During the past several decades, electricity generating plant increased with remarkable rapidity in Korea. Recently the increase has been much more rapid as the rate of industrialization has accelerated. Construction of nuclear power plants in coastal areas inevitably caused the perturbation of critical coastal habitats and thus influenced marine algal species composition. Particularly, an increase in the building of nuclear power plants led the amounts of heat discharged to increase exponentially. As far as the effects of cooling water and thermal discharges are concerned, benthic marine algae are likely to be vulnerable to a discharge. Heated effluents from nuclear power plants, with the temperature rises of 7~12$^{\circ}C$ under normal operating and design conditions, are discharged through the discharge canal and into natural water bodies. It is clear that the characteristic marine algal community is developed in the area affected by the thermal discharges; i.e. low species richness and low species diversity. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile to note that elevated temperatures exert differential effects depending on the algal populations. Benthic marine algae grown at the discharge canal can be regarded as warm tolerant species. 35 species (4 blue-green, 9 green, 8 brown and 14 red algae) of marine algae occurred more than 20eye frequency at discharge canal of three nuclear power plants in the east coast during 1992 ~ 1998 and thus can be categorized as warm tolerant species in Korea. To minimize the ecological impacts of waste heat on benthic marine algae, it is recommended that, in the future, nuclear power plants will have to employ some form of closed-cycle cooling for the condensers.
In the past most major accidents resulted in death, but today there is a dramatic increase in the number of people who survive such accidents but who are left with permanent injury. Particularly, children who are inquisitive about their surroundings but immature in their ability to assess danger, are more vulnerable to accidents and their causes as well as to determine attitudes towards prevention. The main objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness of using an accident prevention manual for accident for accident prevention education. The study was a quasi-experimental study using a questionnaire format. The subjects of the study were 393 mothers of children attending six day care centers in Seoul. Data collection was done between May 1 and June 15, 1997. The tools used for the study were a questionnaire developed the researchers and a manual for accident prevention. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS. The results of the study are as follows: 1. Types of accidents included stabbing, bums, falls from heights, choking, falls on slippery surfaces, traffic accidents, drowning, poisoning, and electrical shock in that order of frequency. 2. The main causes of accidents in children were from cosmetics and household medications. 3. The most frequent locations of accidents in the home were the bathroom, kitchen, and stairways in that order. 4. For $90.4\%$ of children safety seats were not used when the ridding in a car. 5. In examining the parents' accident prevention practices, it was found that many parents used only . one electrical outlet for many appliances, tending to overload the electricity lines and that they were not practically concerned bout the flammability of children's pajamas, indicating a less than positive attitude towards fire prevention. 6. The parents had not provided their children with any instruction on accident prevention or on what to do after an accident had occurred. 7. After the use of pamphlet in an accident prevention education program, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in the degree to which children carried out safety measures (t=14.96, p=.000) and in their safety habits (t=-1.67, p<.1) indicating an effectiveness in this method of education. The results of this study showed that there are many things in a child's environment that can cause accidents and that the possibility of an accident occurring is high. So nurses looking after children should be aware of the need for safety education to prevent accidents in the home and plan to provide appropriate educational material to help parents with this education.

The objective of this research is to evaluate various reclamation methods of sewage sludge cake after treating with microwave under optimum conditions. In this study the sewage sludge cakes used from S and N wastewater treatment plants in the P city. Microwave with an induced electricity heating way was employed for dehydration of sewage sludge cake. Microwave operation conditions is 2,450 MHz of frequency and the power with 1 to 4 kW. This sewage sludge cake had a moisture content of 70%. The moisture content of the sludge decreased notable up to 2%(wt) resulted in breaking of cell wall. When the treated sewage sludge cake mixed with soils could be applied to use midterm and last cover material soils. Moreover, the adsorption ability of heavy metals such as copper, lead, chromium and cadmium was greatly enhanced by treated sewage sludge cake. Within 30 minutes, 1ppm of copper, chromium and cadmium and 10ppm of lead with 1g of the treated sewage sludge cake in $100m{\ell}$ were below detection. It was possible to use the treated sewage sludge cake as an absorbent for absorption of toxic heavy metals. Results from this research indicated that using of microwave radiation was an effective method for treating sewage sludge cake economically and environmental. A point of view of reclamation, the treated sewage sludge cake appeared to be feasible with an adsorption of heavy metals in steady of using expensive yellow earth.

