Due to the belief that housing for university students is uniform materialistic and non-human, a variety of needs and preferences of the residents is becoming more important. In order to more positively identify the user's emotional needs, a design that meets the needs of the resident's living space is absolutely necessary. The purpose of this study is to group the sensibility types of university students, to analyze the preferred interior image and interior design elements, and then to understand the preferred characteristics according to sensibility type. To collect the data, a survey method was used for 224 university students in Seoul and the metropolitan area. The data analysis used SPSS PC 14.0 to find the frequency, t-test, chi-square, factor analysis, and cluster analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, sensibility types were segmented into four groups including 'Unique & Elegant', 'Static & Tidy', 'Warm & Comfortable', and 'Characteristic & Free'. Second, the preferred interior image was the Minimal-Dandy-Natural Image, the preferred floor_material was wood, and the preferred wall_material was marble. Third, there were different interior preferences according to each type of gender & sensibility.

In the 21st century, fashion design trend is focused on 'retro'. 'Retro' is the one of the important trends in this century. In the rapidly changing present, the more people want to find a clue to the hope and happiness from the past nostalgia. Reflecting such people's desire, retro fashion has boomed again from 2000 as one of powerful trends. This research conforms the meaning of retro fashion and characteristic of retro fashion design. And through this processing, it was find that retro fashion design had lost century retro romantic fahion image. Therefore, in this research, the processing about development of retro dress design of retro romantic fashion image was showed by using CAD. The results of this study are as followings. First, Retro fashion is worth the high value of good producr of new and creative for consumers who pursuit tranquil mood in the midist of dailly change Second, Nostalgia and revival of style for each 10 years after 1920's is well brought out in Retro trend of modernt fashion. Also decorative and elegant style are marked by retro romantic fashion mood. Third, fashion design using the computer graphics was presented by application retro romatic image. It is mixed with elegance and modernity based on retro feeling, It is suggested that computer graphics was effectively used in fashion design development to the newly romantic and modern style through 1950'-1960'intimate retro fashion image.
The most widely used material in furniture is wood. It is not only because it has good machinability and can be easily accessed, but also it is eco-friendly and human-friendly. Such material has been continuously being used for furniture and its machining method has been being actively researched and developed. Lumber has and has developed its own machining method. The conventional lumber machining method is difficult to make various types of furniture because it focuses on solving lumber's own modification problem due to the swelling and shrinking, and durability. Considering such characteristic of the material, a method to make it light and durable has been being researched and possibilities were found in wooden ships. Wooden ships are ships made of lumber, and are light and strong to be used in water. Also, in order to reduce the water resistance, it has streamlined curves so is formatively beautiful. The elegant curves and light and strong structure showed sufficient possibility to be used in furniture. Thus, the purpose of this study is to find a method to make various shapes of lumber lightly and strongly, using the production method of wooden ships, and to use this production method in designing furniture to propose a new form and structure of bench design, differentiating from conventional monotypic furniture.
The purpose of this study is to consider the origin and kinds of tango and to analyze formative characteristics of tango dance costume. On the basis of the review of literature about tango, photos of tango dance and modern fashion collections designed by tango themes are analysed to examine design elements which are essentially considered in dance costume design. The result of this study are as follows: This study shows the different characteristics of tango dance costume depend on the kind of tango. In case of Argentina tango, sheath silhouette dress and black color are preferred, for Continental tango, fit and flare silhouette which gives convenient movement in dress and white color emphasize the elegant movement are preferred. America tango accentuates the body movement by fitted silhouette, metallic materials, and bead trimmings in dress. The result of the analysis of recent fashion collection shows that characteristics especially strong and sensual tango are mainly an inspiring motive and reinterpreted by designers in modern fashion.
This study intended to analyze the grunge look as a mode of expression and as a characteristic of the fashion of the 21st century, arguing that the look expressed not only an outward appearance or sub-culture but also a change in our attitude and spirit about contemporary fashion. In the study, I carried out an empirical analysis focused on the collection from 2001S/S to 2010F/W and a literature review. In my results, I classified the grunge look into the following categories: 1. mix and match layering; 2. patchwork, collages, and assemblage using all objects as well as clothing materials; and 3. distressing techniques, such as bleaching and dyeing, unweaving, and tears and holes. I also classified the characteristics of grunge into the following categories: 1. conspicuous destitution, which is intentionally expressed by skillful techniques and craftsmanship, indicating that modern people want to attract attention and be distinguished from others, which reflects an attitude of superiority through ironic fashion choices; 2. high lighting the dissolution of decoration, where destruction, poverty and recombination shown in the grunge look emerged as an artificial and intentional ugly aesthetic in contrast to the existing elegant and sophisticated image; and 3. satire and playfulness, as grunge expresses alienation and conflict in modern society through satire and sarcasm, not attacking or avoiding, but through playful and sarcastic engagement so as to decrease poverty and give temporary freedom.
