Design Guidelines for a Capacitive Wireless Power Transfer System with Input/Output Matching Transformers

  • A capacitive wireless power transfer (C-WPT) system uses an electric field to transmit power through a physical isolation barrier which forms a pair of ac link capacitors between the metal plates. However, the physical dimension and low dielectric constant of the interface medium severely limit the effective link capacitance to a level comparable to the main switch output capacitance of the transmitting circuit, which thus narrows the soft-switching range in the light load condition. Moreover, by fundamental limit analysis, it can be proved that such a low link capacitance increases operating frequency and capacitor voltage stress in the full load condition. In order to handle these problems, this paper investigates optimal design of double matching transformer networks for C-WPT. Using mathematical analysis with fundamental harmonic approximation, a design guideline is presented to avoid unnecessarily high frequency operation, to suppress the voltage stress on the link capacitors, and to achieve wide ZVS range even with low link capacitance. Simulation and hardware implementation are performed on a 5-W prototype system equipped with a 256-pF link capacitance and a 200-pF switch output capacitance. Results show that the proposed scheme ensures zero-voltage-switching from full load to 10% load, and the switching frequency and the link capacitor voltage stress are kept below 250 kHz and 452 V, respectively, in the full load condition.

A Study for Implementation of Density Measurement Equipment for Asphalt Pavement based on the electromagnetic capacitance

  • In this paper we developed density measurement equipment for Asphalt Pavement based on the electromagnetic capacitance. This kind of Non-Nuclear Density Gauges technology and products is used or studied in USA, Finland, Sweden as standardization of authorized method for pavement density measurement. Effective permitivity of pavement asphalt is characterized in electromagnetic capacitance by the asphalt material, mixed ratio, and harden grade of pavement asphalt. We can get a density value of asphalt by replacing value of electromagnetic capacitance with standard density value and characteristic transformation curve. We are conformed that measurement data according to temperature, humidity, and real field asphalt of our density measurement equipment can be a precise value.

Preparation and Electric Double Layer Capacitance of Mesoporous Carbon

  • Mesoporous activated carbon fiber (ACF) was prepared from phenolic resin containing a small amount (0.1 wt %) of organic nickel complex through carbonization and steam activation. Microporous ACF as reference sample was also prepared from phenolic resin without agent. In both cases of the mesoporous ACFs and the microporous ACFs, the electric double layer capacitance of the nonaqueous electrolyte (0.5 M $TEABF_4$/PC or 1.0 M $LiClO_4$/PC) was not proportional to the BET specific surface area. This is owing to the low permeability of nonaqueous electrolyte or the low mobility of ion in narrow micropores. However, the mesoporous ACF showed higher double layer capacitance than the microporous (normal) ACF. This result suggests that the presence of many mesopores promotes the formation of effective double layer or the transfer of ion in the micropore.

  • In this Study, the capacitance-voltage properties of the (Sr$\_$1-x/$.$Ca$\_$x/)$\_$m/TiO$_3$(0.05$\leq$x$\leq$0.2, m=0.996, 1, 1.004) ceramics were investigated. The results of the capacitance-voltage measurements indicated that the grain boundary was composed of the continuous insulating layers. The capacitance is almost unchanged below about 20[V] but it decreases slowly about 20[V]. The thick of the effective depleation layer was calculated by using the average grain size, it was in the range of 760∼3400[${\AA}$].

자외선조사에 의한 다공질 실리콘 알코올 센서의 감도 개선 (Improvement of Sensitivity in Porous Silicon Alcohol Gas Sensors by UV Light)

  • To do breath alcohol measurement, a sensor is necessary that it can detect low alcohol gas concentration of 0.01% at least. In this work, a capacitance-type alcohol gas sensor using porous silicon layer is developed to measure low alcohol gas concentration. The sensor using porous silicon layer has some sensitivity at room temperature by very large effective surface area, but there is still much room for improvement. In this experiment, we measured the capacitance of the sensor under 254 nm UV light on the porous silicon layer, in which alcohol solution was kept in a flask at 25, 35, and $45^{\circ}C$ by a heater. As the result, the improvement of sensitivity by illuminating UV light was observed. The increasing rate of the capacitance was shown to be double more than those measured under UV-off state. It is supposed that UV light activates response of the oriental and interfacial polarizations which have slow relaxation time for AC field.