In this paper, we introduce the contactless power transmission device for transmitting the power with the resonant characteristic of the cavity resonator. When transmitting the power, the contactless power transmission device begins to work in the condition where the transceiver adheres closely. The transceiver is electrically separated because there is no conductive terminal outside and the size of the receiver required for the electric power transmission can be minimized. The cavity resonator comprises slots for the input port and output port in the upper side conductor plate of the cavity and forms the input port and output port using the stripline structure at this upper part. The some of output port is separated from it and the electric power receiver is formed thus the union can be possible. The rest except electric power receiver become the electric power transmitter, which includes the input port of stripline-slot coupling, cavity, and the slot of the output port. If the transmitter and the receiver are combined, they become the form in which the electricity is transferred from the input port to the output port in a cavity resonator. The center frequency of the contactless power transmitter manufactured is 5.782 GHz. and $S_{21}$ is measured as -1.07 dB. It is confirmed that the high electric power transfer rate is approximately 78 %.

The wound induction motor can provide high starting torque and reduced starting current simultaneously by inserting large resistor externally when starting. And this technique is one of the well known methods among the induction motor starting methods and generally used for heavy load starting such as crane and cement factories. The conventional PI controller has been widely used in industrial application due to the simple control algorithm and is generally used for control of current torque, position, and speed for the wound induction motor drive system. However, the conventional control system for wound induction motor may result in poor performance because sensors have to be used but are often limited by the environmental condition. Recently, to overcome these problems, many sensorless vector control methods for the wound induction motor have been studied. This paper presents a MRAS method for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor drive. In the conventional MRAS method, in low frequency, the stator resistance variation may result in poor performance. Therefore, this paper presents a MRAS method with stator and rotor resistance tuning for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor to overcome several shortages of the conventional MRAS caused by parameter variation and to enhance the robustness of the sensorless vector control. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through digital simulation.

In the 21st century, human beings are becoming increasingly concerned about greenhouse gas emissions as the environment changes due to climate change become serious. The temperature of Korea has risen by approximately $1.5^{\circ}C$ from 1904 to 2000, and the climate is changing gradually to a subtropical climate. As a result, the frequency of floods and droughts increases, so that the water available to humans is decreasing every year, and the cost of using city water is rising every year. The reuse of wastewater that is normally abandoned is inevitable. This study examined the monthly data for 6 months of operation by installing a reuse system of concentrated wastewater (Re R/O System) that is generated during the process of manufacturing de-ionized water (DI-Water System) used in semiconductor processing. As a result of the survey, the city water supply saved approximately $2,767m^3$ per month. The average annual greenhouse gas emissions was $1,329.07kg-CO_2$ per month due to the electricity consumption of the water reuse system. On the other hand, because of the reduction in city water supply, the average monthly average of $918.64kg-CO_2$ was reduced, and the greenhouse gas emissions were increased to $410.43kg-CO_2$ per month. If it improves some processes in the water reuse system, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by an average of $254.41kg-CO_2$ per month.
Water wall tube is one of the major factors consisting of a fluidized bed boiler and it plays very important role for the generation of electricity within the boiler. But these water wall tubes within the fluidized bed boiler are subject to the ware and corrosion caused by the high temperature gas and the flowing medium. If water leak is occurred, the secondary damage by the water leak will occur. As a result of that, the power generation efficiency decreases noticeably. Therefore, the maintenance of the water wall tube is very important. In this study, we designed a exciter sensor based on simulation and composed a remote field eddy current system for the defect evaluation of the outer water wall tube. Starting from the shape design of exciter, we conducted simulations for various design factors such as the water wall tube size, material, frequency, lift-off and so on. Based on the results, we designed the optimum exciter sensor for the water wall tube test within the fluidized bed boiler.
