노년층 대상 의류 판매 웹사이트에서 제공하는 소비자 정보에 관한 내용 분석 연구 (Content Analysis of Consumer Information on On-Line Apparel Retailing Sites for Elderly Consumers)

  • As baby boomer generations become older, these "New-age elderly" have emerged as an important consumer segment for apparel products. These young-minded elderly have positive attitudes to technology and enjoy many of high technology tool in their everyday life, which signals a huge market potential for internet apparel retailing targeting these elderly consumers. Internet apparel businesses are required to provide various consumer information to its consumers to facilitate the decision making process. For elderly consumers, who might have different shopping behaviors from the younger consumer segments, different kinds of information with higher quality would be required. As a preliminary step to develop internet consumer information model for elderly consumers, this study seeks to investigate the current practice of information offerings of internet apparel businesses for elderly consumers. Ten internet sites carrying apparel products for elderly consumers were selected and analyzed their offerings of consumer information by five researchers. This study found that internet apparel businesses targeting elderly consumers were still small-sized and lack of sophisticated technology to support these elderly consumers. Most web sites provided basic product information and service information but not fashion and trend related information. Managerial implications were discussed.

Information Sources for Investment Decisions of U.S. Elderly Consumers

  • Using data from the 2007 SCF, this study examined the use of information source for investment decisions of elderly consumers. The results indicated that many elderly consumers (about 88%) involved savings /investment decisions. The elderly used 'Experts' (39.48%) as a major information source for their investment decisions, followed by 'Friends' (24.18%). The results of the multinomial logit analysis suggested that the perceived value, the cost for search, knowledge, risk and some of the demographic factors were significantly related to the choice of the information sources for investments by elderly consumers.

노인소비자의 라이프스타일 유형에 따른 실버상품 수요에 관한 연구 (Demand for Silver Products Versus Lifestyle Among Elderly Consumers)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an understanding of older consumers' lifestyle, and to provide the basic information for developing silver commodities and, in turn, to stimulate the silver industry which has received attention as a next-generation industry. The study divided elderly consumers into four lifestyle categories and analyzed the difference in demographic characteristics among these categories as well as differences in demand for silver products. Data were collected with questionnaire and analyzed with frequency analysis, factor analysis, K-means cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, and a $x^2$ test using SPSS 15.0. Four different lifestyles categories were identified among elderly consumers : conservative and stability oriented (22 persons, 33.3% of the sample), progressive and relation oriented (22 persons, 15.0%), reality adapted (52 persons, 35.4%), and traditional (24 persons, 16.4%). The demand for silver products demands was significantly different among elderly consumers in the four different lifestyle groups.

노년소비자의 가치와 라이프스타일이 외식업체 선택속성에 미치는 영향 (Potential Effects of Restaurant Selection Preferences by Elderly Consumers' Values and Lifestyle)

  • 본 연구는 서울과 경기지역에 거주하며 외식경험이 있는 55세 이상의 노년소비자의 개인가치와 라이프스타일이 외식업체 선택속성에 미치는 영향관계를 파악함으로써 고령화 사회를 목전에 두고 있는 시점에서 외식기업의 경영활동과 그 성과를 극대화 할 수 있는 방안을 마련함에 있어 그 기초적인 자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 기존의 연구논문을 바탕으로 관련 변수를 추출하고 모형과 가설을 설정하여 설문조사를 통해 본 연구의 결과는 노년소비자가 라이프스타일 활동지향형 요인 즉, 최신의 경향과 유행을 따르며 새로운 일에 도전하는 것을 즐겨하는 편이며, 때로는 열정적인 즐거움을 경험하고 싶어 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 외적가치를 지향하는 노년소비자는 라이프스타일에 있어서 비교적 다양한 형태를 나타내는 것으로 나타났으며, 원칙지향형은 편안하게 이야기할 수 있으면서 조용하고 휴식을 취할 수 있는 주변사람들로부터 평판이 좋은 곳을 주로 선택하며 활동지향형은 부대시설이나 노인 특가 할인된 메뉴와 서비스가 친절하며 가격이 저렴하다면 다소 멀어도 이용하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 노년소비자의 개인가치와 라이프스타일에 따라 외식업체 선택속성 기준이 달라질 수 있다는 것을 의미하는 것으로 보다 전국적인 범위로 외식업체를 직접 방문하여 노년소비자를 대상으로 한 보완적인 연구를 바탕으로 노년외식소비자가 지향하는 가치와 외식업체 선택속성을 파악함으로써 향후 외식 기업의 활성화와 노년소비자 시장의 마켓팅 전략 수립에 긍정적인 영향을 가져올 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

