This paper describes the effects of air gap eccentricity in induction machines. Asymmetric electro-magnetic force caused by the frictional worn bearing, rotor misalignment and unbalanced rotor etc. generates an asymmetrical operation, vibration and electro-magnetic noise. The need for detection of these rotor eccentricities has pushed the development of monitoring methods with increasing sensitivity and noise immunity. In this paper, we focus on investigating the asymmetrical operation considering of unbalanced magnetic force in squirrel-cage induction motor with 380 [V], 7.5 [kW], 4P, 1,768 [rpm]. The effects of the rotor eccentricity, magnetic force are investigated by finite element method (FEM).

A fully-coupled thermodynamic-based transient finite element formulation is proposed in this article for electric, magnetic, thermal and mechanic fields interactions limited to the linear case. The governing equations are obtained from conservation principles for both electric and magnetic flux, momentum and energy. A full-interaction among different fields is defined through Helmholtz free-energy potential, which provides that the constitutive equations for corresponding dual variables can be derived consistently. Although the behavior of the material is linear, the coupled interactions with the other fields are not considered limited to the linear case. The implementation is carried out in a research version of the research computer code FEAP by using 8-node isoparametric 3D solid elements. A range of numerical examples are run with the proposed element, from the relatively simple cases of piezoelectric, piezomagnetic, thermoelastic to more complicated combined coupled cases such as piezo-pyro-electric, or piezo-electro-magnetic. In this paper, some of those interactions are illustrated and discussed for a simple geometry.

This paper studies nonlinear free vibration characteristics of nonlocal magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) nanobeams resting on nonlinear elastic substrate having geometrical imperfection by considering piezoelectric reinforcement scheme. The piezoelectric reinforcement can cause an enhanced vibration behavior of smart nanobeams under magnetic field. All of previously reported studies on MEE nanobeams ignore the influences of geometric imperfections which are very substantial due to the reason that a nanobeam cannot be always perfect. Nonlinear governing equations of a smart nanobeam are derived based on classical beam theory and an analytical trend is provided to obtained nonlinear vibration frequency. This research shows that changing the volume fraction of piezoelectric constituent in the material has a great influence on vibration behavior of smart nanobeam under electric and magnetic fields. Also, it can be seen that nonlinear vibration behaviors of smart nanobeam are dependent on the magnitude of exerted electric voltage, magnetic potential, hardening elastic foundation and geometrical imperfection.

A typical HTS power transmission cable has multi-layer conductor structure to increase the current capacity. The tapes of the innermost layer are wound on a round former, and adjacent tapes of another layer are separated by a thin insulating film. In steady state, the total current flows in the conductor layer, and consequently there is magnetic field between the inner and outer layer. This paper describes a magnetic field amplitude around the conductor layer and the HTS tape by a transport current. Also, this paper will help for future cable conductor prototypes.

Modified couple stress formulation and first order shear deformation theory are used for magneto-electro-elastic bending analysis of three-layered curved size-dependent beam subjected to mechanical, magnetic and electrical loads. The governing equations are derived using a displacement field including radial and transverse displacements of middle surface and a rotation component. Size dependency is accounted based on modified couple stress theory by employing a small scale parameter. The numerical results are presented to study the influence of small scale parameter, initial electric and magnetic potentials and opening angle on the magneto-electro-elastic bending results of curved micro beam.
A smart beam made of magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) material having piezoelectric phase and piezomagnetic phase, shows the coupling between magnetic, electric, thermal and mechanical under thermal environment. Product properties such as pyroelectric and pyromagnetic are generated in this MEE material under thermal environment. Recently studies have been published on the product properties (pyroelectric and pyromagnetic) for magneto-electro-thermo-elastic smart composite. Hence, the magneto-electro-elastic beam with different volume fractions, investigated under uniform temperature rise is the main aim of this paper, to study the influence of product properties on clamped-free boundary condition, using finite element procedures. The finite element beam is modeled using eight node 3D brick element with five nodal degrees of freedom viz. displacements in the x, y and z directions and electric and magnetic potentials. It is found that a significant increase in electric potential observed at volume fraction of $BaTiO_3$, $v_f$ = 0.2 due to pyroelectric effect. In-contrast, the displacements and stresses are not much affected.

Natural DNAs in dry state, i.e., A-DNAs, when intercalated with low levels of stable organic free radicals or complexed with low levels of Au(III), are attracted at room temperature to commercial magnets, whereas those containing high levels of intercalators or Au(III) are not. This surprising observation is explained by the EPR spectra and SQUID measurement of magnetization of the modified DNAs. It is conjectured that A-DNAs are morphologically heterogeneous containing ordered and disordered regions. The ordered regions appear to strongly mediate magnetic interactions between spins through their ${\pi}_z$-stacked structures. When the modified DNAs are wet or hydrated, they behave diamagnetically.

Acoustic noise and vibration of a BLDC motor is a coupled phenomenon between mechanical characteristics and electromagnetic origins through the motor air-gap. When a relative misalignment of rotor in the air-gap center exists on the assemblage, it is considered to influence the motor system characteristics. In this paper, the back electro motive force(BEMF) is analyzed by Finite Element Method(FEM) and verified by experiments for the SPM and IPM type motors. For magnetic field analysis, a FEM is used to account for the magnetic saturation. Using these results, the FEM is made to determine the appropriate electromagnetic field analysis in BLDC motors with rotor eccentricity ratio. A radial magnetic imbalance force of BLDC motor with rotor eccentricity is analyzed. Results demonstrate that the imbalance force is increased according to the degree of misalignment. An IPM motor, mostly chosen to realize high-speed operation, shows a worse effect on magnetic unbalanced forces and dynamic responses compared with SPM motor due to magnetic saturation when the rotor eccentricity exists.

In-vehicle multimedia systems are one of the most important factors in the automotive industry. Especially, multimedia systems are more important in advanced commercial vehicles such as premium express buses. In this paper, we proposed a multimedia streaming system architecture using MEP(MOST Ethernet Packets) for premium express buses based on MOST150. We have designed and implemented the prototype of proposed multimedia streaming system. We have designed a board based on i.MX6 to operate a proposed multimedia streaming system. The software has designed a multimedia system for premium express buses based on Android which is an open source platform. MOST(Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a high-speed multimedia network technology for in-vehicle multimedia system. The MOST network is able to manage up to 64 devices and ring topology is used basically. In addition, the MOST Network meets EMI(Electro-Magnetic Interference)/ EMC(Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) requirements because it uses plastic optical fibers(POF).
