Analysis of Electric Shock Accidents and Check Results in Domestic and Foreign low-Voltage Handhole (국내.외 저압지중함 감전사고사례 및 점검결과의 분석)

  • Recently underground electrical power distribution is increased because people attach importance to aesthetics of the downtown areas. Lew-voltage handhole of underground distribution line for joint and branch point is mainly installed at the sidewalk. So, pedestrian can get a electric shock if fault is occurred in the low-voltage handhole. Furthermore the street was flooded by recently an unusual change in the weather. Fault is occurred in the low-voltage handhole that may create a shock hazard for the human body because a person's body resistance lower due to effect of water. This paper analyses causes of electric shock accidents and check results at the low-voltage handhole. At a result of analysis, the causes of electric shock accidents in domestic and foreign low-voltage handhole are same but environmental conditions of low-voltage handhole are different In the future, the analytical data can be applied to prevent the electric shock at the low-voltage handhole, and can be used to basic data for the improving installment of low-voltage handhole.

An Assessment of Electric Shock Hazard by Safety Criteria Using Graphical Method (그래프법을 이용한 안전기준에 의한 감전위험성 평가)

  • This paper presents a graphical method for hazard assessment of electric shock by safety criteria. For the human body to be safety actual body current should not exceed safety criteria, i.e. allowable body current. The assessment method presented in this paper is based m the safety criteria of the IEEE Standard 80 as well as the IEC 479-1. The hazard can be assessed in terms of alterable touch voltages instead of alterable body current. Thus, the hazard assessment of given electric shock condition is referred to a procedure by which the actual touch voltages are compared with the allowable (safe) touch voltages. Since the IEC 479-1 safety criteria are nonlinear, the graphical method is presented for the hazard assessment. Body current and body voltage are calculated with the allowable touch voltage. A comparison of the safety criteria of two widely accepted standards, i.e. the IEEE Std 80 End the IEC 479-1 is proposed. Also Thevenin equivalent resistance is obtained from electric shock model expressed by two-port earth-grid-foot system. On the basis of calculated results, the allowable touch voltage, the body current and the body voltage we can conduct the hazard or safety assessment and estimate the severity of electric shock.

  • According to the statistics from the Ministry of labor, 70~80 people died by work-related electric shock accidents in the workplace and this number is about 10~20 times higher than those of the foreign countries such as Japan and the United Kingdom in frequencies and rates per 100,000. The electrocution deaths had decreased from several hundred in 1990s to 67 in 2002, since then there has been little change over the last 5 years. To reduce this number of the electrocution death, it is necessary to analyze the sources of the accidents and to implement the suitable measures for preventing the similar accidents from occurring. But there is not any consensus standard method or procedures for accident investigation yet. And the results solely depend on the ability of the investigator. Because of the demand of eliminating technical barrier for free trading, the IEC 60364 is adopted as a regulation for low voltage electrical installations in Korea. The facilities designed and constructed by IEC 60364 are increasing. The facilities by IEC 60364 have different features in comparison with the facilities by Korea eletro technical regulation, and these features combined with parameters of electric shock accident can greatly affect the consequences of the electric accidents. The accident analysis program for electric shock injuries in Terra Neutral(TN) and Terra Terra(TT) system was developed in this paper, which was based on KOSHA Electric Shock Analysis Program(ESAP).

  • This paper presents the evaluation electric shock risk in water so that we made and designed a bathtub which is the same size in real public bath. and then we did an experiment, provided of electric leakage in various conditions so, we measured how to form an electric gradient and knew the electric gradient is formed variously under exposed conductor in water. also we made certain that electric shock risk is down if we insert an insulated pipe in bathtub pipe which is prevent from being formed the electric field sharply.

  • In this paper, The infrastructure case for reproduction or analysis of the mechanism on the fire or the electrics shock of the electrical appliances is proposed. The various electrical appliances(Washing machine, Ballast, Electric heaters, Electronic switches, Mobile phone chargers) used in the home can be tested on the high voltage and over current test through the implementation of the infrastructure. The electrical tests of fire and electric shock consists of the high voltage of maximum 5000 V and over current test of 3 steps(90 A, 60 A, 40 A) and noise test. The mechanism of the fire and the electric shock tests reproduced are analyzed through the monitoring system and the oscilloscope. The electronics manufacturers can prevent accidents through the tests of the electronics factor reproduced and the analysis of the infrastructure designed.

  • A children's electric shock accidents have broken out because children can easily insert sharp things in 220V receptacle holes. As the test result of pushing force, children's pushing force was about 2-4kg and the pushing force of sharp things was less than 2kg. Therefore, it is reason for electric shock that children's pushing force is large than pushing force of sharp things. We have measured insulation resistance for the receptacles of five companies during 50 weeks in humid condition. As these results, Insulation resistance for the receptacles of J. Co. had rapidly decreased with lapse of time. As the result for investigating the surface of receptacle by SEM and EDX, Al, Fe and Br, which weren't discovered at original form, were produced. Therefore, the receptacles of J. Co. should be the improved in the quality of insulating material because insulation resistance can be decreased in humid environment

  • As the industrial scale is getting enlarged and the people's quality of life is growing, the electric energy consumption has been rapidly increasing every year and the frequency of electrical accidents such as electrical shock This paper gives statistical analysis of the number of casualties caused by the electrical shock, five hundred people every year, but it still exceeded the shaping risk of electrical accidents to anyone in KOREA. In this paper, for the electrical shock of the in 2014 act by occupation, voltage electrical equipment, location, accident type and months. In order to acquire electrical shock in 2014, we visited police stations and hospitals and analyzed records of accidents. The result showed that the electrical shock alone caused 37 people deaths and 569 injuries.

  • Electric of using in daily life is always exposed to risk of electrical fire and electric shock. Only degree of risk is different, there is no risk free electrical product. Generally, the higher voltage, the risk of electric shock is high. The much electric current, the risk of electrical fire is high. But, we can't help using electric because of risk and we effort to reduce the risk of electrical fire and electric shock. This study deal with the fire prevention generated on heating equipment using SSR for current.

Transient wave propagation in piezoelectric hollow spheres subjected to thermal shock and electric excitation

  • An analytical method is presented to solve the problem of transient wave propagation in a transversely isotropic piezoelectric hollow sphere subjected to thermal shock and electric excitation. Exact expressions for the transient responses of displacements, stresses, electric displacement and electric potentials in the piezoelectric hollow sphere are obtained by means of Hankel transform, Laplace transform, and inverse transforms. Using Hermite non-linear interpolation method solves Volterra integral equation of the second kind involved in the exact expression, which is caused by interaction between thermo-elastic field and thermo-electric field. Thus, an analytical solution for the problem of transient wave propagation in a transversely isotropic piezoelectric hollow sphere is obtained. Finally, some numerical results are carried out, and may be used as a reference to solve other transient coupled problems of thermo-electro-elasticity.

  • Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are developed to be operated with two kinds of power source (Diesel Engine and Electric Motor with Rechargeable High Voltage Battery Pack). HEVs for military vehicle require high reliability to provide stable powers under serious environment such as vibration and shock. To ensure normal operation of battery pack under serious environment such as vibration and shock, the high voltage battery pack needs to have appropriate dynamic characteristics. This paper presents a design procedure for high voltage battery pack with such characteristics. An isolator design is proposed to reduce vibration and shock. Associated random vibration and shock response of the high voltage battery pack are simulated under conditions suggested by MIL specifications. Its dynamic characteristics and vibration and shock responses are validated with experiments.