  • In the resent years, the Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display(TFT-LCD) have trend toward larger panel sizes and higher spatial and/or gray-scale resolution. In this trend, Because of its low field effect mobility, a-Si TFT is change to poly-Si TFT. In this paper, both effective-medium model of poly-Si TFTs and empirical capacitance model are applied to Pixel Design Array Simulation Tool (PDAST) and the pixel characteristics of TFT-LCD array were simulated, which were compared with the results calculated by Aim-Spice.

터널링 전계효과 트랜지스터의 고주파 파라미터 추출과 분석 (Analyses for RF parameters of Tunneling FETs)

  • 본 논문에서는 고주파에서 동작하는 터널링 전계효과 트랜지스터 (TFET)의 소신호 파라미터 추출과 이에 대한 분석을 다루고 있다. 시뮬레이션으로 구현된 TFET의 채널 길이는 50 nm에서 100 nm 사이에서 변화되었다. Conventional planar MOSFET 기반의 quasi-static 모델을 이용하여 TFET의 파라미터 추출이 이루어졌으며 다른 채널 길이를 갖는 TFET에 대한 소신호 파라미터의 값을 게이트 바이어스 변화에 따라서 추출하였다. 추출 결과로부터 effective gate resistance와 transconductance, source-drain conductance, gate capacitance 등 주요 파라미터의 채널 길이 변화에 따른 경향성이 conventional MOSFET과 상당히 다른 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 $f_T$는 MOSFET과 달리 게이트 길이 역수의 값에 정확히 반비례하는 특성을 보였으며 TFET의 고주파 특성 향상을 transconductance의 개선이 아닌 gate capacitance의 감소에 의하여 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

  • By using the point matching method, the coplanar waveguide shielded by the rectangular waveguide has been analyzed. The particular potential solution of C.P.W has been obtained from the boundary condition by using the point matching method. The line capacitance has been obtained from the total charge of the center conductor per length. The effective dielectric constant and the line impedance have been obtained from the line capacitance of C.P.W.

  • 본 논문에서는 상호 유도 정전하 방식 ITO센서의 불량 여부를 판별하기 위해 ITO센서 내부의 전극막들이 이루고 있는 개별 노드에 대해 상호 유도 정전하 데이터를 이용하여 ITO센서의 정확한 분석과 검사가 가능한 방법을 제안한다. 모바일과 태블릿과 같은 소형 전자제품뿐만 아니라, 대형 전자제품에서도 입력 장치로 사용되는 상호 유도 정전하 방식 ITO센서의 구조적 특성을 분석하고 터치스크린 패널 IC를 이용해 ITO센서를 검사하기 위한 회로를 설계한다. 상호유도 정전하의 충전과 방전에 관련된 변수를 설정하고, ITO센서의 노드별 데이터를 통해 불량 발생 시 정확한 위치를 찾아 분석할 수 있도록 구현한다. 상호 유도 정전하 ITO센서의 1차 실험데이터를 통해 양품 유효 범위를 설정하고, 마지막으로 1차 실험을 통해 설정된 ITO센서 유효범위는 2차 실험을 통해 ITO센서의 노드별 측정 데이터를 이용하여 실험에 사용된 시료로 정확성과 효율성을 검증 한다.

소형-고속 스핀들의 반경방향 오차분석 방법 (Analysis of radial error motion in a small-sized and high-speed spindle)

  • In this paper, an efficient method is proposed to analyze the radial error of a miniaturized-high speed spindle system. Initially, a device is constructed for measuring the radial error motion using capacitance sensors. The capacitance sensors are placed perpendicular to the axis of the shaft and at 90o to each other. The spindle is rotated at high speed and the profile of the spindle is recorded. An algorithm is developed for analyzing the spindle data and determining the radial error of spindle. The present algorithm uses homogeneous transform matrix (HTM) method and iterative process for determining the radial error. The analysis procedure is performed for different speeds of the spindle. The data obtained from the present system and the results of evaluation are also presented in this paper. It is observed that this method is effective in determining and analyzing the spindle errors for high speed miniaturized spindle.
