The post core system has been used for reconstructon of severely damaged crown by caries or trauma. But problems such as crown exfoliation, post core fracture and root fracture have been reported. Ideal mechanical properies of the post require high fracture strength, high elastic limit and high resistance against fatigue and corrosion Modulus of elasticity of the post should be similar with that of dentine. Low hardness is also required for the convenience of post removal in failure. Furthermore, the post itself must be translucent for the esthetical purpose. Several types of the post have been developed to satisfy the criteria above mentioned. The purpose of this study was to find out the mechanical properties of quartz fiber post by comparing with those of gold post and zirconia post. The results of this study were as follows : 1. Maximal fracture strength and stiffness of quartz fiber post were similar with those of gold post and zirconia post. 2. Young's modulus and hardness of quartz fiber post were lower than those of gold post and zirconia post. Mechanical property of quartz fiber post against post fracture was similar with that of gold post and zirconia post. Mechanical property of quartz fiber post against root fracture was higher than that of gold post and zirconia post. Quartz fiber post could be removed easily due to low hardness.
The development of modern concrete technology makes it much easier to produce high-strength concrete (HSC) or ultra-high-strength concrete (UHSC) with high workability. However, the application of this concrete is limited in practical construction of traditional reinforced concrete (RC) structures due to low-ductility performance. To further push up the limit of the design concrete strength, concrete-filled-steel-tube (CFST) columns have been recommended considering its superior strength and ductility performance. However, the beneficial composite action cannot be fully developed at early elastic stage as steel dilates more than concrete and thereby reducing the elastic strength and stiffness of the CFST columns. To resolve this problem, external confinement in the form of steel rings is proposed in this study to restrict the lateral dilation of concrete and steel. In this paper, a total of 29 high-strength CFST (HSCFST) columns of various dimensions cast with concrete strength of 75 to 120 MPa concrete and installed with external steel rings were tested under uni-axial compression. From the results, it can be concluded that the proposed ring installation can further improve both strength and ductility of HSCFST columns by restricting the column dilation. Lastly, an analytical model calculating the uni-axial strength of ring-confined HSCFST columns is proposed and verified based on the Von-Mises and Mohr-Coulomb failure criteria for steel tube and in-filled concrete, respectively.
It follows from the basic principles of mechanics of deformable solids relating to the strength, stability and propagation of elastic waves that the Earth's inner core cannot exist in the form of a spherical structure in the assumed thermobaric conditions and calculation values of physico-mechanical parameters. Pressure level reaches a value that is significantly greater than the theoretical limit of medium strength in the model approximations at the surface of the sphere of the inner core. On the other hand, equilibrium state of the sphere is unstable on the geometric forming at much lower loads under the influence of the "dead" surface loads. In case of the action of "follower" loads, the assumed pressure value on the surface of the sphere is comparable with the value of the critical load of "internal" instability. In these cases, due to the instability of the equilibrium state, propagation of homogeneous deformations becomes uneven in the sphere. Moreover, the elastic waves with actual velocity cannot propagate in such conditions in solid medium. Violation of these fundamental conditions of mechanics required in determining the physical and mechanical properties of the medium should be taken into account in the integrated interpretations of seismic and laboratory (experimental) data. In this case, application of the linear theory of elasticity and elastic waves does not ensure the reliability of results on the structure and composition of the Earth's core despite compliance with the required integral conditions on the mass, moment of inertia and natural oscillations of the Earth.
In this study, the effect of $\alpha$-phase morphology on the dynamic deformation behavior at ultra high strain rate was investigated by EBW(Explosive Bridge Wire) test. All of tests and analyses were conducted on three typical microstructures of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, i.e. equiaxed, widmanstatten and bimodal microstructures. The spall strength and HEL(Hugoniot Elastic Limit) of the specimens that have the thickness of 2mm and 4mm were highest with the bimodal microstructure. These results were similar with previous study which was performed by dynamic torsion test(Kolsky torsion test).