ESS(Energy Storage System) is an important source that keeps power supply stable and utilizes electricity efficiently. For example, ESS contributes to resolve power supply imbalance, stabilize new renewable energy output and regulate frequency. ESS is predicted to be expanded to 55.9GWh of installed capacity by 2023, which is 30 times more than that of 2014. To raise competitiveness of domestic ESS industry in this increasing world market, we have disseminated load-shift ESS for continuous power supply imbalance with FR ESS, and also necessity to secure domestic track record is required. However in case of FR ESS, utility of installing thermal power plant is generally generated within 5% range of rated capacity, so that scalability of domestic market is low without dramatic increase of thermal power plant. Necessity of load-shift ESS dissemination is also decreasing effected by surplus backup power securement policy, raising demand for new dissemination model. New dissemination model is promising for $CO_2$ reduction effect in spite of intermittent output. By stabilizing new renewable energy output in connection with new renewable energy, and regulating system input timing of new renewable energy generation rate, it is prospected model for 'post-2020' regime and energy industry. This research presents a policy alternatives of REC multiplier calculation method to induce investment after outlining PV-connected ESS charge/discharge mode to reduce GHG emission, This alternative is projected to utilize GHG emission reduction methodology for 'Post-2020' regime, big issue of new energy policy.
Recently, the biggest issue in the electricity industry is the increase in renewable energy, and various technologies are being developed to ensure the capacity of the power system. In addition, super-grids linking power systems are being pushed to utilize eco-friendly energy between countries and regions worldwide. The HVDC transmission technology is required to link the power network between regions with different characteristics of the power system such as frequency and voltage. Until now, Korea has applied HVDC transmission technology that connects mainland and Jeju Island with submarine cables. But, the HVDC transmission technology is still developing for long-distance high-capacity power transmission from power parks on the east coast to load-tight areas near the metropolitan area. Considering the high population density and mountainous domestic environment, it is pushing for commercialization of the design technology of the ${\pm}500kV$ Double Bipole with metallic return wire transmission line to transmit large-scale power of 8 GW using minimal right of ways. In this paper, the insulation characteristics were studied for the design of double-bipole transmission tower with metallic return wire, which is the first time in the world. And the air insulation characteristics resistant to the various overvoltage phenomena occurring on transmission lines were verified through a full-scale impulse voltage test.
Due to climate change, water shortages and water-related disasters will be serious. Since the damage and frequency of drought are increasing, the importance of water resource management technology is increasing. In this study, we analyzed the amount of greenhouse gas and the environmental impact caused by the production and operation system technologies of movable weir among various water resource management technologies. The research subjects were air inflatable rubber dams widely used in rivers and upright type rubber dams, which are an improvement on the existing rubber type. Each type of dam was studied at sizes of $1,500H{\times}10,000L\;mm$ and $3,000H{\times}20,000L\;mm$, and the two types and two sizes were compared and analyzed. Using life cycle assessment, we examined the environmental impacts using the amount of electricity required for operation and the discretionary amount required for production. In the '$1,500H{\times}10,000L$' dams, the global warming indexes were $9.35E+04kg\;CO_2-eq$. for upright type and $7.36E+04kg\;CO_2-eq$. for inflatable type. At size of '$3,000H{\times}20,000L$' the global warming indexes were $9.09E+05kg\;CO_2-eq$. for upright type and $1.07E+06kg\;CO_2-eq$. for inflatable type. Analysis of the life cycle environmental impact showed that the environmental impact of the air inflatable rubber dam was reduced by 39.8% at '$1,500H{\times}10,000L$' compared to the larger size. At the larger '$3,000H{\times}20,000L$' size, the upright dam showed a 10.1% smaller impact than the air inflatable rubber dam. Selection of water resource management system should consider climate change, not only management purpose and cost. Additional studies and improvements on rubber dam systems should be made.