New Elderly Consumers' Fashion Innovativeness and Monthly Spending on Clothing : Focusing on Moderating Role of Materialism

  • New elderly consumer market composed of consumers 50 years or older has both resemblance and difference with younger fashion market. This study aimed to examine the effect of socio-demographic and psychological factors on fashion innovativeness and monthly spending on clothing of new aged elderly consumers with the moderating role of materialism. The study found that socio-demographic factors tended to have direct effects on clothing spending, while psychographic factors have both direct effect and indirect effect through fashion innovativeness. The mediating role of fashion innovativeness in predicting clothing spending was found to be moderated by materialism of new elderly consumers. Marketing implications and limitations were discussed.

고령친화 용품의 소비와 관련된 노인 소비자 행태 특성 -대구시를 중심으로- (The Characteristics of Elderly Consumer Behaviors in the Consumption of Aging friendly products)

  • 본 연구는 노인소비자 특성을 인구사회학적 기준에 따라 실증적으로 분석함으로써 고령친화 산업을 준비하는 기관과 기업체에 유익한 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 이 연구에서는 노인들의 제품 선호도, 제품 선택 기준, 제품 구입자, 선호하는 매체를 연령, 성별, 월 소득수준, 교육수준을 기준으로 설문조사하였다. 1차 조사는 2008년 5월27일부터 6월 5일까지 노인 600명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 1차 조사 후 노인들과 젊은 층과 비교해보기 위해 동년 7월 27일부터 8월 7일까지 400명을 대상으로 2차 조사를 추가로 실시하였다. 1차조사결과 노인소비자들이 제품을 선택하는 기준은 기능적인 면을 가장 많이 고려하였고 제품 구입은 본인이 직접하는 경향이 높았으며 가장 선호하는 매체는 TV였다. 노인소비자들은 건강에 관련된 제품에 높은 관심을 가지고 있었다. 남성노인들은 여성노인들에 비해 레저스포츠 및 여행 상품을 많이 선호하였다. 2차 조사에서는 노인과 비노인을 비교하였는데 제품선호도, 선택 기준에서 연령에 따라 차이가 있었다. 연구 결과를 통하여 노인소비자들의 특성을 분석하면 첫째, 노인소비자들을 위한 제품은 기능적인 면을 갖추어야 한다. 둘째, 노인소비자들은 경제적인 면에서 주도적이고 능동적이며 사회적인 면에서 독립성이 강한 경향이 있다. 셋째, 노인들은 건강관련 제품을 선호하였고 노인소비자에 대한 마케팅 계획에는 성별, 교육수준, 월소득 수준과 같은 배경정보에 대한 사전 조사가 필요하다. 앞으로 노인소비행태에 영향을 주는 다양한 변인에 대한 연구가 지속적이고 심도 있게 이루어지는 것이 필요하고 노인소비자 시장을 겨냥한 중장기적인 계획이 필요하리라 판단한다.

패션점포 판매원의 의복과 점포유형이 노년여성소비자들의 호감과 구매의도에 미치는 영향 (The effects of a fashion store saleswomans clothing and store type on elderly female consumers likability and intention to purchase)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a saleswomans clothing and store type on elderly female consumers likability to a saleswoman. Also it was to study the effects of the factors consisting likability to a saleswoman on intent to purchase among elderly female consumers. 3(clothing formality: low, medium, and high)$\times$2(clothing style: clothing looking old vs. young)$\times$2(store type: high priced specialty store vs. low priced open market) complete randomized between subjects design using field experiments were conducted. Subjects were 240 elderly females aged 54-69. The results showed that likability to a saleswoman consisted of impression factor, service ability factor and caring factor. There was the significant three way interaction among three independent variables in the service ability factor(F(sub)2,228=15.62, P<.001). Regression Analysis showed that the impression factor($R^2$=0.29, F<.001) and the service ability factor($R^2$=0.06, F<.001) influenced the elderly consumers intention to purchase significantly. In conclusion, favorable appearances of a saleswoman is considered a crucial service quality influencing potential elderly consumers to purchase.

