  • In this study, Multi-Array Electrodes (MAE) and Programmable Multi-channel Electrical Stimulator (PMES) were implemented for firing Trigger Points (TPs) of the patient with Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS). MAE has 25 Ag/AgCl electrodes arranged in the form of array ($5{\times}5$) fabricated with flexible pad, which are applicable to be easy-attached to curved specific region of the human body. PMES consisted of 25 channels. Each channel was to generate various electric stimulus patterns (ESPs) by changing the mono-phasic or bi-phasic of ESP, On/Off duration of ESP, the interval between ESP, and amplitude of ESP. PMES hardware was composed of Host PC, Stimulation Pattern Editing Program (SPEP), and Multi-channel Electrical Stimulator (MES). Experiments were performed using MAE and PMES as the following. First experiment was performed to evaluate the function for each channel of Sub- Micro Controller Unit (SMCU) in MES. Second experiment was conducted on whether ESP applied from each channel of SMCU in PMES was focused to the electrode set to the ground, after applying ESP being output from each channel of SMCU in PMES to MAE.

  • 본 논문에서는 압전 소자를 이용한 진동에너지 하베스팅 회로를 설계하였다. 압전소자의 전력-전압 특성을 이용해 최대 전력을 부하로 전달하기 위한 MPPT(maximum power point tracking control) 제어 기능을 추가하였다. MPPT 회로는 전파 정류회로의 개방회로 전압을 주기적으로 샘플링하여 최대 가용전력이 생성되는 지점을 추적하고 이를 부하로 전달한다. 진동에너지 하베스팅 회로는 $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정으로 설계하였다. 최대 전력 효율은 91%이고, pad를 제외한 칩 면적은 $1,100{\mu}m{\times}730{\mu}m$이다.

자동차용 마찰재에서 각 원료의 상대량에 따른 전이막 형성 및 마찰특성의 변화 (The Changes of Transfer film and friction Characteristics with the Relative Amounts of Raw Materials)

  • An NAO friction material (low-steel type) containing 15 ingredients was investigated to study the role of transfer film on the friction characteristics. The friction material specimens with extra 100% of each ingredient were tested using a pad-on-disk type tribotester. A non-destructive method of measuring the transfer film was developed by considering the electric resistance of the transfer film. Results showed that solid lubricants and iron powder assisted transfer film formation on the rotor surface. Average friction coefficient was independent of transfer film thickness in this experiment. On the other hand, the thick transfer film on the rotor surface reduced the amplitude of friction oscillation under temperature conditions ( 250$^{\circ}C$) that transfer film forms.

정적 균형능력 향상을 위한 하지 의류의 EMS 적용 효과 (EMS Application Effect of Lower Extremities to Improve Static Balance Capability)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there were improvements on balance when both ankle-jointed calf muscles and hip muscles, which affect balance capabilities, were activated through taping techniques and EMS. In this study, the One Leg Standing Test, a static balance test, was conducted by experimenting on a flat floor, foam pad, and a stretching board with a gradient of 20 degrees, respectively, to study static balance capabilities in different situations. Nine healthy men in their 20s were measured five times every five minutes considering muscle fatigue, and the difference between each variable was analyzed through post-test using nonparametric statistical analysis. Our results showed an equal increase in static balance capability was similar when EMS was applied only to calf muscles and only to hip muscles. Notably most improvements were seen when wearing calf supporters and taping technology pants, and applying EMS together. It was also found that the difference between EMS electric stimulation and balance capability was greater when wearing and applying supporters and taping technology pants. Based on the results of the present study, a muscle support band and EMS of taping techniques can improve balance capabilities. These findings are expected to form a basis for solutions Improving the balance capabilities

횡문근융해증 이후 나타난 양측 좌골신경병: 증례보고 (Bilateral Sciatic Neuropathy Following Rhabdomyolysis: A Case Report)

  • Rhabdomyolysis is a syndrome caused by injury to skeletal muscles and involves leakage of large quantities of potentially toxic intracellular contents into the plasma. It is known that rhabdomyolysis results in peripheral nerve injury, however, reports of bilateral sciatic neuropathy following rhabdomyolysis are rare. We report a case involving a 42-year-old female patient with no past medical history, who presented with sudden bilateral calf pain, redness, and burning sensation with weakness of both lower extremities after sleeping on an electric heating pad following alcohol drinking. Lower extremity magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) revealed multifocal edema with enhancement of bilateral lower extremity muscles. Clinical and electrodiagnostic tests were consistent with the diagnosis of bilateral sciatic neuropathy following rhabdomyolysis. This is a rare case of bilateral sciatic neuropathy following rhabdomyolysis.

