디드 웹서버를 이용한 모니터링 시스템에 관한 연구가 활성화 되고 있는 추세이다. USN 시스템 구성 시 무선센서 모듈들을 사용할 경우 센서를 정상적으로 동작시키기 위해 히팅 전력이 필요한 센서에서는 과도한 전력 소모에 의해 효율적이지 못하다. 본 연구에서는 웹 환경에서 임베디드 시스템을 이용한 VOC 센서 신호 원격 모니터링 시스템개발을 목적으로 USN 시스템에서 센서 모듈들로부터 직렬버스 방식으로 오염 데이터 스트림을 처리하는 방법을 제안하였다. 센서 모듈의 전력을 직렬버스 라인과 함께 전력을 공급하도록 반연구적으로 실시간 적인 오염 감시를 할 수 있는 장점을 보유하고 있다. 오염 검출 대상은 페인트와 같은 화학물질에서 다량 검출되는 Toluene가스를 대상으로 하였으며 센서 모듈은 FIGARO사의 TGS-2602 VOC(Volatile Organic Compounds)센서로 구성하고 검출된 신호는 직렬버스 방식인 RS-485를 이용하여 임베디드 웹서버로 전송하였다. 검출된 신호는 사용자가 웹상에서 실시간으로 모니터링 할 수 있도록 하기위하여 VOC 센서 모듈과 임베디드 웹서버(EMPOS-II)를 연동하여 인터넷이 연결되어 있는 어느 곳에서나 유해 물질 검출 여부를 모니터링하고 감시할 수 있는 원격 VOC 센서 신호 모니터링 시스템을 구성하였다.

실측 데이터 기반 모션센서 에뮬레이터의 개발 (Development of Real-Data Motion Sensor Emulator)

  • This paper describes the development of an open source motion sensor emulator. It helps developers to understand the motion sensor and its data better. Through this emulator, the realtime or stored motion sensor data can be applied to the applications that utilize motion sensors. The data of motion sensors which include accelerometer sensor, magnetic field sensor, gyro sensor, GPS, and so on, can be collected by using smart phones or motion sensors. We also describe a visualizer which shows various graphs, video and 3D animations based on the data sent by the emulator. It helps developers to understand motion sensors and how to use the sensors. The developed emulator is compatible with Android sensor simulator.

  • There are many researches to build up ubiquitous environment by the Ubiquitous Sensor Network(USN). These applications, such as home network, health care, natural environment and agricultural areas, are implemented by an embedded system. Their fields are gradually spreading. However the power consumption in its implementation plays an important role on the surrounding environment of the wireless network. In this paper, we design low power processor based sensor node platform for agricultural applications. We also compare its some performance with existing products.

  • We have designed embedded web sewer system and ported Linux operating system version 2.4.5 at our system. And then We implemented to control and monitor widely separated hardware and implemented to monitor widely separated image using CMOS image sensor HV7131B. Web server is the Boa web server with General Public License. We designed for this system using of Intel's SA1110 ARM core base processor and connecting input and output device at GPIO port of SA1110. Device driver of General purpose I/O for Embedded Linux OS is designed. And then the application program controlling driver is implemented to use of common gate interface C language. User is available to control and monitor at client PC. This method have benefit to reduce the Expenditure of hardware design and development time against PC base system and have various and capacious application against firmware base system.

  • Wireless Sensor Network(WSNs) consists of small sensor nodes with sensing, computation, and wireless communication capabilities. The large number of sensor nodes in a WSN means that there will often be some nodes which give erroneous sensor data owing to several reasons such as power shortage and transmission error. Generally, these sensor data are gathered by a sink node to monitor and diagnose the current environment. Therefore, this can make it difficult to get an effective monitoring and diagnosis. In this paper, to overcome the aforementioned problems, intelligent sensor data validation method based on PCA(Principle Component Analysis) is utilized. Furthermore, a practical implementation using embedded system is given to show the feasibility of the proposed scheme.