  • 최근 인터넷과 디지털 기기를 능동적으로 활용하는 고령층이 점차 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 정보기술 활용에 있어서 취약계층으로 여겨지는 고령소비자의 기술 활용의지와 디지털 소외감 그리고 정보기술 활용을 돕는 조력자 경험이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향력을 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 인터넷 활용이 가능한 60대 이상의 고령소비자 총 311명을 연구대상으로 선정하여 온라인 설문조사를 통해 자료를 수집 및 분석하였다. 연구결과, 고령소비자는 정보기술을 주체적으로 활용하려는 의지가 강하고 디지털 소외감을 낮게 지각하며 기술 활용 시 조력자의 도움을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 회귀분석 결과, 디지털 소외감을 낮게 지각할수록, 기술사용에 있어서 조력자의 도움을 많이 경험할수록 고령소비자의 삶의 만족도가 유의하게 증가하였다. 본 연구는 첨단정보기술 환경에서 고령소비자의 삶의 만족도 증진에의 영향요인을 밝히고 정책적, 실무적 시사점을 제안한다는 점에서 가치가 있다.

노인소비자의 구매문제 인식 유형과 관련변수: 울산광역시를 중심으로 (Elderly Consumers' Perception of the Purchasing Problems and Related Variables : in Ulsan Metropolitan City)

  • This paper measured elderly consumers' perceptions of purchasing problems, and classified elderly consumers into 5 categories of purchasing problems using cluster analysis, and analyzed the relationships between the elderly consumers' perception type, socio economic variables, activities of daily living, and activities of healthy living. The data was collected from 500 elderly consumers in Ulsan Metropolitan City. Three clusters were extracted. 56.4% of the sample was included in 'redress and contract problems group', and 22.6% of the sample was included in 'less perception of purchasing problems group, and 21.0% of the sample was included in 'the perception of strong purchasing problems group. The elderly consumers' perception type of purchasing problems were related with socio-economic variables such as sex, existence of a spouse, the number of family living together, the number of children, education, the average monthly household income and allowance, activities of daily living, and activities of healthy living. The redress and contract problems group was found to be of midium level in socio-economic and health status, and included more females and less spouselessness. The perception of less purchasing problems group was found to be the highest level in socio-economic status, and included more males and less spouselessness. The perception of strong purchasing problems group was found to be at the lowest level of socio-economic status.

중국 노인 소비자의 소비자역량에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study of Consumer Empowerment for Chinese Elderly Consumers)

  • This study examines the consumer empowerment index for Chinese elderly consumers, the impact of socio-demographic variables, exposure to mass media, and communication about consumption on consumer empowerment. The consumer empowerment index is composed of three factors: consumer knowledge, consumer attitude, and consumer skill. Data were collected from 301 Chinese elderly consumers aged 60 to 80 years old via a professional online survey firm. The findings of the analysis were described using frequency, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The results are as follows. First, the average of consumer knowledge was 35.69 points out of 100, consumer skill was 65.71 points, and consumer attitude was 68.87 points. Second, socio-demographic variables indicated that education level, previous occupation, type of residence and communication about consumption impact consumer empowerment. Elderly consumers with higher education had higher consumer attitudes and better overall consumer empowerment than those with lower education. Consumers who were self-employed workers had higher consumer skills than those of technical or service workers. Elderly consumers who live alone had higher consumer skills than those who live in a nursing home. Third, according to communication about consumption, family communication is positively associated with consumer attitudes, skills and overall empowerment, while friend communication is positively associated with consumer attitudes and overall empowerment. The findings of this study are useful in developing guidelines that help the government make consumer education systems for the elderly who want to improve consumer empowerment levels evenly among these factors.
