Study On Mechanism of Dielectric Breakdown in Polyimide Film

  • The Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Inverter plays an important role in express locomotive. Especially after traction motors are fed by fast switching inverters, the interturn insulation is destroyed more heavily. However, a new type of polyimide corona resistant film is developed and used in insulation of traction motors. In order to investigate the service life of this kind of traction motor, the mechanism and characteristics of dielectric breakdown of polyimide corona resistant are studied in the paper. Experiments have been carried out on specimen according to the condition of traction motor. The breakdown point of tested sample film is analyzed through energy spectrum analysis and electron microscopic photograph. At last, it is presented that the characteristics and mechanism of breakdown of polyimide corona resistance film.

  • Epoxy resin insulators show a lot of advantages for electrical power apparatus. Because epoxy resin provide electrical and mechanical characteristic which is excellent, it is desirable to apply epoxy resin as a spacer and post insulation in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). In this study, we have investigated the influence of surface electric field attached particle contaminated spacer surfaces under SF6 gas. Also, we performed analysis of electric field. As a result, when the particle was attached on spacer, we found out a surface electric field of characteristics.

  • The conduction cooling HTS SMES magnet is operated in cryogenic temperature. The insulation design at cryogenic temperature is an important element that should be established to accomplish miniaturization that is a big advantage of HTS SMES. However, the behaviors of insulators for cryogenic conditions in air or vacuum are virtually unknown. Therefore, we need active research and development of insulation concerning application of the conduction cooling HTS SMES. Specially, this paper was studied about high vacuum and cryogenic temperature breakdown and flashover discharge characteristics between cryocooler and magnet-coil. The breakdown and surface flashover discharge characteristics were experimented at cryogenic temperature and vacuum. Also, we were experimented about mechanical properties of 4-point bending test. From the results, we confirmed that about research between cryocooler and magnet-coil established basic data in the insulation design.

실리콘 처리에 의한 수트리 열화케이블의 절연회복 (Insulation rehabilitation of water tree aged cables by silicone treatment)

  • 본 논문은 수트리 열화된 가교폴리에틸렌(XLPE) 절연 지중케이블의 절연회복을 위해 개발된 실리콘 처리 기법의 현장적용 가능성을 검토하기 위해 수트리 열화된 325 $\textrm{mm}^2$ CN/CV 케이블을 수거하여 실리콘 처리하고, 시간의 경과에 따른 절연성능 향상도를 분석한 것이다. 시료 케이블의 절연회복을 평가하기 위해 교류절연파괴시험을 실시했다. 또 실리콘 처리케이블의 평가를 위해 진단시험 및 케이블 특성평가를 수행했다. 실리콘 처리후 1년 경과 시료 케이블올 분석한 결과, 실리콘액(silicone fluid)과 수분이 효과적으로 결합해 절연파괴강도가 상당히 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 실험결과를 종합해 볼 때 수트리로 열화된 케이블의 절연성능 향상에 실리콘 처리가 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

과냉질소 냉각시스템 가압용 기체의 절연내력특성 분석 (Analysis on the Dielectric Characteristics of Various Insulation Gases for Developing a Sub-cooled Liquid Nitrogen Cooling System)

  • A sub-cooled liquid nitrogen cooling system is known as a most promising method to develop large scale superconducting apparatuses such as superconducting fault current limiters and superconducting cables [1]. Gaseous helium (GHe), gaseous nitrogen ($GN_2$) and sulfur hexafluoride ($SF_6$) are commonly used for designing an high voltage applied superconducting device as an injection gaseous medium [2, 3]. In this paper, the analysis on the dielectric characteristics of GHe, $GN_2$ and $SF_6$ are conducted by designing and manufacturing sphere-to-plane electrode systems. The AC withstand voltage experiments on the various gaseous insulation media are carried out and the results are analyzed by using finite element method (FEM) considering field utilization factors (${\xi}$). It is found that the electric field intensity at sparkover ($E_{MAX}$) of insulation media exponentially decreases according to ${\xi}$ increases. Also, the empirical expressions of the functional relations between $E_{MAX}$ and ${\xi}$ of insulation media are deduced by dielectric experiments and computational analyses. It is expected that the electrical insulation design of applied superconducting devices could be performed by using the deduced empirical formulae without dielectric experiments.