The goal of this dissertation is to analyze the formative characteristic and the aesthetic values of Romantic style. To attain the goal of this study, the selected objects are the Romantic styles that were prevalent from the 1830s to the 1880s. The methodology for this study consists of literary research, aesthetics, dress and case study based upon the analysis of the 19th century dress. Based upon the theoretical study, two results are derived from the analysis of Romantic style in $19^{th}$ century dress. First, the formative characteristics of Romantic style dress are suppression of body, fixed form, volume, and ornamentation. The suppression of body is embodied by two ways. One is tightening body parts, such as the off-the-shoulder line and the corset, and the other is applying weights on body through the wearing of layers of petticoat, crinoline and bustle. The characteristic of the fixed form created the fixed silhouettes of women's dress, for example, an X-silhouette formed with wide shoulders created by big puffed sleeves, narrow waist by corset, and wide hemline of voluminous skirt and petticoats. In addition to the X-silhouette, the bustle style created fixed h-silhouette. Volume in the women's dress were visually expressed by big puffed sleeves, a huge skirt and petticoat made with gathers, pleats and flounces, crinolines and a bustle. Ornamentation was used to express an elegant and fantastic style not only by using luxurious materials in various colors and patterns, but also by applying sumptuous details and trimmings. Second, the aesthetic values of Romantic style dress are subordination, sensuality, and maternity. Women's dress of the 19th century not only restricted free movement and symbolized men's wealth and status, but also was used as an important tool for seducing men by exposing and accentuating the sexual body, thus becoming a symbol of fertility as a metaphor of pregnancy and uterus. These aesthetic values represented in dress incorporated the contemporary requirements of women of the time.
The purpose of this study is to take into consideration the formative and aesthetic characteristics of wedding dresses that existed during the periods of Neo-Classicism and Romanticism which appeared as a reaction toward Neo-Classicism. The method of the research was mainly focused on precedent research data and general references. Furthermore the data on wedding dresses was mainly collected from British, French, and American library and museum web sites. The result of the research is the following. The Neo-Classicism art, which appeared along with the enlightenment in the beginning of the 19th century, pursues beauty based on associations and imitations of ancient Greek and Roman arts. In addition to aforementioned pursuits, the Neo-Classicism art also pursued universal beauty and social usefulness through law and order. This aesthetic value was also applied to the wedding dresses, so classical beauty, natural beauty and universal beauty were expressed as follows: corsets of the previous era were removed from general clothing and Empire style that imitated natural Greek style became predominant. Also, muslin replaced high quality clothes which were used as the main materials of the dressing during the previous era. Empire style's wedding dress became popular and simple colors and styles of the wedding dress expressed the beauty of the human body and emphasized civility at the same time. Romanticism art and costumes opposed rationalism and pursued sentimentalism. Moreover, it pursued diversity, exotic tastes and accepted diverse reactionism unlike Neo-Classicism's simplification and standardization. These aesthetic characteristic were applied to the wedding dress of this period; wedding dress of romanticism pursued feminine and elegant beauty with "X" silhouettes and various decorations, like general costumes. And they were decorated with a variety of excessive accessories, details and trimmings to express romantic sentimentalism. Exotic tastes which included Chinese, Egyptian, Indian influence and other diverse tastes were expressed through hair style, accessories and patterns of shawl. However, the white color in the wedding dress revealed purity and sanctity which cannot be found from general costumes regardless of whether the dress expressed Neo-classicism or Romanticism. As a formal dress worn during wedding ceremonies, the wedding dresses of the royalty revealed dignity and authority and significantly influenced later wedding dress designs.

Social structure has diversified, and changed into the form of pluralism since entering the 21st century. Specially, entering in the 21st century modem fashion is expressed to the luxurious feminism which expresses sensual, strong, and decorative elegant based on the womanly beauty. Then, it appears often in modem fashion as the pursuit image of modem persons. Therefore, the purpose of this study was not only to analyze the meaning providence and the diagnostic elements about the gorgeous image that appears often in modem fashion, but also to help the various fashion image representations by arranging the presenting principle and the method of fashion image systematically setting in the trend toward modem fashion. The method of this study was a theoretical research of the literature materials concerned with fashion images by the clothes. Also, the questionnaires were completed by selected specialists as investigation subjects who were variously engaged in the fashion-related fields in order to research the gorgeous image. In this paper. the focus is laid on identifying preferred wedding dress image and its co-relationship with self image of female university students. the biggest potential customer group in the industry. As for the research method. it conducted both review of literature and empirical research method. Through the former approach, four main research questions were derived : 1) What is the preferred wedding dress image of female university students\ulcorner 2) What is the relationship between real self-image and preferred wedding dress image\ulcorner and 3) that between ideal self-image and preferred wedding dress image\ulcorner 4)What is the relationship between the consistency level of the two self-images and preferred wedding dress image\ulcorner In the empirical mode of research, 404 surveys were counted in the final analysis among 450 questionnaires completed by female undergraduate students in Seoul and Chun-an city. Collected data analyzed using factor analysis. frequency analysis. descriptive analysis. scheffe test. multiple-regression analysis and t-test. Results are as follows: first, the sophisticated image was most preferred among female students, followed by elegant splendor. lovable and chaste, feminine and decorative, and characteristic and sexy image. This result indicates how wedding dress trend has a keen sensibility to general fashion trend just like the trend of outfits for everyday life. Secondly, the research results indicated consistent level of co-relationship among the real and ideal self-image and the preference of wedding dress image. And the last the level of consistence between the ideal self-image and the real self-image directly related to the preference level of wedding dress image, showing almost no significance.