In the present study, the loading frequency dependencies of cyclic shear strength and elastic shear modulus of reconstituted clay were examined by performing undrained cyclic triaxial tests and undrained cyclic triaxial tests to determine deformation properties. The result of undrained cyclic triaxial test of reconstituted and saturated clay shows that a faster frequency leads to higher stress amplitude ratio, but when the frequency becomes fast up to a certain point, the stress amplitude ratio will reach its maximum limit and the frequency dependence becomes insignificant. And also, the result of undrained cyclic triaxial deformation test shows a fact that a faster loading frequency leads to higher equivalent shear modules and smaller hysteresis damping ratio, and confirms the frequency dependence of cohesive soil. Meanwhile, the result of the creep test shows that continuing creep is created in the undrained cyclic triaxial test with slow loading frequency rate, and since loading rate becomes slower at the vicinity of the maximum and the minimum deviator stress due to sine wave loading, the vicinity of the maximum and the minimum deviator stress shall be more influenced by creep.

Ti-50.9at%Ni wires were welded using pulsed YAG laser. The laser welded wires were tested for investigating the shape memo교 effect and the ability of super elasticity. The fatigue properties of the welded wires were investigated using the rotary bending fatigue tester specially designed for wires. Moreover, the effect of defocusing distance during laser welding on the static and fatigue properties was investigated. The shape memory effect and super elasticity of the laser welded wires were approximately identical with that of base metal at the test temperature below 353K. However, the welded wires were broken within elastic limit at the test temperature above 353k. Under the cyclic bending loading conditions, the welded wires could be useful only below the elastic limit, while the base metal had sufficient fatigue life even the stress induced M-phase region. The fatigue strength of the welded wires was about half of that of the base metal. The deterioration of the static and fatigue properties in the welded wires was proven to be from the large difference of the transformation behavior between the base metal and welded part that is caused by vaporization of Ni-content at the welded part during the welding process. The defocusing distance below 3mm acted more largely on lowering the strength of the welded wires than that of 6mm or 8mm.

It is now well recognized that the ultimate limit state approach is a much better basis for design and strength assessment of ships and offshore structures since it is difficult to determine the realistic margin of safety using the traditional allowable working stress approach on the basis of linear elastic method solutions together with buckling strengthchecks adjusted by a simple plasticity correction. This paper outlines ALPS theory for ultimate limit state assessment of ship structures. ALPS is a computer software which stands for nonlinear Analysis of Large Plated Structures. Application examples of ALPS program to ultimate limit state assessment of plates, stiffened panels and ship hull girders are presented. A benchmark study is made by a comparison with the ALPS solutions with other methods including class rule formulae, nonlinear finite element methods and experimental results. Future trends on ultimate limit state assessment of ship structures are addresse[1]
또한 내부마찰각은 ML(액성한계가 낮은 실트)과 CL(액성한계가 낮은 점토)이 거의 같은 거동 특성을 나타내었고, MH(액성한계가 높은 실트)는 ML의 약 88% 값을 나타내었다. 점착력에 대한 변화는 거의 비슷한 증가비를 나타내었다.
A new earthquake design method performing iterative calculations using secant stiffness was developed. The proposed design method has the advantages of convenience and stability in numerical analysis because it uses elastic analysis. At the same time, the proposed design method can accurately estimate the strength and ductility demands on the members because it performs the analysis on the inelastic behavior of structure using iterative calculation. In the present study, the procedure of the proposed design method was established, and a computer program incorporating the proposed method was developed. Design examples using the proposed method were presented, and its advantages were presented by the comparisons with existing design methods using elastic or inelastic analysis. The proposed design method, as an integrated method of analysis and design, can address the earthquake design strategy devised by the engineer, such as ductility limit on each member, the design concept of strong column - weak beam, and etc. Through iterative calculations on the structure preliminarily designed only with member sizing, the strength and ductility demands of each member can be directly calculated so as to satisfy the given design strategy As the result economical and safe design can be achieved.
