  • In this paper, the Flexible information display was implemented using AC powder electroluminescent device. ZnS:Cu and $BaTiO_3$ was used as a phosphor and dielectric respectively. The preparation of phosphor and dielectric layer was performed with screen printing. The implemented system of the Flexible information display was divided as following; EL display, driving circuit, software for driving. The properties of fabricated devices was measured with EL spectrum and brightness.

  • Electrokinetic motion of fullerene ($C_{60}$) particles in liquid crystal (LC) medium under an in-plane electric field has been studied for the application to the electronic paper display. Fullerenes move in the direction of applied electric field due to interaction between the induced dipole moment on $C_{60}$ and external electric field at lower threshold voltages compared to other devices such as QR-LPD (Quick Response Liquid Powder Display) and TBD (Twisting Ball Display). We also confirmed the bistability of fullerene particles in LC medium and the results showed that the 87% and 81% of original reflectance or transmittance of image was retained after 24 hours and 48 hours respectively. Our studies show the possibility that fullerenes can be used for electronic paper display.

  • A custom-made display driver for an electronic paper is presented, which has high-voltage multilevel output capability and extremely low power consumption. An original level-shifter circuit can effectively reduce the power consumption and the chip area. This driver was implemented to a Quick-Response Liquid Powder Display (QR-LPD) and the image quality and power consumption was estimated.

  • True electronic paper displays are being enabled by the development of two core technologies - plastic electronics for display backplanes and electrophoretic ink for use as the imaging layer. Electrophoretic ink developed by E Ink Corporation continues to advance performance along with parallel technology breakthroughs in flexible TFT backplanes. An overview of these advances in the ink imaging material will be discussed with special emphasis of the expected impact on the emerging flexible display applications.

  • The toner type paper-like display (PLD) has been developed with two polymer particles having opposite polarity composed of polymer, colorant and external additives (nano-sized silica). Nano-sized silica with triboelectric charge was used for the charge control agent (CCA) and influenced on the electrostatic properties of the silica-coated polymer particles. The surface morphology and the cohesiveness of silica-coated polymer particles were changed with the silica coating time. From these results, it was verified that the PLD cell using silica-coated particles (200 seconds) shows a good white appearance and low driving voltage.

  • Plasma Display Panels(PDPs) suffer from motion artifacts because of subfield driving method. In this paper, a modified motion compensation method is proposed. We apply the optimized mapping table to the higher subfield group and the fill-up method to the lower subfield group to generate optimum mapping patterns. This method does not concentrate 'on' mappings on higher subfields. Therefore it can possibly become a more robust motion compensation.

  • Since the invention of 'the Stereoscope' in 1838, many kinds of 3D display systems have been developed and used for various applications. In fact they have been at least proposed for virtually every application that uses 2D displays. In this paper, we introduce the various 3D display techniques and its products.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach for fast generation of CGHs of a 3-D object by using the run-length encoding and N-LUT methods. In this approach, object points to be involved in calculation of the CGH pattern can be dramatically reduced and as a result a significant increase of computational speed can be obtained.

  • Recently, retail technology has been developed by the rapid evolution of e-commerce and a representative example is ESL technology. In this study, we investigate ESL technology, market status and forecasts, and analyze the competitive structure between relational companies. Market analysis refers to data from market reports of Marketsandmarkets and Research, and internet media. In ESL, the display field is predicted to account for 43% of the total market in 2026, and is converting from LCD to electronic paper. The segmented type is becoming more advanced into the full-graphic type, and CAGR of 18.7% for 3-7 inches and 20.6% for 7-10 inches is predicted. The demand for ESL is greatest in North America and Europe, but CAGR is the highest in the Asia-Pacific region at 19.1%. Since ESL technology has a lot of overlap with semiconductor and display technology, the Asia-Pacific region is relatively advantageous, and this has led to rapid growth of domestic companies. However, it is expected that competition from European companies that are actually owned by Chinese companies will increase in the future, so continuous technological development and new market development are necessary.