국내 표준계사의 냉난방부하 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Heating and Cooling Loads of Standard Chicken Houses in South Korea)

  • In South Korea, millions of poultry have died due to repeated heat waves every year. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of heating and cooling loads of chicken houses in Korea and to present an effective insulation and ventilation measures to minimize the damage of poultry due to summer heat wave and to save energy in chicken houses in winter. The heating and cooling loads of standard chicken house were calculated. As a result of the calculation of maximum heating load based on the minimum ventilation rate in winter, the outdoor air temperature requiring heating was $6{\sim}7^{\circ}C$ to keep the indoor air temperature of chicken houses as $24^{\circ}C$. The peak cooling load of chicken houses was mostly taken by the heat generated by chickens and the heat gain due to ventilation. The heat gain through building envelopes was as small as neglectable. Most of chicken houses is usually cooled by gigantic forced ventilation in summer in Korea. When the chicken houses are cooled by electric cooling machine such as cooler or air conditioner, it is more effective to keep minimum ventilation rate to reduce the maximum cooling load. To lower the temperature of supplying water to cooling pad, it is recommended to use the underground water below 10 meters from the ground if there is abundant underground water.

  • Low-cost techniques with seismic isolation performance and excellent resilience need to be explored in the case of rural low-rise buildings because of the limited buying power of rural residents. As an inexpensive and eco-friendly isolation bearing, scrap tire pads (STPs) have the issue of poor resilience. Thus, a seismic isolation system under a column (SISC) integrated with STP needs to be designed for the seismic protection of low-rise rural buildings. The SISC, which is based on a simple exterior design, maintains excellent seismic performance, while the mechanical behavior of the internal STP provides elastic resilience. The horizontal behaviors of the SISC are studied through load tests, and its mechanical properties and the intrinsic mechanism of the reset ability are discussed. Results indicate that the average residual displacement ratio was 24.59%, and the reset capability was enhanced. Comparative experimental and finite element analysis results also show that the load-displacement relationship of the SISC was essentially consistent. The dynamic characteristics of isolated and fixed-base buildings were compared by numerical assessment of the response control effects, and the SISC was found to have great seismic isolation performance. SISC can be used as a low-cost base isolation device for rural buildings in developing countries.

자동차 실내 인화성물질과 전기과부하에 의한 화재관련 사례 연구 (A Study for Examples of Fire including with Combustible Substance and electrical overload in Automotive Inside Room)

  • 이 논문은 자동차 실내의 인화성 물질과 전기적인 접촉 불량에 의한 화재사례를 분석하고 연구하는 것이다. 첫 번째 사례는 운전자가 에어컨 냄새 탈취제인 방향제를 사용 후 실내의 크래쉬 패드에 두고 내린 것이 외부의 복사열에 의해 폭발하면서 화재가 발생된 것으로 확인되었다. 두 번째 사례는 운전자가 자동차 실내에 전자기기 등을 사용하면서 전기적인 과부하가 걸려 단락현상에 의해 화재가 발생된 것으로 확인되었다. 세 번째 사례는 자동차 내부의 시트를 따뜻하게 하기 위해 열선을 설치하였다. 초기에 설치하였을 때는 화재의 위험성이 약했으나 5,000km를 운행하면서 이 열선의 내구성이 떨어지면서 순간적으로 전기적인 과부하가 발생되었고, 이 열이 시트에 옮겨 붙으면서 자동차 화재가 발생된 것으로 확인되었다. 네 번째 사례는 뒷좌석에 있던 승객이 담배를 피우던 중 완전히 소화하지 않은 상태로 둔 것이 가연성 종이에 옮겨 붙어 자동차가 전소된 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서, 실내의 인화성 물질이나 전기적인 시스템을 추가로 사용할 때는 화재가능성을 최대한 고려하고 이에 대한 세심한 대책을 강구하여야 한다.