수력발전기 On-line 부분방전 측정 시스템을 이용한 절연상태 진단의 신뢰성 향상 (Reliability Improvement of Insulation Diagnosis Using the Hydro-Generator On-Line Partial Discharge Monitoring System)

  • Accident dangerousness of domestic hydro power generators which are operated in Korea is on the increase because of use at the long term. On this, the Off-line diagnosis techniques developed to the On-line by continued domestic technical development since 2000. Especially, On-line insulation diagnosis of domestic hydro power generator is possible by localization of partial electric discharge sensor and On-line insulation diagnosis system. This paper shows the diagnosis result that is applied localized Ceramic Coupler and PDMS-HG(Partial Discharge Monitoring System for Hydro Generator) at four Chung-ju hydro Generator used for 25 years. Particularly, the confidence of insulation diagnosis is improved by using high frequency filter and sampling the partial discharge signals which occur in site. For reviewing the confidence of On-Line insulation diagnosis system, we measured the outside noises and partial discharge signals during practical operation by using the partial discharge diagnosis system of the Full A/D process. And we reviewed the confidence of the On-Line insulation diagnosis system by comparing and analyzing these data.

  • The Angle Ring and Cap which is called pressboard are settled at primary and secondary coil winding of 154 kV transformer that can reduce effectively distance of insulation. As it has not manufactured pressboard of Angle Ring and Cap for high voltage grade, insulation components industry especially high voltage transformer has not participate in a competition with worldwide yet. That's why is difficult to make an specialized shape of insulation components of high voltage grade. At first, it is very important to make an utility of deformation manufacturing for high voltage transformer insulation components by itself. Therefore it has finally completed to make an deformation manufacturing utility using an special analysis tools. In this paper, developed insulation components was investigates in tensile strength is introduced.

  • The primary insulation system used in an oil-filled transformer is kraft paper, wood, porcelain and oil. Modern transformers use paper that is chemically treated to improve its tensile strength properties and resistance to aging caused by immersion in oil. But these insulation papers are mainly aged to thermal stress. Over the course of the insulation paper and oil's life it is exposed to high temperatures, oxygen and water. Its interaction with the steel of the tank and core plus the copper and aluminium of the windings will eventually cause the chemical properties of the oil to decay. High temperature have an effect on mechanical strength of cellulous paper using the layer insulation. We made two aging cell in which thermal aging tests of insulation papers and mineral oil are conducted. It is measured dielectric strength, number of acid, moisture, etc. of insulation paper and oil aged in the aging cells.

  • The solid insulation system of stator windings in high voltage rotational machines is usually aging in accordance with long time operation. The partial discharge test have been known to check whether insulation deterioration exist or not, and the PD test can effectively diagnose a solid insulation condition regardless of during operation(on-line) or not(off-line). The on-line PD measurement have proven to be a successful technique in monitoring stator insulation condition nowadays. This paper describes the characteristics of comparing the on-line PD measurement data using PDMS-HG(Partial Discharge Monitoring System for Hydro-electric Generator) installed in field with the off-line diagnosis measurement data(insulation resistance, winding resistance, PI, ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ and PD) on hydro generator(13[kV]) stator windings. These results make good use of managing rotational machines through evaluating the solid insulation condition of stator windings.

과전압 분석 결과와 고장특성을 고려한 기설 송전선로의 절연보강 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Insulation Performance Enhancement of Existing Transmission Line Considering Overvoltage Analysis Result and Fault Characteristic)

  • 본 논문은 이미 표준 절연설계 값으로 건설되어 운전중인 송전선로의 절연거리를 과전압분석결과, 뇌사고 및 오손 고장 확률과 특성을 고려하여 재설계하고 소요 애자수량을 결정하기 위하여 수행된 연구결과이다. 송전선로의 절연성능을 훼손하지 않으면서 적절한 절연거리를 확보하기 위하여 EMTP 모델을 이용하여 선로에서 발생 가능한 최대 과전압을 계산하고, 뇌 고장실적 및 뇌사고율 예측계산결과와 오손 고장 확률을 조사 분석하였다. 분석결과로부터 고장 특성을 고려한 소요 애자수량의 결정방법을 제시한다.
