  • In this paper, the effect of device model parameter variation on three-dimensional embedded passive devices was investigated using statistical analysis. The optimized equivalent circuit models for several different structures were obtained from HSPICE simulation. The mean and the standard deviation of model parameters were extracted and the sensitivity analysis for each component was performed. From the analysis, the performance and parametric yield of the devices can be analyzed.

  • In this present study, the corrosion mitigation effect of conifer cone extract (CC) was examined in the cement mortar to improve the steel rebar (SR) corrosion resistance. The corrosion inhibition properties of the SR embedded in cement mortar (CM) admixed with different percentage (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 %) of CC was studied by open circuit potential (OCP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. This result confirms that the CM with 0.5% of CC added has better corrosion resistance than the blank specimen (0 % of CC). Although, the percentage of CC increase above 0.5%, the CC could yield a negative impact on CM properties in terms of reducing the corrosion resistance due to the reduction of cement hydration reaction. It was highlighted that the SR embedded in CM containing 0.5% of CC had increased corrosion resistance.

  • Intelligent Power Switch (IPS) is a semiconductor device which contains a logic circuit in itself. It has received significant attention as a switching component to substitute the fuse and relay components in common automobile since the internal logic provides the controllability on the loads. However, a control system for the IPS status control and a network system to share the status information of IPS are required to fully exploit the capabilities of IPS. In this paper, we propose a control circuit and algorithm using IPS. Also the communication system between the control systems and IPS components using Control Area network (CAN) are proposed.

  • It has become ever harder to design reliable circuits with each nanometer technology node; under normal operation conditions, a transistor device can be affected by various aging effects resulting in performance degradation and eventually design failure. The reliability (aging) effect has traditionally been the area of process engineers. However, in the future, even the smallest of variations can slow down a transistor's switching speed, and an aging device may not perform adequately at a very low voltage. Therefore, circuit designers need to consider these reliability effects in the early stages of design to make sure there are enough margins for circuits to function correctly over their entire lifetime. However, such an approach excessively increases the size and power dissipation of a system. As the impact of reliability, new techniques in designing aging-resilient circuits are necessary to reduce the impact of the aging stresses on performance, power, and yield or to predict the failure of a system. Therefore, in this paper, a novel low power on-chip self-tuning circuit considering the aging effects has been proposed.

  • A conventional power supply to drive a microwave oven has ferro-resonant transformer and high voltage Capacitor(HVC). Though it is simple, transformer is bulky, heavy and has low-efficiency. To improve this defect a high frequency inverter type power supply has been investigated and developed in recent years. But, because of additional control circuit and switching device, inverter-type power supply is more expensive than conventional one. In this study, A new pulse power supply for Microwave Oven using novel HVC embedded high frequency transformer is proposed for down-sizing, cost reduction, and efficiency emprovement of Inverter type power supply. Also, equivalent circuit model is derived by impedance measurements. And the operation of proposed pulse power supply is verified by simulations and experimental results.

  • A compact radio frequency (RF) bandpass filter (BPF) in low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) is suggested for WiMAX applications. The center frequency ($f_0$) of the BPF is 5.5 GHz and its pass band or 3-dB bandwidth is 700 MHz to cover all the three major bands, low and middle unlicensed national information infrastructure (U-NII; 5.15-5.35 GHz), World Radiocommunication Conference (5.47-5.725 GHz), and upper U-NII/industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) (5.725-5.85 GHz), for the WiMAX frequency band. A lumped circuit element design-the 5th order capacitively coupled Chebyshev BPF topology-is adopted. In order to design a compact RF BPF, a very thin ($43.18{\mu}m$) ceramic layer is used in LTCC substrate. An interdigital BPF is also designed in silicon substrate to compare the size and performance of the lumped circuit element BPF. Due to the high relative dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$ = 11.9) of the silicon substrate, the quarter-wavelength resonator of the interdigital BPF can be reduced. In comparison to the 5th order interdigital BPF at $f_0$ = 5.5 GHz, the lumped element design is 24% smaller in volume and has 17 and 7 dB better attenuation characteristics at $f_0{\pm}0.75$ GHz.

  • IDDQ testing is one of current testing methodologies which increases circuit's reliability by means of finding defects which can't be detected by functional testing in CMOS circuits. In this paper, we design a Built-In Current Sensor(BICS) circuit, which can be embedded in chip under test, that performs IDDQ testing. Furthermore, it is designed for IDDQ testing of memories and implemented to carry out testing at high-speed by using small number of transistors.

  • The design, simulation, modeling and measurement of a RF switch module for GSM applications were presented in this paper. switch module were simulated by ADS and constructed using a LTCC multi-layer switching circuit and integrated low pass filter, designed to operate in the GSM band. Insertion and return losses at 900 MHz of the low pass filters were designed to lower than 0.3 dB and higher than 12.7 dB respectively. The switch module constructed, contained 10 embedded passives and 3 surface mounted components integrated on $4.6{\times}4.8{\times}1.2$ m volume, 6-layer integrated circuit. The insertion loss of switch module at m MHz were around 11 dB.
