Development and Performance Evaluation of Electrodewatering System for Sewage Sludge Recycling

  • A laboratory-scale electrodewatering system for enhancing conventional filter pressure dewatering by an electric field has been developed to decrease the water content of sludge generated in the wastewater treatment. It consists of a piston-typed filter press, a power supply and data acquisition system. The offset of electrodewatering is investigated as a function of applied pressure, applied voltage, sludge type and filtration time. Also the optimal conditions for maximizing the dewatering efficiency in the eletrodewatering system are investigated. Electric field strength and mechanical pressure are in the range of from 0 to 120 V/cm and from 98.1 to 392.4 kPa. The dewatering rates increased with increasing electric strength. These experiments produced a final sludge cake with water content of 60 wt% using electrodewatering technology, compared with a 80 wt% using pressure filtration alone. The conventional filtration system using the electrodewatering shows the potential to be effective method for improving dewatering Sludge.

  • Magnetic levitation systems using the attraction force of electromagnets have many constraints according to the variation of air gap and the nonlinearity of electromagnetic force and inductances. As a result of these constraints, the nonlinear control of a magnetic levitation system has been improved by the latest advanced processors and accurate measurement system which can overcome problems such as many constraints and nonlinearity. This paper concentrates on the modeling of a nonlinear magnetic levitation system and an application of an exponential reaching law based sliding mode controller using the exponential reaching law which is one of the most robust controllers against external unexpected disturbances or parameter fluctuations. Controllability of a magnetic levitation system using the sliding mode control algorithm and robustness against parameter fluctuations have been verified through the experimental results.

  • Since pop-outs are occurred recently on concrete surface occasionally, it is needed to find out accurate causes and to suggest appropriate methods. On this study, it is investigated the occurrence mechanism of pop-outs caused by electric arc furnace Oxidizing slags as fine aggregate for concrete. As a result, it is investigated the cause of pop-outs that extremely small quantities of free CaO and free MgO in the electric furnace slag react with water to produce $Ca(OH)_2$ and $Mg(OH)_2$, so that their volumes are expanded and erupted about two times. As a resolution, it is needed to remove the potential cause of expansion by replacing the deteriorated concrete section up to the depth to secure the safe of structural element with repairing polymer mortar, especially more than 50MPa.

  • With the development of the society, pure electric vehicles will be surely important of the future. Electric vehicle requires various technology like motor driving, battery management, operational efficiencies and so on. Battery management is indeed the most important to enhance battery's performance and life. This paper has deeply discussed and studied on the lithium-polymer battery management system of pure electric vehicle. First of all we have analyzed the characteristic of the lithium-polymer batteries and the factors influenced on the state of charge. Then a logical SOC measuring method has been raised, which is the combination of open circuit voltage and Ah integration. The next we will introduce the design of battery management system, the battery management system performs many functions, such as inspecting the whole process, when it's running cell equalization protecting and diagnosing the battery, estimating the state of charge. The module design style including microcontroller, data aquisition module, charging control module and serial communication module. To arrive at conclusions, the battery management system which this paper has introduced is reliable and economical.

  • 고온 초전도(HTS) 변압기는 절연수명의 손실 없이 과부하 용량의 증가와 효율의 향상이 가능하여 기존의 변압기와는 달리 구조물의 소형화로 공간 배치가 용이하고 환경 친화적 이어서 전력시스템 운용 전반에 걸쳐 많은 이점을 제공한다. 하지만, 이러한 이점에도 불구하고 AC전압이 인가되었을 때, 교류손실에 의한 심각한 효율의 감소는 불가피하다. 따라서, HTS 변압기뿐만 아니라 고온초전도전력기기들에 대한 DC전압의 적용은 초전도상에서 전기적 저항이 거의 0이라는 큰 이점을 가지고 있기 때문에 초전도 전력기기 시스템에서 최선의 선택으로 여기어지고 있다. 그러므로 DC고온초전도 전력기기들을 개발하기 위해서는 극저온상에서의 DC 절연 특성과 같은 기초연구들이 선행 되어야 한다. 그러나, 지금까지 이 분야에 대한 연구가 많이 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 현재 초전도 전력기기의 대표적인 절연 매질인 Kraft, Kapton(Polymide)와 Nomax(Type 410)을 가지고 권선대 권선의 형상을 모의하여 DC와 AC의 절연파괴 특성의 차이점을 분석하였다. 실험의 결과로부터, 극저온상에서 각각의 절연매질에 따른 DC와 AC의 절연파괴 특성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • This paper highlights the economic effects of nuclear power plants standardization in Korea. The major effects of nuclear power plants standardization appear in the reduction of time-related costs. By using this major economic effects of standardization, an optimal plant mix of electric power until the year 2005 is suggested by means of WASP computer model. And the effects between the standardized case and the non-standardized case is compared.

  • The classical way to improve the control performance is studied on the aspects of gun/turret deive systens. Two ways are discussed comparadively ; electrical case and electro-hydraulic case. System parameters are analytically studied in terms of resonance frequencies, and damping and gear train ratio effects are checked in relation to resonance frequency increase. Benefit of the feedback is discussed to increase the damping of the natural frequency lending to bandwidth increase.

  • 정밀부품의 가공 시에 발생되는 burr는 제품의 정밀도, 성능과 제품의 생산성에도 부정적인 영향을 끼치다. 따라서 효율적인 burr의 제거는 제품의 성능의 향상뿐만 아니라 생산성의 향상에도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 자기 연마법(Magnetic Abrasive Finishing)은 연마제의 연마특성과 철의 자기화 성질을 이용한다. 자기장내의 자기력선의 응집현상을 통해서 burr를 제거하는 방법이다. 자기 유도자에 의해 형성된 magnet flow를 따라 지립이 정렬을 하고 정렬된 지립은 브러쉬의 역할을 하여 burr를 제거하게 된다.(중략)

  • A high efficiency interleaved active clamp forward converter with self driven synchronous rectifiers for a modular power processor is presented. To simplify the gate drive circuits, N-P MOSFETs coupled active clamp method is used. An efficiency about 90% for the load range of 50-100% is achieved. The details of design for the power stage and current mode control circuit are provided, and also some experimental results are given.
