  • Sublimation vapour pressures and sublimation enthalpy of anhydrous bismuth trifluoride have been measured by the continuous gravimetric Cnudsen-effusion method from 639-7 to 782.8 K. Additional effusion measurements have also been made from 750.6 to 863.1 K by the torsion-effusion method. Based on a correlation of subHo298.15 and subSo298.15, a recommended P(T) equation has been obtained for BiF3(s); logP= -C/T+5.2375logT-3.205$\times$10-3+4.661$\times$104/T2+1.348 where P is in Pa, T in Kelvin, subHo298.15 in kJ mol-1 and C=( subHo298.15-13.5149)/1.9146$\times$10-2. Condensation coefficients and their temperature dependence have been derived from the effusion measurements.

  • The patient who has DM, Hypertension, Arrithemia, Arteral fibrillation, Heart failure attacted cerebral infartion and he was took treatment by chungpesagan-tang and mannitol at the same time for 4 days and only chungpesagan-tang for 3 days. General condition improved but at seventh day cold sweating and hypothermia appeared. So we take chest x-ray. The result is fleural effusion. Chungpesagan-tang is the method of Purgative action so heart function is injured in circulation. In the results we consider that the medication of chungpesagan-tang and mannitol at the same time is bad influence on heart and induce ftueral effusion.

  • Pleural effusion represents a rare complication of acute hepatitis A infection. Twelve year-old girl was admitted with complaints of general weakness, nausea and icteric sclerae. She also complained of right chest pain. Right decubitus view of chest radiograph showed pleural fluid accumulation. Laboratory findings were as follows: AST/ALT 1692/1970 IU/L, total/direct bilirubin 4.48/3.66 mg/dL and HA IgM Ab (+). On the seventh day of hospitalization, her general condition was much improved and chest radiography showed resolved pleural effusion.

  • The local heat/mass transfer coefficients for arrays of impinging circular air jets on a plane surface are determined by means of the naphthalene sublimation method. Spent fluid makes a crossflow in the confined space. The crossflow reduces heat/mass transfer at the small gap distance between the jet plate and impingement surface because of reentrainment of the spent fluid. The present study suggests a new exhaust system having effusion holes in the impinging jet plate. The spent air flow out after impingement just through effusion holes located in the upper plate. This system increases heat/mass transfer coefficients and uniformity for small gap distances$(H/d{\leq}2)$

  • The thermal evaporation source is used to prepare thin films by physical vapor deposition. Materials of metals, organic materials, were tested and explained for thermal evaporation experiments. The developed effusion cell performance depends on the type of deposition material, the size of the crucible, the performance of the reflector, etc. and the proper conditions were found by producing, comparing and analyzing several sets of effusion cell to quantitatively evaluate the performance of the cell. The effusion cell for thermal evaporation source is used to prepare thin films of Ag, Cu, Mg.

  • Objective : This study is designed to evaluate the changes of clinical symptoms after the therapy of acupuncture in the 18 patients with Otitis media with effusion who were treated at our hospital from June 1th, 2000 to June 30th, 2001. Methods : The patients received acupuncture on the points of TE5, G41, TE6, SI5, G38, K2 and venesection on the part of posterior ear. Results : The results of treatment with acupucture showed that 4 of 18 patients achieved excellent recovery and 12 achieved good recovery. Total 16 of 18 patients, except 2, improved clinical symptoms after the therapy as a result. Conclusion : Acupuncture successfully improved conditions of the patients with Otitis media with effusion.

  • A 13-year-old, Maltese dog presented with syncope and lethargy. Abdominal ultrasonography demonstrated anechoic peritoneal effusion and hepatic congestion. A focal echogenic round mass compressing the right ventricle and atrium was observed on echocardiography. Cardiac tamponade and right ventricular outflow tract obstruction occurred. On computed tomography, a homogeneous soft-tissue structure compressing the right chamber without contrast enhancement, suspected to be loculated pericardial effusion. During pericardiocentesis, cardiac tamponade was resolved, and irregular pericardial thickening was noted. Pericardial effusion was exudate and gram-positive bacterial colonies were observed on cytology. A diagnosis of fibrinous pericarditis secondary to bacterial infection was established.

  • Aims: To explore efficacy and side effects of intrapleural or intraperitoneal lobaplatin for treating patients with malignant pleural or peritoneal effusions. Methods: Patients in Jiangsu Cancer Hospital and Research Institute with cytologically confirmed solid tumors complicated with malignant pleural effusion or ascites were enrolled into this study. Lobaplatin (20-30 $mg/m^2$) was intrapleurally or intraperitoneally infused for patients with malignant pleural effusion or ascites. Results: From 2012 to 2013, intrapleural or intraperitonea lobaplatin was administered for patients with colorectal or uterus cancer who were previous treated for malignant pleural effusion or ascites. Partial response was achieved for them. Main side effects were nausea/vomiting, and bone marrow suppression. No treatment related deaths occurred. Conclusion: Intrapleural or intraperitoneal infusion of lobaplatin is a safe treatment for patients with malignant pleural effusion or ascites, and the treatment efficacy is encouraging.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of ultrasonography of knee osteoarthritis. Methods : 124 osteoarthritis patients classified by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) clinical criteria were included in the study. Simple X-ray and ultrasonography examination (effusion, osteophyte, articular cartilage, Backer's cyst) of knee in pain were performed. Also VAS, KWOMAC score were checked. Results : X-ray showed abnormal findings in 112 patients, but ultrasonography showed abnormal findings in all 124 patients. 12 Patients with unremarkable knee X-ray showed effusion and osteophyte in the ultrasonography. Effusion was discovered only in 18 cases of X-ray and 62 cases of ultrasonography. Group with effusion showed higher VAS mean figure but couldn't retrieve significant difference. KWOMAC showed no significant difference. Conclusions : Osteoarthritis patients with no abnormality in X-ray diagnosed abnormal findings through sonograph, which manifest that sonograph can be utilized for differential diagnosis especially sensitive on the problem of effusion.
