  • In this paper, two sampling methods which are Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) and simple random sampling were. compared to improve the modeling speed of neural network model. Sampling method was used to generate initial weights and bias set. Electrical characteristic data for $HfO_2$ thin film was used as modeling data. 10 initial parameter sets which are initial weights and bias sets were generated using LHS and simple random sampling, respectively. Modeling was performed with generated initial parameters and measured epoch number. The other network parameters were fixed. The iterative 20 minimum epoch numbers for LHS and simple random sampling were analyzed by nonparametric method because of their nonnormality.

  • This paper presents an attempt to develop probabilistic multistress life models to evaluate the lifetime characteristics of epoxy-encapsulated magnet wire with heavy build polyurethane enamel. A set of accelerated life tests were conducted over a wide range of pulsating voltages, temperatures, and frequencies. Samples of fine gauge twisted pairs of the encapsulated magnet wire were tested us-ing a pulse endurance dielectric test system. An electrical-thermal lifetime function was combined with the Weibull distribution of lifetimes. The parameters of the combined Weibull-electrical-thermal model were estimated using maximum likelihood estimation. Likewise, a generalized electrical-thermal-frequency life model was also developed. The parameters of this new model were estimated using multiple linear regression technique. It was found in this paper that lifetime estimates of the two proposed probabilistic multistress life models are good enough. This suggests the suitability of using the general electrical-thermal-frequency model to estimate the lifetime of the encapsulated magnet wire over a wide range of voltages, temperatures and pulsating frequencies.

  • On-line monitoring system is important for high voltage vacuum circuit breakers (HVCBs) in operation condition assessment and fault diagnosis. A distributed multilayer system with client/server architecture is developed on rated voltage 10kV HVCB with spring operating mechanism. It can collect data when HVCB switches, calculate the necessary parameters, show the operation conditions and provide abundant information for fault diagnosis. Ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) is used to detect the singular point which is regarded as the contact moment. This method has been applied to on-line monitoring system successfully and its satisfactory effect has been proved through experiments. SVM and FCM are both effective methods for fault diagnosis. A combinative algorithm is designed to judge the faults of HVCB's operating mechanism. The system's precision and stability are confirmed by field tests.

  • Carbon films was grown on Si substrates using the method of electrolysis for methanol liquid. Deposition parameters for the growth of the carbon films were current density for the electrolysis. methanol liquid temperature and electrode spacing between anode and cathode. We examined electrical resistance and the surface morphology of carbon films formed under various conditions specified by deposition parameters. It was clarified that the high electrical resistance carbon films with smooth surface morphology are grown when a distance between the electrodes was relatively wider. We found that the electrical resistance in the films was independent of both current density and methanol liquid temperature for electrolysis. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistance in the low resistance carbon films was different from one obtained in graphite.

  • We presents a BGA(Ball Grid Array) package for RF circuit modules and extracted its electrical parameters. We constructed a BGA package of ITS(Intelligent Transportation System) RF module and examined electrical parameters with a HP5475A TDR(Time Domain Reflectometry) equipment and compared its electrical parasitic parameters with PCB RF circuits. With a BGA substrate of 3 $\times$ 3 input and output terminals, we have found that self capacitance of BGA solder ball is 68.6fF, self inductance 146pH, mutual capacitance 10.9fF and mutual inductance 16.9pH. S parameter measurement with a HP4396B Network Analyzer showed the resonance frequency of 1.55㎓ and the loss of 0.26dB. Thus, we may improve electrical performance when we use BGA package structures in the design of RF circuit modules.

  • Modeling busbar distribution system as a transmission line is an important subject of power line communication in the smart grid concept. This requires extraction of busbar RLGC parameters, accurately. In this study, a comparison is made between conventional and modified method for the aspect of optimum RLGC parameters extraction in the 1 MHz to 50 MHz frequency band. The usefulness of these methods is shown both in time and frequency-domain analysis. The frequency-domain analyzes show that the inherent power of modified method can eliminate the errors especially due to the discontinuities arise in conventional method. This makes the modeling approach of modified method more advantageous for the busbars due to its robustness against disturbances in the S-parameters measurements which cannot be eliminated with the calibration procedure. On the other hand, time-domain simulations show that the transmission line representation of the modified method is closer to physical reality by handling causality issues.

  • Penetration and installation of a new dynamic technology known as Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) in a practical and dynamic network requires and force expert engineer to develop robust and flexible strategy for planning and control. Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is one of the recent and effective FACTS devices designed for multi control operation to enhance the power system security. This paper presents a dynamic strategy based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for optimal parameters setting of UPFC to enhance the system loadability. Firstly, we perform a multi power flow analysis with load incrementation to construct a global database to determine the initial efficient bounds associated to active power and reactive power target vector. Secondly a PSO technique applied to search the new parameters setting of the UPFC within the initial new active power and reactive power target bounds. The proposed approach is implemented with Matlab program and verified with IEEE 30-Bus test network. The results show that the proposed approach can converge to the near optimum solution with accuracy, and confirm that flexible multi-control of this device coordinated with efficient location enhance the system security of power system by eliminating the overloaded lines and the bus voltage violation.

  • The Auto-synchronizer is essential equipment for synchronizing a generator to the power system. It is performing that measurement of the magnitude, frequency and phase of the voltage signal of the power system and generator. It is important to select the appropriate measurement algorithm for preventing various problem such as mechanical stress and Electrical problem. Teager Energy Operator(TEO) and Discrete separation algorithm(DESA) is measurable the instantaneous parameters of a sine wave using 5 samples and can be measured at a fast and with a simple operation. Therefore it has many advantages in measuring the parameters. In this paper, it confirmed measurement results using matlab simulations when there are synchronized in order of frequency, magnitude. Also it presented methods using digital filters and sample intervals to improve accuracy.

  • In this paper, we described extraction method of electrical parameters and modeling method of PCB nets on PCB design process. To analyze electrical characteristics of real PCB structure, we selected a cache memory system as an experimental board and designed 6 layer PCB substrate. For extraction of the electrical parameters, we divided circuit elements into the components of conductor types which are wires, via holes, BGA balls etc. and combined the calculated value by real net structure to modeling the PCB nets. We analyzed the electrical characteristics of the PCB nets with the simulation tools of SPICE and XNS. The simulation analysis has shown that the maximum signal delay was 2.6ns and the maximum crosstalk noise was 281 mV and we found that the designed substrate was adequate to system specification.

  • It is difficult to accurately measure the ground resistance because it varies widely not only with the type of soil but also with the ground parameters; the moisture, the temperature the buried depth of electrodes, and the ground augmentation material and so on. Therefore, in this paper we analyzed the relation between the parameters and the resistance of ground in order to obtain a method of maintaining ground resistance stable. In experiments, the variation coefficients of ground resistance were calculated by the monthly measured data. The ground resistance decreases as the length of the ground rod increases. The variation between the ground resistance and the moisture rate of soil was low in case of using the ground augmentation material. Without the ground augmentation material, the ground resistance decreases as the moisture rate of soil increases. The ground resistance becomes small when the earth temperature becomes low.
