Performance Comparison of Naive Bayesian Learning and Centroid-Based Classification for e-Mail Classification (전자메일 분류를 위한 나이브 베이지안 학습과 중심점 기반 분류의 성능 비교)

  • With the increasing proliferation of World Wide Web, electronic mail systems have become very widely used communication tools. Researches on e-mail classification have been very important in that e-mail classification system is a major engine for e-mail response management systems which mine unstructured e-mail messages and automatically categorize them. In this research we compare the performance of Naive Bayesian learning and Centroid-Based Classification using the different data set of an on-line shopping mall and a credit card company. We analyze which method performs better under which conditions. We compared classification accuracy of them which depends on structure and size of train set and increasing numbers of class. The experimental results indicate that Naive Bayesian learning performs better, while Centroid-Based Classification is more robust in terms of classification accuracy.

  • Electronic mail (E-mail) is an integral part of communication for the recent Internet users. However, e-mail has also come to serve as a means to support flood of unwanted spam mails and junk mails having bad purposes. This paper was conducted in order to develop an intelligent e-mail system using user behavior pattern that can prevent these unnecessary information and enable the user to enjoy communication via e-mail in a cleaner environment. The concentrated analysis of the user behavior in terms of using e-mail functions has resulted in better classification between unnecessary and necessary information, thereby facilitating faster disposal of spam mails.

  • With the rapid advance of internet service and the corresponding migration of service environment from the text-based one to WWW (World Wide Web) environment, the number of internet users is growing rapidly due to its easy usage. Accordingly, usage of internet as services for sending electronic mails to the other party over the network is becoming increasingly prevalent. Web-based electronic mailing system is comprised of a server and a client. The former provides the users with e-mail accounts and services, while the latter serves as a user interface. In other words, it enables those public users who dos not own e-mail accounts on the existing mail server to have an access to the mailing service through the web. In this paper, we designed a effective web-based electronic mailing system which is based on the internet explorer and linux operating system, which overcomes limitations of the existing e-mail systems and meets the need of a cost-efficient alternative. Our electronic mailing system also supports the convenience of users through appropriate handling of preregistered spam e-mails and multiple e-mails, and this facilitates the development of a stable e-mail system by being able to avoiding the low system performance due to the bursty characteristics of e-mail messages and the increasing number of users

  • Digitalization of public administration information shall be accelerated more. When information exists both in the form of electronic and paper record, even the disclosure of paper record make it possible the access to public administration information itself, but there may some needs for the disclosure of electronic record in applicant's situation. Similarly, when only electronic record exists, there may be some problem about whether to disclose the record as print-out or as being electronic format itself. Thus, the method and format of disclose are very sensitive issues, and it is very important to clarify who has the competence to decide the method and format of disclosure, applicant or the public agency. In making any record available to an applicant under the EFOIA in America, the public agency shall provide the record in any form or format requested by the applicant, if the record is readily reproducible by the agency in that form or format. And for the convenience of the applicant with sensory disability, the AIA in Canada also permits the right to access to information in an alternative format. It is desirable also in our country that disclosure of information is done by public agencies in the format that applicant wants, as possible. In the meantime, we should consider the costs and technological restrictions corresponding to the change of format of information to the format that applicant specifies. In the case of electronic record, efforts required for searching cause some hard problems. Information disclosure system requires disclosure of record that exists at the demand point, and creation of new record that does not exist at that them is not required on the public agency. For the search of electronic information, we need some code or program. So, if we evaluate that act of coding or programming as creation of new record, demand on disclosure of electronic record becomes impossible, in fact. Therefore, when we include electronic record as the object of information disclosure system, we need to clarify the degree of reasonable efforts for searching the information included in that record, as long as possible, although it is very difficult problem. Also, we should consider the way to make it permitted to demand the disclosure of electronic record by FAX or E-mail. Disclosure of electronic record itself by E-mail is not generalized yet, even in America or Canada. There are many technological and legal problems to solve, before permitting or enforcing the disclosure of electronic record by E-mail. But, it is desirable to expand the method of disclosure to including disclosure by E-mail in possible spheres. Also, as well as disclosure on demands, we need to expand electronic access to information, so far as possible, in the process of information offer.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate guidelines for instructional use of e-mail and the method in the present investigation was followed by an analysis of research literatures. This study suggests the following conclusions. First, instructors should use e-mail effectively to improve communication between an instructor and a learner or learners. Communication was essential to support a good instruction. Second, to use effectively e-mail in teaching and learning process, guidelines should followed by considering e-mail characteristics. These guidelines were as follows: (1) Spelling and grammar should be followed correctly. (2) Messages should be followed shortly and concisely. (3) Summaries should be stated in your first sentence. (4) Messages should be responded rapidly. (5) Messages should be responded kindly. (6) Sarcasm and humor should be used carefully.

  • With the change of times, the postal service environment and the customer's service needs are changing greatly. In this paper, we researched to improve inefficient service for registered mail by using ICT technology. ICT-based non-face-to-face smart mailbox system can deliver mail efficiently and improve customer satisfaction. In addition, it is expected that it will be able to reduce the work intensity of the mailman delivery of mail and greatly improve the working environment of the on-site deliverymen.

  • The e-commerce market has been more diversified via B2B or P2P, and the size of this market has gradually been expanded as well. A noteworthy phenomenon is the P2P market, which has shown a rapid, approximately 200-fold or more increase in size since 2005. Specifically, the online secondhand-goods market that makes transaction easier and more convenient has attained a fast growth as well, but either sellers or buyers of secondhand goods are properly protected due to a lack of legal regulations on secondhand-goods transaction. The purpose of this study was to examine problems with online secondhand-goods transaction and to suggest some reform measures. There is something wrong with the legal status of brokers for secondhand-goods sales. According to the current law, individual brokers are neither mail-order sellers nor mail-order brokers. So they don't have lots of liabilities, and it means that the burden of risk is all imposed on buyers. Therefore it's suggested that individual brokers should be defined as 'involved operator of electronic commerce' so that proper liability might be imposed on them.

  • In accordance with the spread of the Internet and the development of various digital devices, the amount of electronic information is rapidly increasing. Selection of electronic information seizure searches continues to increase for third parties, such as portal sites e-mails that persons do not possess directly from the electronic information, and it is also used as evidence in court. However, the current method of searching for houses has many problems such as the absence of notice of seizure search result, seizure searches are proceeded indiscriminately against whole e-mail after calculating only during the seizure period, and seizure search procedure And presented the improvement points.

  • Spam email is an electronic mail sent to a large number of netizen who do not want it. Criminals have been to take an advantage of this tool easily through harmful activities such as phishing. Recently the spam mail containing commercial information is broadly accepted as an illegal commitment to endangering the network. According some report, it could cause real damages. For the better policy on controlling spam mail we need new Efficient Countermeasure. Several laws have been enacted in Korea for controlling spam mail. The most important acts is the Using and Protecting Communication Act. Main targets of this law is virus spreading, computer hacking, cyber pornography, intellectual property breaching, private or public information abusing and cyber terrorism. But the Using and Protecting Communication Act is insufficient to control spam mail. For the better policy on controlling spam mail we need new Efficient Countermeasure. Therefore, this research wishes to present way to control for efficient spam mail through enactment of conversion, induction of clash action system degree, special law of national regulation form for spam mail.