  • Conventional piezoelectric lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) senor has high sensitivity, but it is very brittle. Recently polymer films such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) have been used use as a sensor. The advantages of PVDF are the flexibility and mechanical toughness. Simple process and possible several shapes are also additional advantages. PVDF sensor can be directly embedded and attached to a structure. In this study, PVDF sensor was embedded in single glass fiber/epoxy composites whereas PZT sensor with AE was attached to single fiber composites (SFC). Piezoelectric sensor responds to interfacial damage of SFC. The signals measured by PVDF sensor were compared to PZT sensor. PZT sensor detected the signals of fiber fracture, matrix crack, interfacial debonding and even sensor delamination, whereas PVDF sensor only detected fiber fracture signals so far, because PZT sensor is much more sensitive than current PVDF sensor. Wave voltage of fiber fracture measured by PVDF sensor was lower than that of PZT sensor, but the results of fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis were same. Wave velocity using two PZT sensors was also studied to know the internal and surface damage effect of epoxy specimens.

Web-based Measurement of ECU Signals on Vehicle using Embedded Linux

  • In this paper, we present a new method for monitoring of ECU's sensor signals of vehicle. In order to measure the ECU's sensor signals, the interfaced circuit is designed to communicate ECU and the Embedded Linux is used to monitor communication result through Web the Embedded Linux system and this system is said "ECU Interface Part". In ECU Interface Part the interface circuit is designed to match voltage level between ECU and SA-1110 micro controller and interface circuit to communicate ECU according to the ISO, SAE communication protocol standard. Because Embedded Linux does not allow to access hardware directly in application level, anyone who wants to modify any low level hardware must develop device driver. To monitor ECU's sensor signals the most important thing is to match serial level between ECU and ECU Interface Part. It means to communicate correctly between two hardware we need to match voltage and signal level, and need to match baudrate. The voltage of SA-1110 is 0 ${\sim}$ +3.3V and ECU is 0 ${\sim}$ +12V and, ECU's communication Line K does multiple operation so, the interface circuit is used to match voltage and signal level. In Addition to ECU's baudrate is 10400bps, it's not standard baudrate in computer environment. So, we need to develop a device driver to control the interface circuit, and change baudrate. To monitor ECU's sensor signals through web there's a network socket program is working in Embedded Linux. It works as server program and manages user's connections and commands. Anyone who wants to monitor ECU's sensor signals he just only connect to Embedded Linux system with web browser then, Embedded Linux webserver will return the ActiveX webbased measurement software. It works in web browser and inits ECU, as a result it returns sensor signals through web. All the programs are developed with GCC(GNU C Compiler) and, webbased measurement software is developed with Borland C++ Builder.

기능 안전성을 위한 대칭형 각도센서 보상기에 기반한 안전한 적응형 전조등 제어기의 설계 (Safe Adaptive Headlight Controller with Symmetric Angle Sensor Compensator for Functional Safety Requirement)

  • AFLS (Adaptive front lighting System) is being applied to improve safety in driving automotive at night. Safe embedded system for controlling head-lamp has to be tightly designed by considering safety requirement of hardware-dependent software, which is embedded in automotive ECU(Electronic Control Unit) hardware under severe environmental noise. In this paper, we propose an adaptive headlight controller with newly-designed symmetric angle sensor compensator, which is integrated with ECU-based adaptive front light system. The proposed system, on which additional backup hardware and emergency control algorithm are integrated, effectively detects abnormal situation and restore safe status of controlling the light-angle in AFLS operations by comparing result in symmetric angle sensor. The controlled angle value is traced into internal memory in runtime and will be continuously compared with the pre-defined lookup table (LUT) with symmetric angle value, which is used in normal operation. The watch-dog concept, which is based on using angle sensor and control-value tracer, enables quick response to restore safe light-controlling state by performing the backup sequence in emergency situation.