국내 인·허가 온열의료기기 기술 현황 조사 및 분석 (The Current State of Intended Equipment for Heating in Medical Use Based on Domestic Licensed Medical Devices)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to determine the status of thermal stimulation devices approved in Korea for medical applications over the past 10 years, and based on this, to obtain insight for future thermal treatment in Korean medical institutions. Methods : We searched the item classification list entitled "Regulations on Medical Device Items and Rating by Item" from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety Notice No. 2021-24, 2021 (Enforced March 19, 2021; www.mfds.go.kr) for individually licensed heaters using the terms "heat" and "heating". Results : We identified 17 items of thermal stimulation product group, of which 1,308 devices were licensed by February 4, 2022, and 53.2% of them (n=696) were devices with valid permits for distribution in Korea. Among the licensed devices, heating pad systems under/overlay (electric, home use) were approved the most, but combinational stimulator (for medical use, home use; Grade 2) accounted for the highest percentage among the current valid permission. Moxibustion apparatuses were licensed separately for electrical use and non-electrical use, and occupied a low percentage of the total devices. We analyzed 307 devices that were accompanied by technical documents and found that the heat sources were wires in 145 (47.2%), infrared rays in 44 (14.3%) and ultrasonic waves in 42 (13.7%) devices. Most (83.1%) devices were used for pain relief, while other applications included beauty, cancer treatment, maintenance of infant body temperature, and healing fractures. Conclusions : Thermal stimulation devices accounted for about 0.9% of all medical devices, and among them, combinational stimulators and heating pad systems under/overlay had the most valid permits. Thermal stimulation devices using heating wires and infrared rays were the most prevalent, and most were used to relieve pain. In order to develop a range of thermal stimulation devices that can be utilized in Korean medical institutions, it is imperative that they have potential applications beyond pain management, addressing various medical purposes. To achieve this, foundational research is necessary to effectively apply diverse heat sources based on medical objectives.

철도차량용 기초제동장치의 제동레버 강도에 대한 해석적 연구 (Analytical study to the Brake Lever in Basic Brake System for Railway Vehicle)

  • 철도차량에서 기초제동장치의 제동레버는 제동통으로부터 발생되는 작용하중을 받아서 제동패드로 전달하는 중요한 안전장치로 설계 시 높은 안전성이 요구되는 기구이다. 그러나 철도차량의 설계기준인 【철도차량 안전기준에 관한 규칙】에 의하면 충분한 강도를 가져야 한다와 같이 정성적인 기준만을 제시하고 있어 실제 안전율 1.27로 설계된 전기기관차용 제동레버가 절손되어 재질을 바꿔 강도를 높인 적이 있고 또한 철도차량의 종류에 따라 각기 다른 구조의 제동레버를 사용하고 있어 본 논문에서는 분리형 구조로 설계된 고속철도차량과 일체형으로 설계된 전기동차와 전기기관차에 적용된 각각의 제동레버에 대해 이론적 해석, 구조해석을 시행하여 응력분포 및 취약부분을 확인하였다. 또한 제동 시 발생되는 수평응력과 굽힘 응력의 관계를 확인하기 위해 파단시험을 실시하여 제동레버가 굽힘 응력을 많이 받음을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 해석과 실험을 통해 실제 운행 중인 철도차량의 각 제동레버에 적용된 안전율을 확인하였으며, 실제 적용된 안전율을 바탕으로 최소 정량적인 안전율의 기준 값을 제시하였다. 그리고 일체형으로 제작된 전기동차의 제동레버에 대해 동일조건하에 분리형으로 설계 변경하여 구조해석을 시행하여 일체형으로 설계된 제동레버를 분리형으로 설계 변경하였을 경우 안전율 향상에 어느 정도 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다.
